I've found several resources online that say you can calculate pavilion and crown angles if you have the depth & height %.
Pavilion Angle = Tan-1 (Depth % / 50)
This doesn't seem to add up with Emerald Cuts. For example the excellent cut depth % range per IGI is 47-53. If the only variable in the pavilion angle equation is the depth % this would mean the correlating angles within this range would be 43.22°-46.66° all of which are out of range. I've tried this equation on emerald with known depth % and pavilion angles and they do not compute correctly.
Does anyone know the correct way to calculate this or can let me know what I'm doing wrong?
