Bling Wish List 2022

Assuming the 3 items are roughly the same price, I would rank them according to their bling per wear value, and get the one with the best bling per wear value first.

Looking at the list, I would wear the pearl necklace only very occasionally.

I don't have second piercing, and if I had, I would probably get LGD instead of earth-mined ones, or CSs etc...

Inside out hoops would be my choice as I am more likely to wear them in all sorts of occasions (you just gave me an idea about a D-shape inside out hoops!!! )

I hv a pair of round in-out hoop earrings which I wear casually with t-shirt/denim & to fancier nite-out, extremely versatile!

I thought I would start my wish list early, seeing I had planned to be made in 2021 did not materialise due to the package containing the stones I wanted to set got stuck in the postal systems for nearly 7 months! Not complaining, as I am VERY grateful for it and its content to be returned to me safe and sound.

I would lessen the risk involved in future, and send fewer items in one package.

So here is my Bling Wish List for 2022.

1. Set my Jeff White emerald cut Aquamarine with a pair of pink Morganite step cut traps that he had cut for me in a ring.
2. Set the 6 x 4mm lab/MMD MRBs I purchased from Dandi in a simple 3-stone flower stud setting.
3. Set the 2 x 6mm round OEC Moissanites I bought from Ouros as interchangeable drops for my tiny diamond D-shaped huggie earrings.
4. A pair of oval huggie earrings from the new eBay shop set up by my usual contact at the bench I use in China.
5. A larger pair of earring jackets for my near 1cttw diamond studs, most likely to be using 3mm Moissanites.
6. Set my Jeff White Asscher cut blue Zircon in an air gap halo ring setting.
7. Set Jeff White's lab emerald cut Emerald in a Ballerina style setting, probably with Moissanites.
8. A strand of blue Tahitian pearls.
9. A Paraiba cabochon.
10. A bigger blue green Tourmaline.
11. A nicer pair of tear drop Tahitian pearls as interchangeable drops.
12. A nicer pair of tear drop Cultured Fresh Water or baby South Seas white pearls as interchangeable drops.

1. Add centre diamond (M faint brown) to the lovely yellow gold halo ring I bought from a lovely PSer here :



2. Reset my (horribly cut and badly matched) oval five stone into an east west bezel band




3. Get my spess garnet cabs set into an asymmetric station necklace in yellow gold with a nice heavyweight chain




4. Get my butterfly brooch unheated sapphire and demantoid garnet layout set




5. Get earrings made to go with my rainbow sapphire bracelet



6. Get tanzanite sugarloaves set as cufflinks for my husbands Christmas gift




7. Get matching earrings made for my crazy cocktail bombe ring



8. Get my Mexican opals set as earrings and a brooch inspired by these



9. Get my big pad recut and set as a pendant



I also would love a couple of other resets to be done, and get matching earrings for my grandidierite - but have enough on my plate for now!

Love all your ideas!! Are these in order of priority or just a general list of what you hope to get done?

Not really in order and I will probably get distracted and end up doing a lot of totally unknowable stuff instead - the joys of ADHD combined with N addition to sparkly things!

The brooch, sapphire earrings and cocktail ring matching earrings are in various stages of development already though - waiting for CADS.

And setting the diamond in the semi should be fast and inexpensive. So that should be done v soon.

No. 10 in the original list for 2022 - a bigger blue-green Tourmaline has been achieved, in that this whopper will be mine, thanks to my quick fingers:

This is the photo of the rough after he purchased it in Tucson 2022. I gasped at the price when I enquired about it. A few days later, I started a new contract work twice as many hours! It's fate!



The photo of what he picked up at Tucson 2022, the rough can be seen in the bottom right hand corner, it is massive!



Should be an emerald cut stone in the region of 20 to 30ct!

I shan't be setting anymore stones for a while, unless I continue to be busy at work as I am an independent contractor.

4. Long story, but I decided to keep my LGD AVR. I got-another-graded instead. This one is EGD.

#3 — got a 2mm 14k gold bangle as a present. 2022 bling wish list achievement unlocked!

There are very few specific jewelry pieces I want any more. I have two rings under construction but honestly, after that, it will be a while. Maybe by the time the 2023 thread comes along I will have a new goal.

