Buying Moissanite from Tianyu Gems

Hello all sorry for reviving a post from several pages ago but I would love some advice. Ella from tianyu just sent me the CAD and would like some input on any adjustments I can make.

Compared to the stock photos I provided them, it seems like the band width is quite thicker on the cathedral support portion of the ring. I also asked for 1.8mm for both width and height. My girlfriends ring finger is size quite small at 3.75 (between 3.5 and 4) should I go for 1.7mm instead?

I would typically agree with these measurements but that is a teeny tiny finger. It looks like this is a comfort band and not a knife edge? I have a ring simiilar to this in the knife edge in almost the same dimensions but I wear a size 8. I think the width is probably fine but I would try to reduce the thickness at the top and center points as they usually make the rings thicker than the CAD’s. If they could make it 1.6 and taper down to 1.5 mm, I think you would be fine. You don’t want the ring so wide that it becomes uncomfortable to close her fingers. I can already tell from your inspiration ring to the CAD that it is going to be too wide. We spent a lot of time re-working another PSer’s ring and she had the same problem and likened it to a flounder because it was flat and wide. I don’t want to discourage you, but they seem to have a problem with tapering the rings at the head with these cathedral settings.

I have uploaded these pictures before but they illustrate what I mean. The diamond halo and morganite were made in LA and the one on the bottom is from Tianyu. Mine ended up being 4mm which is ridiculous but for her finger size, if it ends up being over 2mm because they don’t curve that head in, it will get uncomfortable for that petite finger.

I'm almost ready to place my order with Tianyu, but Ella did not send me a paypal invoice, just a pdf called a Proforma Invoice and gave me their paypal email address which is [email protected] Can anyone confirm this is actually their paypal address?

They always sent an invoice to my paypal address, not the other way around. It should be a company invoice request for payment unless this is something from Alibaba checkout and not PP. I would ask her to send you the invoice.

I’ve always received what @maredith received and paid via PayPal to the address listed. I haven’t had any issues.

I get it - there are a few so us who are size-sensitive! I’m sure it will sell quickly.

Okay guys..I need help because I’m obviously technically challenged. I’m ordering a pendant from Tianyu..I used an email from this thread and contacted Ella. She gave me a quote..and told me that I could pay with PayPal..She gave me a link that was just an email. I know the price but there’s no invoice. I use PayPal
all the time but not like this. Did you just send money and there’s no invoice? She didn’t ask my name and address or anything. I’m assuming it would be the one on my PayPal account but this feels weird. Instructional help please...:kiss2: Thank you!

@Mamabean I just ordered - Ella asked for my paypal email address, and sent it to my paypal account. I didn’t see a notification, but when I logged into PayPal, I had a money request from her

I don’t know my paypal email address. I’m so dense. I went into PayPal and someone can pay me now but not me pay them. How do I know my PayPal address?

My paypal email address is what I use to login.

I didn’t get the request..but I put her email
address in and I was able to send it that way. It wasn’t easy...:rolleyes2: Thanks

@elizabethean Thank you for helping last night..I did order my princess cut pendant from Ella. I’m so curious to see the color difference from this stone which is def and the princess and asscher studs I ordered from Diamondrensu in India. I went back and forth with him about it being very important to me that they were colorless. He finally said they would be fg which was as close to colorless as I think he could get. Chinese vendors seem to be able to get whiter stones. My earrings from Diamondrensu are being held up at the usps in New York. Who knows when they’re heading my way. I heard horror stories that the packages are sitting there for months! I’m really looking forward to the princess cut pendant from Tianyu. If they’re great and colorless I’ll order princess studs from them if the Diamondrensu aren’t truly colorless.

Yes, it is that easy. They don’t send you any Invoice. I have bought studs from them, and I have paid through Alibaba. It was quite easy, and they have a very good buyers protection.

I finally figured it out because I’ve always just plugged in my password and that’s it..Now that I know how to do it it’s easy..but I didn’t go through Alibaba..I went through email and had to do PayPal that way. The Alibaba was probably easier..but now I’m in and I can order without a problem!:lol-2:

Hi swaye2010,

Would you mind illustrating the following? "Reduce the thickness at the top and center points as they usually make the rings thicker than the CAD’s. If they could make it 1.6 and taper down to 1.5 mm." I would like minimum 1.7mm thinnest width as most have recommended that.

I'm planning to edit the CAD directly to provide back to Ella, thanks !

I took a shot at modifying the CAD, please let me know if this is what was described as tapering the ring thickness at the top and mid point of the ring. Yes this is a comfort fit band. I also modified the width of the band from 1.8mm to 1.7mm. Any input would be appreciated! thanks.

I think what I meant was that the 1.8 width is probably fine. You don’t want it to be too thin and since this is a comfort fit band and not a knife edge, you don’t have to taper that. I was talking about the profile thickness. You can do the 1.7 mm and taper down to 1.5 mm at the bottom or it can be a gradual taper from 1.7 to 1.5 mm. I only suggest this because her finger is so tiny. The comfort fit bands are more forgiving than the knife edge bands though so these small changes are not a huge deal. I would just remind them with the final CAD about your inspiration pictures so they keep the cut out’s around the same,

Thanks for the response! I updated CAD again with your feedback, I hope this reflects what you were suggesting.

Other way around...then you will be fine. The width is the side view which should stay 1.8 mm.

Sorry! I hope this time I got it.. third times a charm!

Yep...good to go. Make sure you see a pic or video of the stone too before they set it...

Long time lurker. Question. I need to sell my ACC (with the round culet) ring from Tianyu. It's size 4.75, 14K white gold setting 7x8 stone. Bought in August. I'm not soliciting, I'm planning to list on DB, but I need to know what to reasonably list/sell it for. Thanks for any help. I need it gone, but don't want to overprice nor get hosed.

It’s listed in PS Preloved Gems.

Thanks!

So I went to get my finger measured today at the mall at ALL of the jewelers lol to make sixdruple sure what size my finger is before placing an order and I got anywhere between a 5.5 to a 6.5. The average was 6 though. Do you think it’d be safe to go with a 6 for a wedding set?

@tonielle Do you have a ring that fits really well consistently? I’d actually have them measure what size your best fitting ring is. I feel like ring fit can be somewhat subjective; for example, I like the way a 6 feels but I had one jeweler who told me I should really be wearing a 5.5, but I know my rings that are a 5.5 fit tight in summer and don’t care for that. Also, if you were measured by several, your finger might be a little irritated or swollen by the end from taking on and off sizers. Just a thought ;-)

You’re right, it measured 6.5 after I tried on a size 6 ring at a Claire’s LOL and it got STUCK! I guess I shouldn’t trust cheap toy jewelery sizing. I got a size 7 stuck on my finger the other day from those teeny bopper stores.

That is why I went to a bunch of different stores today. I used to be a size 5 and couldn’t believe that I am now a size 7, especially if I could still put the size 5 ring on, though it squished at the sides, I could still get it off. I just didn’t believe my finger grew 2 whole sizes lol

I find if the band is wider I need a bigger size. If it’s thin I can go smaller..

Hi all..I just got my cad for my princess cut pendant. I have no idea how to read a cad. The sides are one block of metal and I would want a cut out so light can get inside..also for aesthetic reasons. Is the bale too thick? Should I send a photo of a pendant with the sides the way I want them? Do I draw on it? Any suggestions would be great. @chunkyfacetlover :) Could you take a peek? Thanks! This is the only photo I could find to describe what I’m looking for on the sides. I blacked out the bale because it was different.
