Okey Dokey! I'll bring my "heirloom bling" so you can feast your eyes on how beautiful an N colored diamond can be, and my three stone ring for the "K color" effect, and my asscher friend too. And for fun I'll wear my itty bitty bling necklace--a Jeanine Payer necklace my hubbie gave me one christmas that has teeny briolette diamonds, which you don't see too often.

it is a little hard not to worry about who else may be out there lurking for nefarious purposes watching get togethers being planned, but i know that a lot of other PS gatherings have happened without anything going wrong, so keeping fingers crossed, knocking on wood, we are all meeting in a very public, busy place, so hopefully being aware is enough.

on what to wear...i don't have that much in the way of 'jewelry'..i'm still a fledgling owner even though i have managed to upgrade a few times....but i'll have my wedding set, my regent pendant, and my toe rings on!! i can't wait to see some of the stuff you gals have and try roppongi and kristy's rings on my pinky!!! hehee. since that's where they will fit. damn you small fingered girls!

widget, we'll definitely miss you this time around...hopefully we can catch you next time! i would LOVE to see your beautttiffullll asscher ring and your other goodies!

OH and yes of course i am bringing the freshly charged camera!!!
31.gif

The digicam I have sucks and is about to die. Mara, I hope you are willing to share all of the pictures you take with us! I also don''t think we need 10 cameras around as that would be a bit much. People will really think we are psycho!!

I''ll have my ering, earrings, and pendant on. I''ve been thinking about whether I should bring my eternity wedding band...but I think that''ll wait until the next GTG when I''ll be married!

Widget, you''ll be missed! For shame, mentioning your ages worries. Diamond sickness crosses all decade age groups and bonds us tight. But, if YOU are tied up, there is nothing stopping your jewelry box from being couriered to us for a playdate....
31.gif

Widget! How did I not know that you lived in the Bay Area?? That''s so great! But I''m really bummed you won''t be at the GTG...hopefully you can make it to a future gathering. (and WM is right....diamond lust knows no age limit!)

Wallermama, the thought flitted briefly through my mind too but I think we''ll be fine since we''re meeting in a totally public, well-populated place in broad daylight. I agree though, for security I wish there was some way we could PM here. The great thing about this first GTG is that Bay Area people can exchange contact info and correspond that way for future GTGs going forward.

Mara - in the presence of luckyhonu''s size 2 fingers, I think we''ll ALL feel like sausage-fingers!!! She''ll have to be the one to model the all-on-one-finger shot!

I''ll be wearing my earrings, pendant, bracelet and RHR. That''s about all the jewelry I own, and everything is under 1 carat. Me and my oocytes!
3.gif

I can''t wait to see all you gals there, I personally have not seen anything over two carats in person. Well, not on someone who will allow me to look and drool as much as I want anyway!

Awwwww....we need you to come in a Hugh Hefner-esque smoking jacket to hang out with your Pricescope Posse....

DF -- why don''t you just break down and bring your wife?
9.gif
Heck, you don''t need to worry about her wanting another upgrade after meeting us since she already HAS a 3.5 carat rock!

More than 10 years ago I had my identity stolen and it was miserable and extremely painful. It took YEARS to clean up my credit history (I no longer have credit cards) and put my life back in order. I had over $100,000.00 open and charged to various accounts. This person lived high on the hog and I was left with the damages. Cars, trips, clothes, jewelry....this person even sent me a watch as a gift. There is very little I share over the net.

But this I will share....

I''m short (5''0) and I have black hair (I''m Asian) and I will probably be in black. I''ll be the one wearing HK around my neck. If my studs are back from being reset, I will wear them.

I can''t wait to meet you all on Friday.

Roppongi: we''re the same height! I''m also Asian, and will probably be wearing black (maybe jeans). I''ll be looking out for your Hello Kitty necklace!

KristyDarling: *blushing* I don''t think anyone has sausage fingers! If anything, I think my size 2 fingers are FREAKY. The fact that they''re that small, I don''t know anyone else who has fingers like mine.
4.gif
I guess the only positive thing about that is I save a little bit of $$$ on settings but that''s it!

Heehee, OK well it appears there will be a gaggle of short Asian girls wearing nice jewelry (including me)...that''ll be helpful for identifying each other! (imagine that, Asian women in the Bay Area!)

