Ok, I know it's been a while, sorry ladies!! I thought this time around instead of a "Weight Loss" thread, we could do a "Getting Healthy" thread. Share what you are doing to prepare yourself for the big day and your progress!!

I work better when I'm in a time crunch, so 2 months ago I promised myself that I would start my 30-day Shred (Yes, again...) when I had 30 days left!! Well, I'm at 31 days, and I'm going to start tonight. I have already started eating healthier again, and I'm on my second day of only drinking water. No sodas
9.gif
. (This is purely for skin glow/cleanliness and to make sure I am completely hydrated for the entire week of the wedding.)

In the last month I have made it back down to a steady 133-136 (morning/night). I don't want to lose any more weight really, I am ideally just trying to "tone-up" what I've got! So here we go again... 30 Day Shred
3.gif

How is everyone else doing?!?

Yay mere, that''s fantastic!

I''ve slowed on the weight loss, mostly because I''ve not been trying. Haha!
3.gif
Since September though I''m down 13 pounds to a happy 142! I think I want to start toning more than cardio at this point, or my dress will be crazy expensive to alter.
40.gif

E-pics on Sunday, b-pics in 2.5 weeks. Crap, that''s coming up fast! I need to do butt squeezes at my desk.
3.gif

I''d love to join in on this!

After a spring full of not working out due to getting engaged, moving, and finishing grad school, I am finally starting to refocus on getting healty/in shape. I joined a gym about 2 weeks ago, and I am signed up for a triathlon on Aug. 23rd! My goal is to run and bike two times each a week, and to swim once (hardest for me as I don''t actually have easy access to a pool right now). This week has been busy so far - I did go to a spinning class on Monday but I''m working on finishing up my thesis as well and I feel like that''s taking all my free time. E-pics in 32 days - wanna look a little more toned by then!

Keeping calories under 1500.

Working out when I can.

Drinking tons of water and green tea. Umm ... which is SERIOUSLY helping my skin. No breakouts right now!!

Woohoo! Way to go Meresal. I''ve also cranked up my get in shape routine in the past month. I now am consistently taking a gyrotonics class once a week. I started running everyother day as of two weeks ago, and as of Saturday, I now own a bicycle! So far I have done two 3.5 mile rides. I think I''ve dropped the crazy above where I should be 5lbs already, and am now working on the real tone-up, drop down a size or so. AND get my lung power up.

We are doing an extensive hiking trip in CO in just under a month, so that is my short term motivating goal.

Ugh, I''ve fallen off the wagon big time and now I''m only 11 days out. I know my dress is still going to fit, but it''s more just about how I''m feeling about myself and how I look. I refuse to do any crash diets, but I am upping my water/tea intake (mmmm green tea!) as well as my veggies and fruits. I''ve also cut back on salt, though I can''t seem to give up my morning diet coke *sigh*. I''m bloated and I''m due for AF, but she''s not shown her ugly face yet so I''m hoping that the bloat will get better once she''s here. I just hope the stress isn''t holding her back. It would really stink to have her on my HM or be preggo (!) and not know it yet...see...the stress is making me crazy and irrational. I''m not prego! So we''ll see how the next week goes.

FI is doing fantastically well on his SB diet. He''s down from a 34-36 to a 31-32. He wears his pants under his belly so to be honest he was probably a bit bigger to start. His belly is almost gone now and so are his love handles. OMG, I''m so mean.

My wedding is the day before your E-pics! I was hard pressed to get toned up for mine and I'm sooooo glad I did. Good luck with training AND getting your thesis completed!!

Elle- Congrats on your clear skin!! I don't usually have break-outs, but with these Texas summers I don't want to take ANY chances!

Meresal, I think we are date twins....what a great idea to start the 30 day shred! I want to play, too!
I''ve fallen off the wagon since going to Vegas in the beginning of May and need to tone up as well. My main problem is turning to food when I am stressed, which leads me to feel crappy about myself and then I dont exercise because I feel yucky. So I want to get back on the ''healthy train!'' where I am eating well, feeling motivated, and WANTING to exercise.

Before Vegas I was on such a roll - 30 day shred or lifting weights on my own, going for long walks, treadmill at the gym, etc...I want to get back on that - i started to feel so great and most of all, CONFIDENT.

When I went to get my dress altered the other day, they pulled to top to show me what it would look like after they took the sides in and all I could focus on was my back chub hanging over the top in the back...and I got sad. Instead of doing something about it, I reached for some cookies....what''s up with that?!! From now on, I want to reach for taking a walk when stressed, or doing a few lunges or squats!

Here''s to a healthy week...and month!

But in my defense, it was by birthday weekend so I had to eat a lot. Forced, even! I still have 1/2 a Godiva chocolate cheesecake in the fridge! Oh the humanity!!!

Oh, what a great idea. I need to seriosuly make an effort now for my end of August wedding.

I am already upping my intake of water and I shall be starting to take long, brisk walks etc.

My wedding is August 1, and I seriously need to get my butt in gear to fit into my reception dress! I''d like to slim down about 5 lbs and tone up. Currently I''m about 130lbs and 5''4.

Now that classes are over, I''m going to get back to my ideal gym routine (30 min cardio, 30 min weights/strength training, 5dys/week). My real challenge is dieting since I am a junk-food junky and so is my fiance, lol, and neither of us cook so we eat out a lot. I''ll try my best though!

Wow everyone - great job!

