Ahhhhhhh!!!!! Woohoo! Did your dealer provide any pics?

Or specs? How are you going to set it???????? Or I should say...What will you have your Leon do with it????? Heehee!

Ahhhhhh!!!!! is right. I don''t have pics yet, though I''ve seen it. It''s 7+ct. My dealer says that he can''t do any better in terms of colour. I''ll be setting it with shield-cut diamonds on each side, but I don''t know when I''ll get round to it. My Leon?

Sounds just gorgeous! You WILL have Leon make the setting, no?

Yup.

please tell us more about your new ruby!Is it a new stone or was it cut in the 20s or 30s when sugar loaf cuts were popular?A modern or deco vintage setting? How big?ect ect ect....Congrats by the way!

I''ll be happy to share more when I get more information. It is a new stone. It used to be a high-domed cabochon weighing 10+ct, but is now a sugarloaf of 7+ct. The setting will be vintage-y, though I suspect it''ll be a while before I get around to it. Thanks!

lookin foward to it!

A sugarloaf ruby. That just sounds amazing. I can''t wait to see that!!!!

I saw quite a few cabochon sapphires while looking for mine. Mostly at jewelry stores that sold estate pieces, but I saw a couple modern pieces. When I was picking out my sapphire, the sales person asked me if I wanted faceted or not. Which kind of surprized me.

Here is a link to my favorate cabochon....a little expensive, but fun to look at

Oh I can''t wait to see it, Harriet.
This is beautiful sugarloaf ruby, isn''t it? Model Amanda shows a 37.52 carat sugarloaf Burmese ruby ring, a pair of Burmese ruby and diamond ear pendants set and a 130.42 carat Sri Lankan spphire and diamond pendant necklace, in Hong Kong 16 October 2006. The ring with an estimate of 7.8 to 12 million HK dollars (1-1.5 million USD), the ear pendants at 2.8 to 4 million HK dollars and the necklace at 640,000 to 800,000 HK dollars are to be auctioned in November.