Not on the list for 2022, however, I bought myself an 0.86ct F SI1 OEC from Ivy and Rose, and it is currently being set in a simple Gypsy setting in Platinum to be worn as a right hand ring.

I have bought some other bits and pieces too, more stones to set!

Here’s mine!

1. A sapphire- still deciding between asscher and cushion (will most likely commission w Jeff White) set in a ballerina ring. DONE

2. French cut diamond for a small bezel ring

3. Chunky antique 22k gold band.

4. set one of my smaller loose diamonds into a bezel pendant DONE

Geez I went overboard this year. I did accomplish number 1 but I purchased my stone from the rare gemstone company instead of commissioning it. I also accomplished number 4. I had my transitional diamond set into a floating bezel pendant. I gave up on my French cut and never found the right 22k antique band. I also bought a 3.60 ct old mine diamond (currently being set w DK), an engraved gold band, a sapphire eternity band, a loose Umba sapphire, and a loose tourmaline from Earths treasury.

A silver and gold enameled locket with an AVR center (got the diamond center stone)

Platinum and diamond drop 'dinner earrings' (got all the diamonds)

Platinum and diamond necklace - using up all my remaining stones (got all the diamonds)

Emerald and diamond 3 stone (I have the sides)

And that's it for me! All my stones are used up and set at that point. I've completely stopped looking, browsing, trading, buying - all of it - and have for a while now. All my sets will be complete and I'm DONE.

Nope. Not one thing from this list. However...

The chain for the locket is in production, and the locket is for my birthday, mid next year and the CADs for it are done.

I still have one more diamond to go for the necklace, having bought one more this year. (I now have 7 but need 8.)

I've changed directions with the earrings.

And I think I've abandoned the emerald three stone idea.

So - progress, just no completion.

On the other hand, I turned Beloved into a three stone by adding 2.25ctw of H VS1 ACA sides, so that wasn't nothing.

And I got, seriously, world's best yellow gold hoops, which I'll start a thread for presently.

I'm redoing my 7 stone ring into an eternity, and have acquired 5 more diamonds for that project. I still need 5 more, so that's still coming, and I'm also extending my 9 stone anniversary band into an eternity, which is in production right now.

And I finally got the plain, super heavy, 20kt yellow gold band of my dreams.

So on balance - it was a great year! And in 2023 I will set my peridot or die!

I am disappointed to report that the two sets of dangling drops had to be returned for rework, as the frigging jump rings are too small for my tiny huggies.

They looked really nice, here is a pic of the drops with the Greek key bracelet which is lovely.



However my heart sank when I discovered they don't fit my tiny huggies, here is a pic of one of them showing the jump ring is smaller than the jump ring on my paved diamond drop that the same bench made for me about 2 years ago.



Ah well, I still have a new bracelet as Christmas present to myself.



Here is a pic of my 5 earth-mined diamond bracelets together. I shan't wear them all at the same time, 3 the most.

I had the same thing happen with my baby tourmaline drops from Yvonne Raley. I sent them back because the jump rings were too small. She put new larger jump rings on them..They’re perfect now..

Mine is more a to-do list than a bling wish list for 2022:

1) Finish "paying back" for all the jewelry fun of 2021.

Yeah, right! (Not done. Never done.)

2) Go through jewelry for pieces to be de-cluttered, repaired or upgraded and prioritize.

Done but needs to be done again (yearly).

3) Finish jewelry record with photo, description, receipt etc. of each piece.

No. Bought a cool new camera for it though! (still in the box, naturally)

4) Get smaller diamond appraised, then add to insurance.

No. Went to one jeweler but didn't schedule the appraisal (don't remember why now).

5) Get stabilizer on tennis necklace to keep it from flipping.

Went to one jeweler but didn't have it done there (don't remember exactly why now). Tried to do it myself. Finally decided to leave it as it is.

6) Get better secondary diamonds and prongs on shield ring (from 2021 list).

No. Could not find a local jeweler who actually did the work themselves or who I could consult with directly about the specifics.

7) 2 ctw moissanite stud earrings, bezel set 14k yellow gold (from 2021 list).

No. Bought a pair but returned them (too flimsy).


Well, I get a D+ for 2022 lol. Took a stab at most of it, then wandered off. I had a cool new ring made though.
