Hi All,
Newbie here who needs some advice.
I am currently shopping for a blue sapphire for my e-ring. YAY! Anyways I hope we are done shopping for one because my SO bought one for me and it came in today.
I have done a ton of research on sapphires. A lot of good info on PS btw.
Right when we decided to start ring shopping I instantly found a ring I loved. To bad it sold the next day. All it said was a 1.5 carat blue natural sapphire in halo setting with split shank. Real helpful description I know....So I have been trying to recreate this ring.
After looking at a ton of sapphires I soon realized really didn't like the look of the really dark blue and saturated stones. I wanted something brilliant but translucent, and not too deeply saturated. (I know Spinels are a great choice, but sapphires are my birth stone and my mind is set) We almost bought a stone from gemfix, but then I found this one on ebay and I had a gut feeling, so he bought it. I know it is not considered a top quality sapphire by any means, I was just looking for a stone that I loved. But at the same time I hope we didn't buy driveway gravel either. So just needing some reassurance and advice on the stone other than my own opinion.
Here are the stock photos from the ebay listing:
It was listed as such:
2.13 ct
8.96 x 6.45 x 3.63mm
VVS
Rectangular Antique Cut
Unheated Sapphire from Sri Lanka
There is a noticeable inclusion on the bottom right corner hard to see in person and I am like 80% sure the prong will cover it. Also the saturation is not amazing and I am okay with that.
Here are my crappy iphone photos I just took:
Next to my grams OEC pillow E-ring and wedding band
Enjoy.
