I remember being a pre-teen, going thru the huge Service Merchandise catalog. And making lists of how I would decorate my house someday. And my husbands wardrobe. And my kids clothes. And most of all - my jewelry. And tallying up how much it all cost. (How weird is that?) ( actually it’s embarrassing )
But I remember thinking if I could someday just have an emerald ring, a ruby ring, a diamond ring, and a blue sapphire ring.....i’d be pretty dang happy.

As I kid I always wanted one each of emerald, diamond, ruby and sapphire rings. Rather than buying lots of other rings and stones that I would save up until I would get the desired size, shape, quality and design of each ring.Good things come to those who wait. Gorgeous sapphire and wonderful choice for the setting! Caysie did a beautiful job, as usual! I have a folder of inspiration rings, and I actually have the VCA vintage ring with that style halo saved!!! I considered it for my yellow AVR, but I ended up doing the Casablanca.

My first job was working in the Service Merchandise jewelry department! Then I moved up at the age of 16 to a high end jewelry store. I have a lot of gold jewelry from there - very 90’s. Now I work in biotech but I feel like jewelry is still in my area of expertise!

Was the brooch in bad shape or did you just decide that you would wear a ring more than a brooch? Those are gorgeous diamonds in the halo so it must have been a nice brooch. Just curious because I’m tempted to take apart old jewelry to make something better but it’s so hard to mess with vintage pieces.
