Bittersweet excitement. My new old mine!

I'll echo the same.
OMC's in Cleone's ranges are hen's teeth right now. I would hold unless you need the funds- you won't have any problem unloading her if you decide to. It would be a shame to separate her from her mount. Those prongs. Noooo touch!:naughty:
What a lucky predicament to have! Your new stone is amazing. I've been very partial to the flush mounts and bezels with simple gold work lately.

I’ve been warming up to flush mounts too and this one caught my eye! It’s 22k gold with tiny french cuts on the NWSE points. It’s so luxe! My understanding is that a center OMC is a lower colored OMC as well and pretty substantial in size, very similar to your stone. I think you can probably do it in Platinum too for a real contrast!

And a few setting ideas. More modern if I keep Cleone and more soft and vintage if I don’t. 8C02AA4A-4C84-4871-9A33-D2F999F14F1A.png
I’ve got a (much smaller!) OMC that I need to set and the Barcelona is one of my fav inspirations! Here are a few more profiles of his I like the style of. 8F57D793-3A1F-4A79-AB75-5C198F1410C2.png

i died when i saw that...it's so tempting to just ditch the wedding band and get one JUICY ring in 22k yellow gold....:kiss2:

I believe VB also did this one for more of an modern take.

It’s set with an emerald cut but I think it would work with your OMC. It’s high polish and you can see a thin hidden pave around the gallery.

keep keep keep keep keep keep keep keep

Thank you! That makes me feel better. That was kinda what I was thinking. It seems that they are becoming extremely hard to come by. I don’t need the funds but was just planning on refilling the bling fund in case something else catches my eye. I just can’t risk touching those prongs. I think an appraisal from a reputable source would probably be the way to go if I do end up selling her in the future. Obviously not anywhere near as good as a GIA report but it would at least give the buyer a bit of peace of mind. I absolutely LOVE all of the settings you posted! I have that brown old European pinned on my Pinterest!

Omg I absolutely love that setting! I had it saved as a reset idea for my emerald cut (I ended up selling the emerald cut.) That would be stunning for my OMC! Thank you for putting the idea in my head.

I LOVE The Barcelona! I almost set Cleone like that. I actually love the look of the chunky bezel on their hunter setting to. I’m a huge VB fan. I drool over all of their pieces.

I wish I could remember, I just save them as I see them and never label them:doh:it bothers me every time I do it-aaand I still don't!

Phew! It would've been a real shame. An appraisal always offers peace- and that ring will have zero trouble moving if you decide to. It's beautiful.
They really are; I don't know what's going on, or who is snapping them up, but they are disappearing alarmingly fast it seems in the last half year or so.
I love settings like this and collect pictures and frankendream my imaginary mountings that I will someday fashion.
* yours in in the picture vault somewhere too, ya know

I kept both of my stones and made the setting really different! Yellow gold vs platinum, bezel vs prongs, index finger vs ring finger.

Wow! Those are both stunning! Do you have a Thread on these? I’d love to read about them

I never did a dedicated SMTB thread on the yellow gold one. But there is a thread where I’m asking for advice on the setting. I will have to dig that up but I’m on a slow connection. The other thread for the solitaire I will also have to dig up but if you search 3.98 it should pop up ha ha because that is the carat weight that it is.

No worries! I already found it! They are both so stunning.

Ok so I’ve been narrowing down my setting ideas. I have 3 different directions and would love everyone’s thoughts and opinions.

1st dilemma: 18k yellow or platinum or both. I am typically a gold girl. I had DK create my first platinum solitaire last year and I absolutely fell in love with aspects of Platinum. I absolutely love the weight of it and I love the patina that it develops. I feel like when my gold pieces get scratched it bothers me a bit but with the platinum I was totally fine with it. I ended up selling my platinum solitaire so now I have a jewelry box full of gold which I love but I’m kind of missing the variety. That being said this might not be the right piece for platinum so I just wanna do what’s best for the piece

Idea number 1: I absolutely love this solitaire by ring concierge. It’s so modern and totally different than my other setting. Also I get the best of both worlds with my yellow gold and my platinum. I was thinking of having DK create a variation of it possibly with a single cut melee on the shoulders. It looks fantastic but my stone is obviously not yellow. My concern with this idea is that I am going to create a crazy clashing mess. One would think that the cup would play up the warmth of my stone but I’m afraid it’s not gonna play it up enough and my diamond will be clashing with the melee on the shoulders. Two-tone metal and clashing diamonds could just be an absolute disaster. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

Idea number 2:

I’m obsessed with Victor Barbone designs. I showed my husband some of their designs last night and he fell in love with the Hunter setting and I totally agree. My concerns with having a variation of the hunter setting made: 1- is it different enough from Cleone? 2- I was hoping to go high polish and not brushed or matte. Would it look ok polished? 3- DK Is amazing but I’m concerned that he won’t be able to execute the fine milgrain to my satisfaction. And all of the pieces I’ve seen from him the milgrain is much chunkier.

Idea number three:

I came across this Victor canera design and it totally stopped me in my tracks. I am absolutely in love with it. It’s not anything like I originally wanted but there is something oh so special about it. Unfortunately my husband doesn’t care for it. I’m wondering if he might feel differently if it was yellow gold. I do love this in platinum though. I haven’t reached out to VC yet. I have seen mixed reviews as to whether he is working with outside stones. My guess is that he’s doing it as a case by case basis depending on how busy he is. My concerns with this is the fact that it isn’t a bezel. I’m a bit concerned about the lack of protection.

Oh I love the Victor setting.... that might be beautiful in two-tone!! I hope you keep your other ring. It is beautiful and I say this because I have regretted selling some of my jewelry and for a fraction of what I paid for it. :( Can't wait to see what you decide!
