I'm pretty sure that it's legal in France. And in the UK where I live!! Except that we call it a marriage for heterosexual couples and civil union for homosexual couples. The only difference is in titles, not the rights involved. I really don't understand why the different titles but whatever floats people's boats as long as it's equal.

"'This decision will give Americans the lived experience that ending exclusion from marriage helps families and harms no one,' said Evan Wolfson, executive director of Freedom to Marry, who noted that same-sex marriages were legal in Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, South Africa and Spain. "
