During cocktails and reception, we are doing the iPod on a docking system. There is a piano already at the site, so we MAY have someone play a little for the processional and recesional. If not that, if we can afford it, maybe have someone play a little violin for us. I should start looking up some Berklee or N E Conservatory students to play for us!

I think the band vs. DJ issue depends on how big your reception site is also. With our 50-60 guest wedding, I think a band would be overwhelming. It would be too loud for the small site. However, in a big 200-guest ballroom, it would be much more appropriate.

We considered doing the IPOD/laptop thing but in the end I just wanted someone else to take care of it for me. But definitely for our size, a laptop/ipod would be perfect. However, with a DJ, you kind of get someone to "get the party going" if you have a shy family like mine. I want people OUT on that dance floor--and I think our DJ has the right personality for that.
