Calling all color wizards!

Hi all,
I am not great at 'reading' colors, especially ones with overtones/multiple colors at play.

The 2 pics below are my dream diamond. Obviously I'll never be able to buy a 200K plus stone, so I'm looking for a brown/pink zircon to satiate my desire for this color plus be sparkly.








Got these options today (attaching 3 pics from different angles)










In my eyes, the middle 2 are the closest in color to the "holy grail" diamond. Am I wrong, or do others see the same?

I don’tthink you have to pay a lot necessarily with a diamond of that color, depends on carat and what colors are noted on the report. I absolutely love this color and own a diamond with very similar color, so you could actually contact the vendor and ask for similar colored stones but in the orangy brown range, sometimes pink is not noted but it is there. Do not give up on your dream! The Zirc are cute and you can start with that or get both.

haha thanks! I've talked to David a bunch of times, but finding the exact color is pretty impossible. Also, if I want to stay under 2500 it likely means 1ct or potentially 1.25ish, but certainly not as big as I'd prefer overall. But you're right about not giving up on the dream

I had to zoom out in order to get the pics on the same screen, and the pear (second from the top) is the closest match to the diamond from what I can see.

Those zircons are so pretty. I agree the two middle ones are the closest to the color of the diamond. However, I love larger stones, and while I’d opt for the pear, you will need a custom setting for it. It is a fat pear and I don’t think a calibrated size.

I LOVE the larger pear as well, but it's bigger than I originally was wanting, and since I halo everything (because #halolover, I worry it'll be too massive to wear in my real life). Also I like that it's chubby

I agree with @dk168 and think that the pear is the best color match to your dream diamond. The oval has flashes of the right color, but it reflects a lot of gray, so much so that the first hand shot shows the color you desire only on 5% of the surface area.

Good point, I didn't really consider that (that the oval is best from certain angles, whereas the pear is consistently close to the color I like).

One pic of just the 2 ovals makes the pink oval look great, but I almost worry its *too* pink compared to what I want.

These two ovals are the ones I picked out of the lineup, and of the two, the fat oval is my favorite. It has the creamy pinky color I love. I agree, the longer oval on the bottom is "too" pinky.

The top one to me is more browny pink than any of the others

Team pear here, it seems the closes to me.

The skinnier oval seems more pink, and the wider oval seems more yellow.

The cushion feels more orange.

But.. they’re probably all within the margin of variation from a photo + lighting conditions.

Gorgeous stones! I would order both and return one as long as the seller knows and is alright with that. You are looking for such a specific color that it would be good to have both options in hand to compare them. I can’t wait to see what you think of the stone(s) in person!

Yeah, she is being incredible and is totally fine with me seeing them in person. I'm going to go for it and order both so I have zero doubts. I've been looking for sooooooooo long (I think it's been literally 1-2 years now), so I don't want to EVER wonder. And if I end up spending a lot of $$ (for me) on a 12ct pear, then so be it

If you want to take a zircon, the pear IS the best match. It is still a pink more cold toned pinkish than the diamond. I agree that this is an insanely gorgeous color. Ah I see that you have tried to get a similar diamond already, I just wanted to make sure that you are not settling. I can go crazy obssessed when I really want something and have to literally slap myself mentally because I get impatient and want to get a quick substitute. As long as you will be happy, that’s all that matters. You know yourself best. My diamond is also in that 1-1.25 range but I prefer the right stone rather than a large stone as I can always halo or play with the design otherwise such as making a cluster. But then where I live this size is already way over what people regularly wear. The zircons are pretty!

Pear! I see more (purplish) pink and gray in the oval than in the diamond

I would go for the chubby pear (which has the best color, I think) and a small, barely there halo to accentuate the stone. I think the result would be divine.

All I can see is that pear. PEARlicious! I love it! It speaks to me. Does it make your heart jump? Something about it makes me swoon! The color, the shape and it does seem full of personality.

Yeah, I got a lab diamond that was close to this color and which is gorgeous , but after having it for a while I realize it's not exactly the color I want (not quite tinted enough for me). That doesnt mean I'm not happy with it, but means I'm still looking for the *perfect * color