I''ve been using sparkpeople.com to track my intake - trying to keep cals under 1300. I have a gym membership, but with being hurt I can''t seem to make it over there as much as I want to. So damn tired all the time. Anyone have any hints on boosting energy?!?
I''m also only drinking water with one glass of iced tea at dinner!! That does wonders. 4 months til wedding today... still would like to lose 10 more lbs, lost 7 already!! :-)

so...since I got engaged, I''ve lost 17lbs and had facials once a month. I''ve really cut down on my portions which is really the key for me. I was eating soooo much before. Anyway, my wedding is 3 months away and I''m hoping just to maintain. I''m 5''3'''' weighing in at 125. The funny thing is that I didn''t know I had that much weight to loose. It all came out of my chest and my butt.

Anyway, I''m in the gym 5 days a week right now trying to cut down on my weekend alcohol intake.

I used to get at least 1 candy bar per day - that an extra 300 calories per day. Now, I have trained myself to think it is a HUGE no no. I haven''t bought anything from the vending machine for a while. I gained around 10 pounds in the past few years with that nasty habit. I am hoping to lose that 10 pounds before my wedding, but a muscular 10 pound loss if you know what I mean. Right now I''m at 130-135 (depending on the scale) and I would like to be 120-125.

one interesting note: since i stopped pigging out on junk food, my ring has been looser, which is a good thing. :)

Great thread!

I am exactly one year out, and very happy with my weight (125ish)...so I just need to keep it this way! Particularly b/c the dress I plan on ordering is very form-fitting on the tummy and hips...so I''ve started crunches, squats and push-ups several times per week (Ok, this is my first week
3.gif
)with the intention of just keep everything tight and toned. I am really hoping I can keep this up for a full year. I have been the same weight for about 4 years, so I would really have to screw something up to not weigh this amount in one year!!

I think my one "worry area" is my arms...I hate my arms. I think they look awful in pictures, and with a strapless dress, I want them toned! So about 6 months out, I plan on buying dumbbells to do more toning on them.

Just wanted to add a side note: I heard in the news the other day that people that drink diet soda have a tendency to gain 10 lbs. Don''t remember why or how, so can''t give you proven facts on that. I have cut out my diet coke which is what I used to drink in the morning to give me energy
emsad.gif
. However, I found Crystal Light Strawberry flavor for energy, and it works better than my diet coke, plus it''s not as bad for you. Aside from those extra 15 cals, it''s well worth it.

Good luck to you ladies!! :)

i decided to try the women''s weight smart advantage one a day vitamins....bc i''ve never taken a daily multi-vitamin. and WATCH OUT!!!!! i tried these for about a week and they actually made me sick....not just a little nauseous, but running to the toilet sick. they were slightly better when i took one on a very very full stomach, but eeeh! so not worth it.

This thread just motivated me to reschedule my personal training session that I had to cancel yesterday for today! Now that school is over and I am done working I am going to commit myself to going to the gym 5 days a week (opposed to 3 days).

For my skin I have been using Philosophy Microdelivery Peel once a week for my face. I also make sure to exploliate the skin on my body, too. I have an appointment with my dermatologist in a couple hours to see if there is anything he recommends I do. I will report back!

COCO, this happens to me too with vitamin pills, whether I take them with food or not the end result is the same, within minutes I am violently ill and actually vomit.

Since then I take a soluble vitamin as a drink, I use Berocca daily and have never had a problem, plus this vitamin really helps.

not personally (none of my friends will touch it after my experience), but i did some research later and found out that this is a very very common side effect!!! so my feeling is that it can''t be healthy

We have another PSer in the HLT this affects so it isn''t unknown.

Well ladies....count me in. Wedding in roughly 5 months (holy cow where did the time go....seems like I just got engaged)!
I''m currently hovering in the 120-125 range and I''m 5''4. I don''t need to loose weight per se but I definitely need to tone up...My main concerns: Legs, butt, arms.

I was doing great on P90X for about 3 weeks...Don''t know what happened but I lost interest and therefore motivation. I''m still doing zumba twice a week though
9.gif

I promised FI that at 6 months out I''d start "Bridal Bootcamp"...which mean I have to get my a** to the gym! My main problem...finding motivation and getting to the gym. I think I''m going to hire a personal trainer. That way my $$ is holding me accountable
2.gif
.

I already eat pretty healthy, and I drink water like a fish. My only vice is coffee in the morning. I''ve cut back from a full cup to a half so I''m heading in the right direction...I tried the hot tea and it''s just not the same
14.gif

Coco: You absolutely need to take all vitamins on a FULL stomach...I''m the same way you are with that sort of thing...I''ll puke for hours if I don''t eat something substantial... I usually take my vitamins after dinner b/c that''s usually the largest meal of the day for me.

Is it the one with iron? I used to have that issue too, but I switched to one without (or maybe just the one that doesn''t say ''+ iron''?) and I''ve been fine. They do say to take them with food though.

an interesting study I found in my hubs book the triathlete''s bible. The study was down by some hosp but I dont remember who... sorry

Active athletes were put on a diet. 1 group had to exercise more to burn 1,000 calories extra a day their diet stayed the same 1800 calories a day. The other group, had their calories restricted to 800 calories a day, but kept their activity level the same, (note which IS STILL VERY active IE biking running or swimming for 1 hour a day... for most ordinary people, would be what is considered, a normal workout.)

The results. After 1 week the group that worked out more lost ~ 1.7 pounds on avg. The group that ate less, lost ~ 4.7 pounds on avg. The study concluded that a calorie isn''t just a calorie when it comes to weight loss. However, the more lasting weight loss came from the increased workout group. The dieting group lost more #s on the scale, but the weight was lost in their muscles more than the blubber. The study also concluded that if you are cutting calories, it is more important than ever to keep the PROTIEN and healthy fat in the diet. However most dieters cut this first and eat more simple carbs and sugar, ie fruit.

Just thought I''d pass along some interesting info.
