Bling wishlist/projects for 2025

As we are wrapping up 2024.. some of you might have ticked some things off this year Wishlist 2024. It's a good time to recap what we've achieved this year and start planning our bling goals for 2025.

This year I finally got my HG upgrade 5.68ct omc ring! And for 2025 I'm going to ask Santa for some bangles because my wrist needs some love too.

Let me know what you've got planned and bonus points for photos/inspiration. Love me some eye candy hahaha.

My big 'news' (which isn't news to many here!) is that Georgiana the 3.1 carat OMB should be set in an Erika Winters ring and on my finger in May/June/July 2025. My partner would probably do earlier and some of you have laughed at me already, but I just don't want to get engaged with braces on! They're due to come off in April or May.

No other big wishes for me. I'm working on setting my Moline blue Akoyas and I'd love to grab a couple of Tahitian pearl pieces but other than that I don't have plans for me. I'm planning to get my partner a nice wedding watch if he doesn't beat me to it -- potentially a vintage mosaic dial Rolex Datejust or one of the Grand Seiko Snowflakes or its evolutions.

I reviewed my Bling Wish List for 2024 and did not complete/achieve any of the item listed - 2024 was not a good year for me.

However I have committed to purchase an Emerald from Jeff W which is not on the list.

For my Bling Wish List for 2025, I would like:
1. To set my Jeff White's Tsarvorite 2.53ct, 7.57mm diameter
2. To have an upside down tear-drop shaped diamond paved bail made that can accept different drops such as pearls and CSs.
3. To set my large Jeff W's Danburite as a pearl clasp that can take different pearl strands
4. Complete paying off my Emerald to be cut by Jeff W.
5. A strand of blue Tahitian pearls
6. A Paraiba Carb
7. Set my big blue-green EC Tourmaline cut by Jeff W in a ringdant

That will do for now, and I am hoping Items 1 to 4 can be achieved in 2025.

Aww you're so sweet to get your partner something! I really wanted a Rolex for my 40th which is in a few years but then I kinda love my Garmin watch and I could spend that money on a nice art deco bracelet instead. I would specifically want the vintage Rolex from my birth year. How exciting!

Wow that is quite the list. I love that it's a mix of everything so it'll be quite versatile. I think pearls and CS will be in my future one day haha. I can't wait to see what your blue Tahitian strand looks like and the Paraiba cab!

Haha you have every right to change your mind. I hope you get it sooner rather than later hahaha and indulge us in lots and lots of photos! I can't wait for your smtb post hahaha. We've been part of your journey and can't wait to see the fruits of our labor lol.

Aww it's nice for a guy to have a nice watch. It's the only jewellery they get lol. But yes the art deco line bracelet is my dream.

Haha if it's one thing I've learnt, we're never really on Ban Island and if so, never that long. We just adjust things according to our lives. I'm currently on maternity leave so really shouldn't be buying anything lol but here I am. I guess in tough times we become more resourceful. And definitely treat yourself, as a celebration for your employment and significant birthday. We only live once!

Project 1: Five Stone Ring. I will be setting my five half carat OECs into my mondo five stone ring early this year! I started collecting them last January and found the last stone in November of this year. So it was a longer term project. Buying the stones ate most of my bling budget for 2024, thus setting will be the main project for 2025. The Canadian dollar has dropped through the floor lately and gold prices have gone through the roof. It’s very depressing how much this setting is going to cost in my local currency! But it will be a beautiful, lifetime piece so I guess its ok lol



Project 2: Pendant. I would also like to make a pendant with Yvonne this year. I have been collecting small gems for about a year. I’m toying with something like this, based on a new ring design she has. Center is a 5mm OEC, surround is two 4mm untreated purple sapphires and four untreated 3mm pink sapphires, plus two 2mm pink sapphires. Also toying with a design using two 3.8mm diamonds in place of the purple sapphires. I want a “signature” pendant and I think something like these could for the bill.

