Hi everyone,

First of all I am so grateful for the wealth of information on this site. I already feel so much more informed about my engagement ring choices, and I don't think any other spot on the web compares! Anyway my SO and I are searching for the perfect round solitaire engagement ring. We've been led to Brian Gavin by several sources, and since I want a solitaire, I want to go with the best cut we can afford in order to have the most brilliant ring possible. Our budget is 8k and I want a platinum setting. However I cannot for the life of me pick a setting!! There is a long solitaire thread here that was a great help, but I am wondering if anyone could possibly post their own BG solitaire rings so that I can get a better sense of what they look like in "real life." It's difficult to visualize a ring without seeing it on a hand and in more natural lighting, and the BG site has limited photos of their rings. Right now I am trying to narrow down among these choices, but I'm not getting anywhere:

Thank you in advance for your help!

Definitely the Tiffany style half round! Such a classic and elegant setting. I think 6 prongs look soooo much better on a round stone but it is really personal preference. My husband proposed with a 4-prong solitaire and a few months after we got married I sent it off to BGD to switch the head to the Tiffany style 6-prong head and I am SO glad I did!

+1 This is the setting I really wanted. I think it is such a classic and so lovely with the half round band. I couldn't pick that as I bought my diamond from Whiteflash. I still really like the setting though:)

+2 I have just purchased this exact setting from BGD, Tiffany half round 6 prong. I haven't received it yet so sorry I don't have any pics, but when I decided on a plain solitaire setting there was really no match. I think its defines classic elegance that will never date. I went with platinum.

Thank you all for your suggestions...and I agree the classic Tiffany setting is lovely!

Personally I love the Elegance and the Eternal Grace, followed by the Grace. I don't like 6 prongs on stones under 1.5 carats as much as I like 4 prong settings.

It's a matter of personal choice though.

I do not like the Melanie at all.

If she likes Cathedral: Then the Elegance.
If she likes four prongs and no Cathedral: Eternal Grace or Grace.
If she likes 6 prongs: Half-round.

Thank you so much for linking to these pics--I've found pictures of my favorites. I think I am narrowing down my decision!

I prefer the plain BGD tiffany 6 prong half round setting. I have a 6 prong version from VC and I think it makes the diamond pop!

Thanks for the helpful breakdown...at this point torn between Tiffany half-round and Eternal Grace. Since we won't be getting much more than a carat, I'm concerned that the 6-prong won't look as good/will cover up more of the stone.

I would go with 6 prongs BC with 6 prongs, you are safer if a prong gets bent.

Also, I wouldn't worry about the prongs covering the diamond up BC BGD's prongs are delicate claws. :twirl:

My stone is a 0.79ct so I was definitely worried about switching the head to a 6-prong one because of the size. Honestly, my stone looks larger now than it did with the 4-prong head, even though the 4-prong head sat higher. BGD does perfect dainty claw prongs so I really don't think you need to worry about that.

Interesting that your stone looks bigger now! That's great :)
