Buying Moissanite from Tianyu Gems

I got a price from Tianyu for a 3 stone ring with a 7mm round center and 5mm side stones, all GH, in 14k white gold and it was over $700. Last time I got a quote for just the loose stones it was under $200 SHIPPED if that tells you the price for the setting. I got a quote from StarsGem for the same ring and it was a little over $400.

I also got a price from SG for an 8x7 Old Mine Cut in IJ, and it was around $130 before shipping. I know Tianyu is way higher. I can get a 9k solitaire made by SG with the 8x7 IJ stone for $305 SHIPPED, so your pricing doesn’t sound unreasonable from what I’ve seen from Tianyu’s quotes. Their prices have absolutely skyrocketed in the past few months. So much so, that I can have my three stone made by David Klass using Tianyu loose stones, and it’ll only cost me a couple hundred more. No way I’d choose Tianyu over DK for that small of a price difference, but that’s just my opinion.

I’d try StarsGem or Mona (formerly worked for SG) since she’s gone out on her own. I hear she’s wonderful to work with.

Mona’s info is on another thread, but I haven’t talked to her personally. I’ve been chatting with Demi through Alibaba messenger. I think it’s just luck of the draw when you inquire through Alibaba. Like whatever rep is available sends you a message. I could be wrong though. Cherry is another I’ve gotten quotes from. Her WhatsApp is +86 189 7748 6191. I don’t have Demi’s unfortunately. After dozens of photos I think you can see the petals in the pics..Yesterday I thought the setting looked cheap but realized it’s because it’s 2mm and I never had a setting that narrow...but I did ask for that size....I went to my inspiration photo and it had the same dimensions..so that made me feel better...There are a few changes but the dimensions in mm are the same and that setting is 2k so I’m happy. I also asked for 14k which is much lighter than platinum so that’s why it feels light to me..I like that it’s a slim band so I can fit it with my vintage engraved diamond band which is pretty wide..I couldn’t wear it with anything else..so no new setting now because I love it..I’m impressed with the stone and setting.
I also LOVE my princess cut earrings...They’re bright white, colorless with a beautiful cut..I wish I went smaller but know the DSS will arrive to take care of it! I’m weird in that I like smaller diamond earrings..I wanted to put the princess earrings in but I couldn’t do it..and take the pic..

My emerald cut is done! David sent a video and pic last night! The way the photos are taken you don’t see the steps popping on or off..same thing with the video but I love it! I think it will eventually wind up on Instagram because the video has music..haha

Your ring looks almost exactly like the ring I had made and received this week..except for the shank. Mine is round and yours is flatter. I went back and looked at my photos and the prongs do look like they stick out in mine but it’s because of the thickness of the metal that swoops up to become the prong if it makes sense. If you scroll up to look at my photos you’ll see that in real life they look small and very nice. Mine looked gray too but they’re doing the video on a black background so it picks up the color. Mine is very white..I hope this helps.
What do you use to post videos? I can’t figure it out except for YouTube which I think will show my real name...which I don’t want. Thanks!

Mine looked gray as well. It's a beautiful white stone in real life. I was also afraid it was going to look "mushy" with undefined facets based on the video/pictures. The moissanite is very crisp and the arrows are clearly defined. The prongs on mine are very tiny, almost to the point I worry about it. So I think having slightly thicker prongs isn't a bad thing. It'll look amazing on your finger, I'm sure.

I received my 2 carat total weight, FG color martini studs today. I am surprised how nice they really are. I have to get used to the size as I had only had .62 each J diamond studs before. My poor J’s do not compare. Once I get used to size I may need to look into upgrading those. My ER is a F and 1 carat.

So, there was a shipping mix up with my ring, and they swapped the recipients of my ring and another ring. The ring was delivered while I am out of town, so it will be a couple days before I can confirm and deal with it, but they are proposing that we (the two recipients) mail the rings to each other. It isn’t in my nature to make an issue out of these things, but I kind of feel like I should be reimbursed these additional shipping costs. Last time I mailed jewelry with insurance, it cost about $20. Not a huge deal, but seeing how I already paid them $35 to ship it, this bugs me a little. But then on the other hand, I just want to fix it with no more ado and have the matter settled. Anyone been in a situation like this?

This happened to me with Starsgem. I took a pic of the receipt and they sent a credit to my paypal. I am sure that Tianyu will do the same. Mine had to go to Canada so it was very expensive. If you are both in the US, I would send it flat rate shipping with insurance which will be somewhere around $10.

Thanks for the tip! I've contacted Mona, I'll post on her thread when we have something. Only glitch is I'll have to order the yellow sapphire from Tiyanu and have it shipped to her for setting as she said she couldn't source the corundum material. Excited to see how this goes! I had the 18K white gold and palladium mix in a ring. The rhodium plating doesn’t disappear as quickly so they stay shiny longer. The other person who bought this mixture still had a reaction to it so I know it must contain traces of nickel, although less than regular white gold. The platinum ones avoid this but I heard they can be kind of heavy in the martini settings on the ears. As long as this is not a problem for her since 6 mm is a pretty decent size stone. I think the G/H is still very white but it depends on how she likes her stones to look. You can always go up to ‘F’ from G/H but I think that still falls into ‘colorless’ which can be an icy type of white. If she has a diamond ring, I would probably follow something close to that color.

Sorry, here is the picture from the video that Tianyu sent me. It is a 2 carat center and she asked if I liked the X or deep cut. My ring size is 9 so I would like larger stones for greater coverage.
