Thanks gemfever! Gemgirl, DH and I will be in NYC from the afternoon of June 7th through Saturday night June 9th. I am planning tongi to IDJ either late Thursday after I get in or Friday morning. Do you have any interest in meeting there? Let me know.
If you guys end up deciding to meet up for a trip to IDJ... could I potentially join you? If you go on a Friday, I'd try to make the trip up from the DC area. A visit to IDJ in the company of PSers would be totally awesome.
Sure GEmfever. It would have to be on the earlier side on Friday, as IDJ probably closes early for Shabbos. What time do you think you'd be in the city?
Hmm... *looking up bus tickets* I could be there at 5.30am or 10:45am, but that might be a little late. I still have to double check whether it will work out with work, but I wanted to start making potential plans.
Well, why don't you see what time you want to get there and we can set a time to meet and anyone who wants to join us is welcome. I'm not going to have tons of time, as DH is with me and will only tolerate so much bling oogling (makes me wish I was coming on my own...forget quality time with DH! )....
If you're going to be short on time and with DH at IDJ, maybe it wouldn't be the best time to meet up. You should go at a time that works best for your schedule, and I'll stay in DC and work diligently at earning some money for my own visit to IDJ sometime.
I have to admit though, your oval is one of the most unique and beautiful I've ever seen, and I would so love to see it IRL one day.
I have a feeling DH will drop me off at IDJ and agree to pick me up at a designated time (or find a Starbucks nearby)....I'll probably have a couple of hours to "play". I don't blame you for not wanting to make that trip for a couple of hours. If some of the other NYC PSers wanted to join and I'd hang out with ya'll briefly, that would work.
I'm dying for a PSer to see my oval too! None of my IRL friends appreciate it or understand what it is! I'd love to drool over each other's bling!
I remember in another thread (about my parents stolen jewelry ) you mentioned you live in ATL... perhaps when I'm vising my folks sometime, we could grab some coffee? As for meeting up in NYC in a couple weeks... if things are very slow at work I may still do it, but otherwise -- have fun in NYC and at IDJ!
Yenny, those cabochons and jackets are amazing! I'm always looking for new ways to wear my Brian Gavin jackets! I'm definitely going to steal your idea!
Thanks Sharon! I can't wait to go up to NYC next week and meet Yeukitel and have him set the chrome diopside cabs that I have!! More photos will follow!!
yennyfire, I am considering getting a pair of 5pt jackets for myself for our fifth wedding anniversary in March (already have a pretty eternity ring and a lovely sapphire RHR). Are you getting reasonable everyday wear out of them? And have you gone mad on the cabochon studs? Also, have you considered drops? I was thinking about getting some chunky baroque drop pearls to wear with them...
They are my daily "go-to" earrings, either with one of my 10 pair of cabs or with my oec studs....I love them! They go with anything I wear and are subtle, which is my style. I'm not sure how drops would work? Unfortunately, my pearl earrings are too large for the jackets....
You can do a drop pearl on a loop that hangs from the back of the jacket. The wire should be totally hidden by the jacket. Princess Mary does it with her pair of diamond and ruby clusters. When I saw your cabs, I immediately thought of the look:
PS: I too would LOVE to see photos of the cab collection! I know I would want some amethysts and garnets and tourmalines and maybe something green in colour (green tourmaline? Chrome diopside?). I want some faceted sapphires as I have a beautiful haloed sapphire ring... And some pearls too. And maybe some dark red spinels...
Ohh, that's pretty cool misskitty, but really formal (for my lifestyle).....if only I could be a princess. Snort.
We have tornado warnings going off around here (Atlanta area), so I'm guessing I won't be getting much sun today, but I took the cabs out and will work on it.
One thing I will say is that you definitely have to go lighter in color than you're thinking or you can't really see any color in the cabs once against your ear...I made that mistake with my amethyst and garnet pairs and therefore, don't wear them much.
Here are a couple of crappy photos. It's pitch dark here (tornado watch), and I don't take good photos under the best of circumstances....I didn't include my yellow, as I'm really not happy with them.
Here are a couple of bad photos. Its' raining here today, so this is in my kitchen. I didn't include my yellow cabs because they are not the shade I am looking for....
These studs are amazing! I wasn't really in the market for some studs like these until I saw yours. Can i ask where you purchased all these studs? I'm not even sure where to go to purchase these.
