I feel sluggish and just ick today.

My back was injured in a car accident in 2004 and I never got it corrected. (combination of lousy doctor followed by loss of insurance :nono: ) I bent over in the vet's office to feel my dog's jaw and when I went to get up something just went wrong. So after several days of not being able to so much as dress myself or get out of the shower without assistance, I went to a chiropractor to see what is wrong. My spine has a bit of a bend to it where one disc is out of place and others are tilted instead of straight. I've spent the last almost two weeks seeing the chiropractor 3x/week, getting anti-inflammatory injections, and in general just not able to move much. After making some progress, he finally gave the okay for very moderate exercise bicycle (I can manage less than 1 mile on lite resistance before my back says I have to stop) and short walks (I can do 1/2 mile or less).
I haven't even dared to look at a scale :errrr: I've been being super careful about food but I know I'm up a bit ;(

I know that I have to take it slow and not push or I will do damage to my back. The dr is making good progress and I do feel improvement. It just sucks!
Oh no! I hope your back heals soon!
 
Forgot to tell you guys that I lost about 2.5lbs on the "3-day Military diet" - you can google it.
It wasnt THE WORST but it wasnt super easy either. The 3rd day was pretty tough. I can definitely see myself doing it again at some point to get a kickstart or get off a plateau.


I am down 42.9 as of this morning. Wheeeeee

Another gain. I'm up another 3.2 lbs.

Boo. Gained this week. I'm bummed...again. It was a rough week with WAY too many meals out and things going on. We're back to normal with no outside interference for a few more weeks. We'll get right back at it.

Keep up the hard work! Not every week is a loss. It is difficult when life throws events at you -- what is it with every event in life having to be marked with high calorie foods?!?

My back is still messed up but doing a bit better. I'm still not able to exercise as much as I had been, but at least I can do some. We've also had a holiday and my birthday in the weeks my back has been messed up. So I've been unable to exercise much but did manage to eat cookies, go to a wine tasting, and enjoy most of the large "chocolate decadence" flourless cake (from Whole Foods) by myself. Oh... and the dinner at the winery restaurant where I ate enough richly buttery stuff to decide I'd never eat again.

Not as bad as I'd feared. I'm still sitting at 194.6.
 
Thanks TP! We're just trying to find a balance of living life and enjoying time out with friends/family and also balancing a healthier lifestyle.

Yay Audball!

I need to get back on the scale and start moving my butt again. FI wants to start doing PT with a group of people at work every morning. We'd meet them somewhere and do heavy workout for an hour then back home to shower & dress for work/school.
My classes this next quarter should let us do that okay enough.

If I can do that and maybe keep doing the exercise bike at home, I'd be doing very well. Okay... and maybe cut back on the food portions. I've been lax about measuring and I noticed that they've grown again.

Up again, boo! I'm so glad the craziness of March should be behind us. I swear I've gained and lost the same 2-5 lbs week after week the last month. Two more weeks and FI's crazy study schedule will be over too. I'm looking forward to us both getting out and being more active together and getting 100% back on track.

I was down 45.5 this morning - which is wonderful. I think I have MAX 17lbs left... maybe as few as 10. So thats nice!

Keep at it! Just do the best you can and stick with it all. Your schedules will get better and your body will be ready to lose the weight.

Besides -- Only 17.6 pounds and then you can go try on dresses!!!!
 
Ouch.

FI's co-worker group decided to toss off the list anyone who hadn't shown up at least once. So we went on Friday. When we got there, I was skeptical and didn't see how it would be any exercise at all. I mean playing tag at a little kid's park?!?
We were warned to sit down when we needed to and not to feel bad because no one ever makes it all the way through on their first day.
"tag" wasn't just a half hearted game of sort of walking after each other. This was a full blown wall-climbing, rope bridge running, net climbing sort of game and these guys move fast! Every time someone gets tagged, everyone drops off the play toy and does a set of flutter kicks. Each time that happens, the set gets increased by 5 kicks. You've got 5 seconds to get all of your kicks done, get back up on the toy, and be ready to avoid being tagged.

Neither of us made it the whole time. It was fun and boy do I hurt! My muscles really had to work with all that!


The group meets Mon-Fri and the occasional weekend activity.
Mon -- run a mile, do upper body exercise, run a mile
Tues -- run a mile, do ab/core exercise, run a mile
Wed -- TBD each Tuesday night. Can be health class or other activity (soccer, ultimate Frisbee, etc)
Thurs -- tag
Fri -- tag


We're going again tomorrow but will meet them at the 2nd spot since neither of us is up to running a mile yet. (let alone having to do another mile after intense exercise to get back to the car...)

Weight -- I'd gone back up to 198 ;( but am back down a bit to 196.2 this morning.
 
Lived through the 2nd day. Upper body.... eek!

Started with 30 push ups, then 30 "seals" (like push ups but slow and start with butt in the air), 100 above head claps, 100 reverse above head claps, 200 out to side with clap in front, then rope climbing, hanging upside down and maneuvering on the rope things, another 30 push ups, back to rope climbing, 100 above head claps, another 30 push ups...
Keep going for one full hour!

