I am just beginning to look at bridesmaid dresses. I want to keep the cost under $200, and preferably under $150 if possible. For those of you who have been looking, can you offer suggestions for designers in this price range?

If you go to theknot.com, you can search BM dresses for one $ sign which is under 150 i beleive.

I'm doing similar, except we're using black cocktail dresses b/c I dont want them to have to get alterations and I want them to wear them again.

That''s a good idea. I would love to find something that they could actually wear again.

My BM dresses were from Forever Yours and cost about $120 retail, but were cheaper because I bought my dress from the same store.

One of the things I liked about this company was that you could customize all the colors on the dress with any of their colors (and they have a lot). A lot of the dresses I looked at from other companies, you could only pick pre-set color combinations or just change the dress color and not anything else on the dress (sash, bow, trim, etc) or had limited color choices for these items.

ETA: I have had 2 of my BMs wear their dresses again, which was my goal as well.

After 6, Dessy, Alfred Sung. All same grouping I think. My girls dresses wre Dessy and they were approx $120 and definitely something that could be worn again.

Ours cost $148 at White House/Black Market... simple, black, knee-length, halter dresses... my bridesmaids ordered them online and got them in the mail just a couple days later... and they all LOVE them!!

Ann Taylor actually has a nice line of Celebration dresses. Jcrew also has a wedding line that is very pretty.

ooohh ephemery, yours is one of my very favorite bridesmaid dresses I have ever seen.

TiffanyTwisted, I agree that the Knot is actually a GREAT way to search for BM dresses, just to see what''s out there.

What time of year are you getting married?

What are your colors?

What style are you looking for? Strapless/halter/separates?

I am getting married May 12, 2007. My colors are pink/silver/black, and I wanted pink for the bridesmaid dresses. As far as style I don''t yet have a preference. I do really like that Ann Taylor dress posted above though. I was in a wedding where we wore separates, and I really liked those, I think mostly because they were easier to fit. For those of use who are more "pear shaped" it''s great to order the top and bottom in different sizes!
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I looked at the knot and there are a ton in that price range!

under $200 is easy.. and under $150 is pretty easy too.

Jordan - I''d say almost all their dresses are under $150 - Especially if you go through an online retailer like netbride.com . My girls bm dresses were $93 from netbride. The dresses were about $130 retail.

Alfred Angelo - Again almost all under $150

Eden - I didn''t look at these much, but the ones I did look at were very reasonably priced.

Dessy/After-Six/Alfred Sung (all the same designer, different labels) - These have a wider price range.. I looked at dresses by them in the store that ranged from $120 - $ 220 but again if you go through netbride.com or something you should be able to stay under $150

Watters was my other favorite when looking for BM dresses, but in the stores most of them are over $150 and many are over $200.. but again you could find a big discount online..

oh and David''s bridal of course. I think every thing there is under $200.. most under $150.. No available discounts online though..

Thanks Fancy!! I can''t tell you what a relief it was to have each of my bridesmaids tell me how much they loved the dress. One of them actually mentioned wearing it to another event before the wedding... we''re hoping she was kidding!!

But the buying online process was shockingly easy... I''d highly recommend it! Plus, remember most typical BM dresses require alterations, which can jack up costs considerably... off-the-rack is a really nice option if you can make it work.
