I have found one online vendor www.astjewellery.com based in Toronto, and wondered if anyone has heard of them, or dealt with them for a diamond mount? I am wondering about the quality..the prices seem reasonable. I got a quote of $1500 (CDN) for this ring shown. Are there any other places in Toronto to buy a quality setting from, or have one made? Any experiences..either positive or negative, so I know who to deal with, and whom not to? Seems like slim picking here in Canada..unless I''m just not looking in the right places. Thanks

Beau--I had my e-ring set by Victor at Rose Jewelers. He is in Dundas Square (downtown T.O) he is known for great craftmanship --he is Turkish i believe, learned the family trade and moved to canada. His work space is a mess of tools, materials and 'stuff'--don't be put off by that if you do go see him, this guy knows his trade and came recommended from a respected PS vendor .
Hope this helps!

The setting is very nice. Here are some others to check out. I haven''t used them personally but heard good things.

There is one more but I am drawing a blank right now. It is the jeweler that is usually recommended by USACerted Diamonds.
Thanks so very much Charmy Poo. I will look into both those places. If you think of any others, please post? Muaaaaaaaaah!!

Just to add .. the Rose Jewelers that was recommended was the last one I couldn't remember :P

By the way, the quote you got - what material and what quality diamonds was it for?

This particular jeweler (ast jewler) will use F/G color stones and SI-1 clarity, in 18 k white gold. If I don't go with a halo (although I'm pretty sure I will)..I really like this other style ring he has, only the center shank will be plain gold, and the two outer will be diamond (one ring, but looks like two diamond bands surrounding the e-ring). He e-mailed me pics of 4 other halo styles he can create for me, and they were all very pretty!

LOVE THIS ONE!.jpg

I like the setting you selected the best. It''s beautiful. If you want to venture in the US, I find that Maytal Hannah (www.maytalhannah.com) sytle is similar to the ring you like. My personal preference is for very dainty and delicate jewelry - she made my e-ring but it is my grand looking.

Check out http://www.henridaussi.com/ too. They have some nice halo styles. If you can find a ready made setting that you like, it is often a lot easier to go that route.

Hey Beau. I've been reading about your concerns. I have to say, I like the second ring pictured here way more than the halo design you're looking at. I wouldn't want all that pave to deal with in the long run. I'd rather go with something I like right now, and maybe save up for a couple of years for my absolute dream ring that could be totally custom. Don't rush it. Although I love the setting I picked for my ring, I never thought of it as my absolute dream ring. It was something I loved in my budget *at the time*. I might even reset it again someday and put an aquamarine in this setting. Who knows. For you, I wouldn't recommend any of the BK settings. I don't think they are substantial enough based on what I "think" your taste is. They are very delicate and not a lot of gold. If you like that first setting above and it's in your price range right now, why not just try it out? You can always reset it with a coloured stone later if you get tired of the look or the maintenance. I once spent a lot of money on a custom design that I ended up disliking fairly quickly but then felt stuck with, so I may be a bit biased, but I also like a lot of change in my jewellery over time.

I'd rather go with something semi-custom like the 2 rings you've posted here that are available in Canada too. It's just easier IMO.

UPDATE:

I found another wonderful lady in Toronto (Samuel Kleinberg Jewelers), who sent me a quote for this halo setting. Made to order, according to your diamond specs. 18k white gold. SI-1/ G colored diamonds approx. 85 carats, for $1900. A little over my budget..but what heck..so is the new luxury SUV I''m looking to buy!! lol. I''m hoping for more pics so that I can see the profile, and gallery of the ring.

beau, just make sure the empty corners in the square halo with a round stone won''t bother you. deejay discovered the holes did bother her when she first had her stone reset into a squarish halo. she ended up having the stone lowered enough to be acceptable to her but just wanted to point it out in case you hadn''t thought about it.

of course, if you would be having a round halo made, then disregard my comments.

Thanks..but I do have it down to a science. A collage of photos, of how I want the ring to look from every little angle. I would hope that the designer would know to work the gold/diamonds in a way that won''t leave those those empty corners. BUT..the way my luck has it with e-rings..even a 4 page outline along with 38 different photos, still won''t ensure the final product looking the way I had hoped and explained! lol

No it doesn''t. I learnt the hard way :P