Me three!

luckyhonu, you forgot to mention the other benefit of small fingers...diamond looks bigger on your tiny finger!!!

lol a bunch of small asian women and then ME! i''ll feel like a tall hippo!
39.gif

I''ve seen pics of you Mara and the last thing I''d think of is the word hippo. Silly girl! More like tall willowy brunette. What I wouldn''t give for JUST TWO MORE inches!!!

I know you guys will have a blast. I can''t wait to see all the pics. DF you should go!! Have fun!!!!
36.gif

Thanks Kaleigh. Wish you could be there too.
1.gif

Mara, you are definitely no hippo!

KD, how tall are you? I don''t mind being short now. I''ve gotten used to it. Growing up short was hard though...always being teased!

14.gif

A shrimpy 5''2". Used to be stick-thin but am quite rounded now due to age and childbirth. LOL. I really miss my waist.

I grew up in the Midwest as the ONLY Asian girl in a school full of tall blondies....it was just a leeeeettle bit traumatic being called "Shrimp" until I was in junior high!

the grass is always greener!!
9.gif
i used to wish i was short and delicate and dainty...instead of being tall and gangly while growing up. now while i am happy for my height (as it hides 5 extra lbs quite easily), i still wish sometimes to be small and delicate (with size 3 fingers!!). my first serious boyfriend was 6 foot 8 inches, and i used to LOVE how dainty and small i felt around him!! hehee.

Spend your time wishing for two more inches and you might get it in the wrong places...

I may be taller than you but try humbling yourself to buy Spanx (read: girdles for the young and hip) for a black tie wedding and wishing that they sold Spanx to tame the bulge ABOVE the Spanx as well as the bumps you were originally trying to hide. I''ll take the "short and petite" or "tall thin Mara hippo" issues anyday
2.gif
.

Can''t wait to meet you all and watch my size 6 rings be worn like bangle bracelets by the lot of you!

That''s the thing, see? 5 extra pounds on a 5''2" frame is VERY obvious. Ugh. You are sooo lucky. I have to be really careful. I''ve gained like 6 pounds in the last month and it''s really obvious to me. And the spare tire leftover from my pregnancies is the bane of my existence. Baggy tops are my savior! When I was single and in my early 20''s, I used to go to bars in Chicago and was literally invisible among my 5''8" gorgeous blonde friends. Being small and delicate in those situations was definitely NOT an advantage!

I LOVE SPANX!!!! But you''re so right that they have yet to address the jelly roll above the waistband issue.

Mara, if you feel like a hippo, so shall I. I don''t fall into that small Asian women category. In fact, I''m usually taller than most Asian men, so they''re scared of me. Heck, I''m even taller than my bf. So don''t worry!

Hi Everyone,

The Bay Area get together sounds like fun! Since Stanford Shopping Center is my stomping ground, I would really like to join you. But it''s a work day, so I can only get away with a long lunch break. I can either join you for lunch or bling shopping, but not both. I am probably much older than the rest of you ladies, so I''m not sure if you want to meet me. I certainly want to meet all of you, especially Widget. Widget, are you sure you can''t make it? May be you can bring your house guests and show them Stanford Univeristy, Filoli or something.

There are lots of stores to see jewelry at Stanford Shopping Center. These are the main ones:
Tiffany, Cartier, Shreves, Gleims, Tom Wing, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Macys, Nordstrom and Darren McClung. The Tiffany store here is nothing like the NY store. Same with Cartier. Gleims and Tom Wing are family owned traditional jewelry stores. Gleims has nice estate jewelry. The only designer they carry worth mentioning is Jean Francoise Albert. Tom Wing is a snotty store and I seldom go in there. Neiman Marcus is probably the best among the department stores. Besides the high end stuff, they also carry a lot of nice medium priced American designers such as Judith Ripka, David Yurman, Gurhan, Jude Francis, Julie Wong etc....lots of chandelier earrings. Darren McClung carries high end major bling, both new and estate.

As for security, be cautious when you go to your car. There have been some robberies in the parking lots.

Art -- that's all great background info, thanks!!! And like we said to Widget, age is a non-issue. I'm always THRILLED to meet anyone who shares my obssession (there aren't many of us and we need to stick together) and I'm sure that's the same for everyone else who's coming. It might be easier for you to meet us for lunch since after that we could be on a wild rampage just about anywhere in the mall. Looking forward to meeting you!
