Bling wishlist/projects for 2025

I have to be very careful with my finances and live within my means going forward.

2024 was a big wake-up call.

Now that the end of tunnel is in sight, and the big light I am approaching is not a train, I am truly grateful that I have managed to turn a corner.

I do not wish to risk losing pieces with huge sentimental value given to me by my mum ever again!

I'm glad you didn't sell your omc to upgrade. You'll definitely get your 5+ carat soon! You had a pretty successful year I think in ticking off your coveted items. I love your moval ring!

It seems like 2025 is already another busy year for you and lots of new pieces. I can't wait to see them all. I'm interested in your antique pear and oec, what kind of settings are you thinking of for them?

Thank you! I have plenty of time to get a larger stone. I love my old mine cuts so much. I don’t think I’ll ever part with them. I never even wear my 2 ct but it will make a fabulous family heirloom someday. My OEC lab diamond is under my tree! I can’t wait to open it on Christmas morning. It has a teeny tiny table. I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations. This is the 360: https://loupe360.com/diamond/LG659413221 . I’m torn between a simple platinum solitaire or a chunky halo of OEC diamonds.

:kiss2:

I have not seen him posting any big Aqua roughs except the deep blue ones as seen in his recent Gem Scoop which only go up to about 2ct.

Therefore, please share a photo of your rough if possible, pretty please, thanks in advance. And I can't wait to see the finished gem.

Mine isn’t exactly a trade ideal color but it’s exactly what I had been seeking. It’s a lighter seafoam color. I had been looking for a big seafoam aqua for quite some time but I realized that I would never be happy with a commercially cut emerald cut. Jeff estimates it to end up in the 15-24 ct range and eye clean to flawless clarity. I’m soooo excited. He should be starting it any day now. He said it will be done end of December. I’m on cloud nine. I have tons of setting ideas. IMG_4027.jpeg

Wow!!! :kiss2:

I too prefer my Aqua to be lighter with a hint of green, and when he described the likely colour of the 6ct+ finished stone that he cut for me, I said yes with a heartbeat without seeing the rough!

Finished ring (please excuse the dirt, and the Morganite step cut traps were also from him):

Can't wait to see your finished stone as it will be a spectacular whopper, and I hope it will at the top end of his estimate in carat size! :kiss2:

Aww I know the feeling! I told hubby that I'd sell my 3.6ct omc for the upgrade but since getting the upgrade, I've changed my mind. Lol I don't think I could ever part with it so I totally know how you're feeling. The 5ct will come one day soon.

Ah I'm so excited, the oec is very different to your omcs. I think you can't go wrong with a plain solitaire! I am partial to a chunky cluster though haha.

Well, 2024 was a bust. I neither reined in my impulsive buying, nor sorted out the moval cluster, which was basically the only thing on my list.

So here's my list going into 2025, with a few pics for tax:
A. Sort out the moval cluster. It's been sitting in my jewelry box, unworn, since 2022. Enough already.
B. To my simultaneous enjoyment and dismay, I've managed to amass a nice collection of loose diamonds over the last few years. I'm leaning toward the following projects:
1. Graduated OEC 5 stone band (0.42/0.62/0.80/.0.60/0.46) - I need to decide on the setting style - definitely antique-style, but prong set or collet set? Not the best photo, but the stones are well-matched, and nice makes, H/I/J/K.

2. OMC 3-stone using this 1.56 K SI1 stone for the center - I need to figure out side stones for this one.

3. OEC half-hoop - 8 x 3.5mm salvaged from this brooch.

If I get any of these done, even just one, I'll be thrilled.

I strongly endorse all of these projects even thought that five stone layout is making me rethink all my own plans o_O

I absolutely love yours! It’s definitely my taste as well! I can’t wait to share it!

I'm so sorry for your loss! I hope you find a piece that reminds you of your Nona.

I think a necklace is so versatile. I've been looking for an antique Albert chain as well! I have been looking at preloved items especially on Cash Converters lol and they're negotiable so you might be able to find a chain there.

Great idea!!

Thanks!

That's probably the biggest size I can wear comfortably, even for the dressiest events!

Hence I believe my big blue-green Tourmaline from Jeff is destined to be a brooch-pendant.

BTW, the deeper blue Aqua roughs as seen in his latest Gem Scoop do not thrill me; good job too as I am not getting anything from him for a while after the Emerald he is holding/cutting for me.

On to 2025, with some repeats from 2023 and 2024:

1) Get lab diamond set into a simple solitaire e-ring.
2) Get lab tsavorite set into custom-designed ring
3) Get mali garnet pair set into simple bezel stud earrings, maybe

4) Get thicker chain for light pink lab sapphire pendant
5) Get yellow gold shield ring repaired

6) Inventory jewelry with photos, descriptions and receipts.
7) Wear each piece at least once, including costume jewelry
8 ) Yearly de-clutter
