Oh I would definitely be into a stroller thread... I''m practically stalking them these days every time I walk through the park and down the street. I MAY even admit to following people into stores just to get a better glimpse, when it''s something really unusual and interesting-looking.
2.gif

I''m originally from Hershey but I''ve lived in downtown Philly the last 6 years. DH and I met here, and love the area we live in, so we''re excited about having our first baby here... although ask me again in a year or so, and I might be frantically house-hunting for something bigger than a 1-bedroom, 950 s.f. apartment.
31.gif
That''s what I thought. My ex was from South Jersey so we spent a lot of time in Philly. He probably still lives around there, but I haven''t given him much thought since I met my fabulous Aussie!

We are currently in a 2 bedroom 1000 sf apartment. It will do for now, but I already feel like we are bursting at the seams.

And you and I totally have a stroller fetish. I started a gear thread, instead of a specific stroller thread because if it were just a stroller thread, our enthusiasm might scare people away and put us in the funny farm. Hehehe.

I think I like strollers because it''s kind of a gadget. I love gadgets.

Haha... yes, somehow it''s hard to imagine that your former South Jersey guy would hold up to your current Australian Guy, based on origins alone.
2.gif
(No offense Jersey people! Australia is just cool. In general. And the accents are way better.)

I always feel reassured knowing other people are doing the baby-in-a-small-apartment thing. I''m not SUPER concerned about it, but then I wonder if that''s because I''m being naive. As of now, I''m just excited for our baby to have Rittenhouse Square as a backyard, and Barnes & Noble as a library, and the little coffee shop downstairs as a kitchen... all the things I love best about where we live. But I''ll be paying close attention to TTot''s adjustment to your apartment (or your adjustment to TTot, rather) for as many 3-people-in-1000-s.f. survival tips as I can get.

And yes, the stroller fetish is going strong. I''m a gadget person too... anything I can research obsessively, really. My in-laws promised us a video camera, and I''m already relishing the thought of all the hours of research to come. Now if I could just figure out a way to parlay that into a career, instead of just a very productive form of procrastination from the work I''m REALLY supposed to be doing.......

Off to check out the gear thread....

Penn, nice! What colors? Do you have bedding yet? When is the twins EDD? Soon right?!? Is Nate going to let you have your way in your new house?

TGal, I got the blue ultimate crib sheet. It is the same color as my walls. The mesh bumper is a LIFE saver! No stuck limbs and I love how it is padded to protect my wiggle worm''s head.

Tacori, I''m having a hard time picking out the colors. At first I was planning on getting two of the same color, but I don''t know about that. They''re not going to be in the same room forever, so I wanted to pick different colors that way I could do something different for both of their future rooms.

I don''t have any bedding. Actually, I haven''t purchased ANYTHING. I kept telling myself that I had plenty of time (Due date May 18) and I would get to it, but with student teaching and the other things involved with be a grad student, I don''t really have a lot of time to go out and shop. So, I just decided to order everything from the net.I''m open to suggestions, whether it be bedding, cribs, etc.

And to top it off, we''re moving to New York. After a lot of interviews and a lot of reflection on our part, Nate decided to take a position at Presbyterian. He''s starting in June, but I''m hoping we can find something somewhere soon. I just have to find time to look.

My in-laws promised us a video camera, and I''m already relishing the thought of all the hours of research to come. That''s just it Ephemery...I am addicted to researching stuff. Whatever it may be. Like a fridge...boring right? When we were looking for a fridge, I looked up all kinds of sites and checked to see if there were any forums for firsthand reviews. You''d think you''d get sick of reading fridge reviews, but noooooo...so exciting for me. My latest research has included strollers (of course), diaper bags (like how gadgety is that? Yet there are threads and forums out there on this), baby carriers, and more. I wish I could get paid for it too. It''s nuts.

And I didn''t get to research a video camera because my bro bought one for me...but I did research it after I got it just to see what folks said about it. It just wasn''t as obsessive as usual. But digital camera? Geez, I went bonkers.

Think this is a disease? If so, I think it''s one a lot of PSers have...

Penn, I like non baby things. I can''t remember but are you finding out the genders? Anyways Target has a new line called Dwell. SOOOOO perfect. I probably would have gotten it instead of the MiGi (who also has a few new designs that are baby chic). I love how they have so many matching pieces (night light, boppy cover, pillows, etc...) Different crib colors would be nice. But then again I am a sucker for symmetry. My neighbor just had twin boys and I love her nursery. She got her bedding from the land of nod. She has white cribs (kind of like yours) and the room is painted a pretty dark brown. It looks *really* classy and nice. How exciting about your move!

Haha... oh I spent some time doing fridge-research just last year!

My friends/relatives like to call me up and say "I have an assignment for you...." every time they''re planning a new purchase, regardless of what it is. It really is fun for me... and yes, probably some sort of disease. If I was doing the work I''m SUPPOSED to be doing right now, I''d have my DSM-IV handy and could give you our proper psychological diagnosis. But in the meantime, it''s probably safe to say a disproportionately high percentage of PSers would share the same label.

Do you like your video camera? I actually haven''t started the research on that yet (gasp!), partly because I figure they''re coming out with all new stuff right about now... but I''m definitely open for suggestions!

Penn and Tacori, I like "non-baby" baby stuff too. Penn, I''m sure your nursery will come together beautifully, but one thing to consider is that some nursery furniture takes FOREVER to come in. There are people who''ve ordered theirs at 4-5 months pregnant who still don''t have a crib even months after the baby is born. Not a huge issue if your little ones will be sleeping in bassinets at first, and since you''ll be in the process of moving anyway, just something to keep in mind as you''re making decisions about things!

Ephermy,

Do you still have that "fridge research" on hand?