I couldn't do it all, but the group is super supportive and wonderful. I never felt anything but welcomed and comfortable. (well, except my muscles that are still aching...)

Tomorrow is abs & core :errrr:
 
Way to go TP! That sounds TOUGH! But it also sounds like they're a great group of people!

FI and I are back on the wagon this week. With all the weekend festivities, we totally missed our weigh in. Rest assured, I'm sure they were small gains, lol. But we'll have another weigh in come Sunday for better or worse. We will make those numbers start going back down!

I read a great quotation on a sign recently. A store I drive by likes to put inspirational or funny quotes on their big board. I can't remember it exactly, but it was great -- "The key to success is getting up one more time than you fall down."


No abs & core this morning. The alarm went off and I could barely manage to sit up to get it shut off. My abs are already sore from what we've done. My arms are killing me.
Taking the day off. Back to it tomorrow.

It's true! This whole thing is a journey. You aren't going to lose weight every day or every week. Life happens and you should enjoy it. The key is learning your own balance and, like you said, get up again after you fall down.

Sounds like your body needs a day off anyway! Rest up and get back to it!
 
Missed workout on Monday. Just too sore after a few hours of heavy duty garden work on Sunday. Tuesday was core and abs. Sore,but not as bad as it used to be. We were told to meet the rest of the group at a different park today since there is no way we would have kept up with the 2 mile run there and 2 miles back. Did a bunch of pushups, flutter kicks, and other stuff for 20 minutes then another 20 minute fast walk. Abs, core, and upper body all worked!

I also picked up an exercise ball kit to use on any day we miss the group. It includes all sorts of stuff including yoga, tai chi, strength building, and muscle stretching. Looks like it might actually be better than I expected.

I'm staying off the scale for now. I am moving better and able to keep up better. Might check the scale next week.

Two weeks since I've updated. We both gained last week and lost this week. More/less evened out. But we have officially joined the gym and made it three times last week for an hour each time. We're going again tonight (Mon/Wed/Sat looks like the days we're aiming to go each week). We both were a bit deflated with how little we felt we lost after working hard at the gym and not cheating with food at all, but down is down and we have to remember it's a journey and not a race. I'm 3.2 lbs from my previous low (hit on 2/24) and FI is similar amount from his previous low as well. We're trying to just focus on one day at a time and see how that goes.

Worked hard this week. Made it to the gym 4 times for an hour each time. Ate 100% on point, no cheating. And am completely disappointed with only a 1 lb loss. A loss is a loss, I guess, but I was really expecting more. Thankfully it didn't deter us from getting off the couch and hitting the gym today. I'm just hoping to eventually see a better result of what feels like hard work.

Made it to the gym 4 times again. Lost weight, but still not as much as I was expecting based on the work we put in. We're getting frustrated but trying to push forward. Down 1.4 this week, 34.4 total, and I'm only 0.8 from my previous low before I'll be making brand new progress again. Must keep moving forward!

Totally frustrated. I killed it at the gym this week. I ate on point. I lost nothing. I also didn't gain anything, but ugh! One month into working out consistently with eating on point, and I only lost ~3.5 lbs in a whole month! A month! Ugh. Keep moving forward, I guess.

Sorry, been super busy.
Wound up dropping one of my 4 classes so now I'm only in 3 (14 credit hours -- 12 is full time, I had been in 18). Not a great instructor and I just wasn't going to do well. Now I can focus on doing well in the other 3 and try the 4th again later.

With all that homework and stuff I've not been getting enough sleep and "A" has had lots of homework too. Plus FI with mega deadlines at work...

All this slowed me down massively. I've been staying off the scale still, but based on fit I haven't gained or lost for the last few weeks :nono:
Final exams in just a couple of weeks!

I had to go buy some pants for our camping trip :errrr:
Couldn't really go in my standard black dress slacks...
Anyway, it was SOOOOOOoo horrible. Wound up with a few things all in size 16 :sick:
Worst part was probably when the "misses" section was not working out well for me so I moved over to the "women's" section. A woman started complaining that she couldn't find anything her size and her friend loudly stated that this was the section "for fat people"


Trying hard to get back in the routine. Just had so much going that something had to give.

Summer quarter will hopefully help -- yoga, adult fitness (required exercise hours per week plus start/end fitness tests), and self defense.
 
We had a bad week. We lost our sweet miniature schnuazer, Mimi, and have been off track, depressed, and over eating/under exercising. We talked over the weekend and agreed we couldn't just keep being bad with food/exercise just because we're sad that she's gone. We weighed in Sunday and have been perfect so far this week. Really hoping for a turn around. Gained 2.6 lbs.

Aww, thanks maccers! They're not all down! Hah. But I post every week to stay honest. I always think I'm mostly posting to myself here, but I do it anyway! Glad to know someone is inspired. :))

I'm back to more exercise again but being careful with my back. I can't have any more setbacks this close to the wedding! It hit me yesterday -- just over 3 months :o

Currently back up to 201.2 ;( :nono:

Hopefully will drop as I've got more time to cook healthy and the weather is good enough to get super active. Also starting yoga next week (one day per week, but it is better than none!).