Hi LB.. here they are.. sorry I don't have very good photos of them and they generally don't photograph as well as the others but I guarantee you they look better IRL. I bought it direct through the IG seller!

No Alex's ones are slightly different. These were from the Diamond Bucket lab on Instagram. They are a little deeper than a normal oec and the tables are so tiny it's so pretty. It's also cheaper than Alex's too lol.

How do they compare to natural OECs in terms of cut? They look very authentic in the pictures you posted.

I just posted a video to my IG account
"comparison" the faceting and light play are very close to natural oecs, the biggest "flaw" for me is how flawless they are. Too white and not included lol.

Yeah that’s really good. I looked at their IG and all their old style cuts were impressive. They had some really authentic looking OMCs.

They are actually really good. I had an omc and old pear custom cut for a friend and they recut the pear 3 times until we were satisfied.

If my feelings towards my earrings are positive then I'm hoping to consider this for a pendant

I was so excited to have my ruby ring back before Christmas but it wasn’t quite right so I’m trying again.
My Art Deco watch conversion is also pending, slim chance it might be finished before Christmas but apparently my jewellers bench has been flat out.
To console myself I bought myself another ring, a cheapie, but big and bold. On its way, also not expected before Christmas.
The one thing on my wish list is a nice pair of big amethyst earrings, in a drop style.
My massive fun ring.

Oh Bron the postal service is a joke sometimes. Sending stuff across Melbourne can take more than a week. And I'm not sure if you've got thieves stealing packages like we do down here. If they're not completed this year then you'll have plenty to add to the 2025 thread haha. But in saying that I'd rather wait and have a perfectly completed piece than have a rush job that I'm not happy with. I am so excited to see your watch conversion after that while debacle with customs.

Luckily my front porch isn’t easily accessed and the dogs bark the second that front gate clicks so I don’t miss any deliveries.
But on my garden FB page a guy in inner city terrace came home and was watching from his car as a guy was on his front porch going through his food delivery bags. So he snuck up behind the thief and said loudly “can I help you?” The thief was so startled and jumped over the side boundary wrought iron fence and got caught on it, ripping his pants and falling face first into the neighbors front cactus garden, before fleeing.

I love when we have to write down something cause then it becomes tangible. It can help us remain more focused on our goals. I was really lucky that I achieved my one goal for 2024 so I really like that your list is small and achievable!

We need photos of your reset inspirations. I have seen a few emeralds on PS in recent times and that would be on my wishlist down the track. And FCD is a whole new kettle of fish for me! I also want to see your reset ideas for your asscher. With the gold prices the way they are, I'm not going to be able to do too many custom projects in 2025 either. So definitely collect diamonds now while prices are low. Although I think I read that FCD were still holding value.

Wow!! These are so Gorgeous and realistic. Is Diamond Bucket setting them for you?

The flaws you cite are nooo problem for me, esp since they would be earrings (super white color no visible inclusions, fine).

No they only cut diamonds, they don't do settings unfortunately. I'm getting a local jeweller to set them in a plain 9ct white gold 6 prong basket setting lol.

Yeah I figured the "flaws" would be acceptable on my ears haha. And I already have DSS for these earrings and want to go bigger sigh haha. Because these are a little deeper they face up a little smaller than 2cts. I'm thinking I need 3cts each lol.

2024 was an excellent bling year, but I also spent a TON, so 2025 needs to be a bit toned down imo!

I really only have two things on my list, one of which is a holdover from the previous year:

- an emerald cocktail ring, I’ve got some ideas of designs I’ve been sketching out. I want something really interesting with a lot of presence!

- a tahitian pearl tin-cup necklace - I obtained a Tahitian pearl bracelet for an absolute song, and I want to turn it into a necklace because I know I won’t wear the bracelet. Maybe with some fun diamond stations, perhaps also a pair of earrings to match.

So far that’s it, but let’s see if something else makes it on the list! I don’t always complete the projects I put on my list lol - I remember last year I had ideas of a wide RG cigar band for example, that never materialised.