Paul and I will have to purchase a new one if we end up with the house!

I can''t sleep, so I''m here.

Tacori, we''re having a boy and a girl and I was really hoping to keep it pretty gender neutral. So, I went ahead and ordered a black one and a white one. Nate didn''t like the idea of colors, so I just went with black and white. And since I was already on the site, I ordered some bedding. I originally had a plan, but I just kept putting it off. I tend to like thing to look very sophisticated. That''s just my style, I like for things to be really nice

I did go into BabyGap and Nordstrom last week because I wanted to get something to send to my little brothers for Easter and I decided to pick up some things while I was there, but I didn''t really get much - even for the amount that I spent. Which, by the way, I haven''t told Nate about because he''s seriously going to flip. I can just see his face now. "Kenny (refers to my first name), you spent how much!" But then I will remind him that we''ve been saving for this and we still have to get a lot more.

The move is kind of exciting but I put so much into this house. I hated it in the beginning and now, I really hate to leave it. This was like, my full entrance into adulthood.

Penn, have you looked at the bedding at PoshTots? We are thinking of trying for baby #2 and I get on there all the time to get ideas for a nursery. So are you doing the bedding in black and white too? I went to a home design showcase kind of thing and they had a nursery set up with black and white and it was beautiful:)

Tacori,

Did you know Tessa was a girl, or was she a surprise baby girl? I ask because I adore your color choices and it''s just so cute, for a girl or a boy. Paul and I plan to have our babies be surprises, so I really like finding bedding that can go either way.

TOO cute are your paintings to match the decor, too! I love it!!

Penn, I agree you might want to wait until your move. T was in our room until she was 4 months. Obviously the nursing won't be an issue with you guys
2.gif
but it was still comforting to look over and see her breathing when she was itty bitty. Or at an arms reach to put her paci back in.

Fisher, she was a surprise by our choice. A good thing about a gender neutral is this will be our offical nursery for all of our children, boy or girl. I am very proud of those paintings. They took me forever! But done with love.

Finally taking the time to post in this thread.

Tacori~love your nursery! It''s perfect for gender neutral!

Diver~love D''s room! It''s girly without being too girly...that was my goal with Tayva''s room too. I am not all about pepto-pink everywhere but wanted it to say "IT''s a girl!"
2.gif

Ella~the twins nursery is perfect. I just love pottery barn.

I''m going to post a few pics of Tayva''s room. I took these before she was born so I was using it to store some stuff (like her carseat)...but you''ll get the basic idea.

Cute Burk!

wait...just one more...to show the detail in the bedding. My mom sewed everything for the room....including the bed skirt and bumper and even the roman shades! She''s pretty crafty.

Thanks Tacori!

That''s so beautiful, Burk! A lovely room for lovely Ms. Tayva

Tacori, I saw your bedding in BRU tonight for the first time. So cute! I mean, I knew it was cute from your photos but it''s even cuter in person!

We got some letters at Pottery Barn and hubby is painting them all antique white (they were on sale, so we had to get whatever colors they had, so we have a mix of red, white, and pink), so once those are done, they''ll have their names up over the cribs. And we''ve got adorable framed prints over their cribs of their little feetsies in PBK gingham matted frames -- green for him, purple for her. Will post some photos of the nursery now that it''s actually in use once their names are up!

Thanks Ella. I think it is super cute too. I saw they carried it there now. Would have made things easier for me
20.gif
Oh well! I love the name idea but never got around to doing it. With all the stuff we have planned she might be out of wall space. Can''t wait to see updated pics!

Burke, Tayva''s room is so pretty. I love your fabric and color choices. Your mom rocks! I have considered trying to sew a valance, crib skirt and bumper (once we know the gender) since I used to sew. Roman shades are way beyond my skills though!

I love seeing everyone''s baby nurseries! They are beautiful!

TGal and ephemery, add me to the list of couples having a baby in an under 1000 sq ft place. Our home is only 950 sq ft. We have 2 bedrooms so the baby will have his/her own room. We''re using it as an office/storage room now. I am not looking forward to cleaning it out...so much stuff in there! I''m not too concerned about having 1 child here but more than 1, I''m concerned. Need a bigger place!

Burk: omg...love those shades! Can your mom make me some? BTW, love Tayva''s new avatar!

oops...D is up and hungry!!

later!

burk you nursury is so pretty. poor jake is just getting a crib set up in room, i''m leaving the guest bed in with him. no fancy nursury this time around. i did get all his bedding from PBK and it''s so darling and the matching lamp shade but that''s about it. stinks to be baby #3

Ha, that''s exactly how I feel. People are already asking me if I am going to get the guest room ready for the new baby, or move my two girls into one room and redo Kara''s room into a nursery.

I am like, no, I am going to move a crib into the guest bedroom and call it a day. I don''t want to redo the girls room or move them out. That would mean repainting, removing wall art, etc. Changing the window stuff.

It does stink to be baby number 3.

Here is a picture of Kara''s room. Her room pretty much looks the same now, except that I put a toddler bed, same color and style as the crib, into her room.

Here it is..

Here is her name on the wall above her changing table.

Thanks Ella! Can''t wai to see how your letters turn out!

Thanks Kay! My mom said the skirt and bumper weren''t really that difficult. She didn''t even use a pattern, but I know you can get patterns. And for the window treatment she built the cornice board above her windows out of ply wood and then just stapled padding and the fabric on it. I think I could have even done that (minus the woodworking
9.gif
) You''ll have to keep us posted on what you decide to do.

Thanks Diver! I''ll have to ask my mom if she wants to go into business!

Butterfly~Kara''s room is very cute!

Burk, I realized yesterday when I was nursing that Tessa''s crib is *SO* similar to Tayva''s (except of the color). No wonder I liked it!
