Calling all color wizards!

Pear is the closest colour but I see that you're saying it's not the right colour (not tinted enough)? I'm sorry but I don't understand your explanation.

Oh crap sorry, I wasn't being clear. I was trying to reply to another member who asked about my previous purchase of a lab diamond (which is gorgeous but not quite tinted enough for me)

I love this project!!! The middle two are both beautiful, but the pear is exceptional, IMO. Wonderfully proportioned, cut, and colored. I think you will regret it if you give that one up.

Very excited to see what you do with the stone you choose!

Oooooh keep us posted! I love Zircons and frequently get asked if my champagne one is a giant diamond.

So, I love that pear. I loved the diamond pear too.

So I'm going to do one thing that might rain on your parade (or not, heck you might love this)

Have you seen any of those stones in direct sunlight? Just my own experience that these color zircons can black out in direct sunlight...(why is it not all zircons but especially champagne, some yellows, imperial pinks and reds?....Can someone answer this?) But if you are cool with this particular phenomenon then go for the pear, I love the cutting on it. should not be too pink.

hard to tell on the color until you have it in hand but i think you ordered the closes matches. that fatty pear looks super cool.

Yeah, I'm going to look at it in all lights, because I know zircons can be shifty and/or darken in sunlight. I appreciate the reminder about this!

Ooooo they came!!!!! Lots of pics, will do 2 separate posts. Mostly the pear here and pics of both in various lights.

Post 2 with shots of the oval in diff lights, plus both stones in their boxes 20200305_112137.jpg20200305_102356.jpg20200305_112139.jpg20200305_112212.jpg20200305_112210.jpg20200305_112215.jpg20200305_102407.jpg20200305_112221.jpg20200305_112216.jpg20200305_112228.jpg

What does everyone think? I am very torn here. On one hand, I think the pear facet pattern is gorgeous and lively and the color is nice. On the other hand, its huge and I am not sure how I could ever wear it.

The oval color is also excellent and doesnt look grey IRL to me (there is some bowtie, but I dont see grey persay). It would be easier to set, and I sometimes prefer the oval color because its lighter/more open.

Ugh! Decisions! Haha :)

@lovedogs that pear has neither a bowtie nor a dark point, it's about as close to perfect as a chubby pear can be.

I'm no gypsy fortune teller, but I think I'm beginning to see a ringdant in your future. :mrgreen2:

still on team fatty pear but that would def be cocktail ring territory so depends on how you envision wearing this piece. good news is it looks like you can't go wrong, the best dilemma to have =)

I love the pear but if it's too big for you then go for the oval if you think it will scratch the itch for that color. Otherwise, don't settle.

Can you get both? Pendant for the pear, and ring for the oval.

Bah so conflicted. And @T L you are such an enabler!!!! I'm going to think overnight and see how I feel in the morning

That chubby pear is gorgeous!!! Definitely team pear here!

Huge cocktail rings are the best!

Can't wait to see what you decide.

Omg I love them both!Stunning color and stones! If you are firm on the halo I would go for the oval. You can also do a hidden halo on the pear so it won’t look so big in the end! Both great!Let us know what you decide and what the final product will look like!

That pear does not exhibit the usual downsides of pears such as tip darkening, bowtie and all that whereas the oval sometimes exhibits the usual stuff we see in ovals. I say ROCK the PEAR. :praise:

Another vote for the pear.

As some of the PSers have commented in the past, there is no such thing as being too big on PS!

DK :lol-2:

I'm also team pear. The bowtie on the oval may not bother you, but it bothers me. It's the most noticeable thing I see in the pictures, which is not the color that looks like your dream diamond, whereas the most noticeable thing I see when I look at it is the color, which reminds me of the diamond.

I'd normally advocate for a recut if there's a bowtie on an oval, but in this case I think the color would lighten on the entire stone, so it's not a good candidate for a recut. I hope I'm not being too harsh, as the oval looks fantastic in sunlight. I love all the pictures of it under the sun, but in the shade that bowtie irks me, and I'd personally make the choice for a more consistent performer than one that varies depending on the light source, since this is not a color changing stone.

Immediately favoured the pear here too. Team pear for me! :kiss2:

@lovedogs what are the dimensions of the pear?

Enablers want to know! ;)2

They are both so pretty! Is one more your ideal color than the other? The pear is drop dead gorgeous and the oval is such a beautiful color and looks like has more fire in the photos. It’s a tough decision for sure!

That's what I need to figure out today. Color trumps all else for me, since the color is what I've been searching for. I just need to spend more time with both in different ligjts, etc.

Sooo I'm team pear because you really got a great one there. I'm a sizewhore so what can I say? I also have big ol fingers....lol

BUT

I also like the oval too. its smaller so therefore, you might wear it more. slight sun darkening but not a blackout. Its rare for an oval to not have some sort of bowtie, this dosen't look too terrible though its visible in some lighting conditions. Color on the oval looks pinkish compared to the pear though, at least on my screen. Yes this is more everyday stone. Be sure that bowtie isn't a deal breaker.

So yeah, pear, some darkening but not black, which is what you want. the cut is really nice, usually pears have some issues with color concentration at the tip and this one? very little! If you do a halo do small stones if you're hesitant because of the size. It has presence on its own, will not need help if you go with a halo.

You got your work cut out for you! Both exhibit very nice qualities and don't appear to black out which is amazing.

Haha darn you, enablers!

12.2 x 14.9 MM

That's a fabulous size, the pear in DW's ringdant is 11.2x16.0.

Although you might have to settle for a single halo rather than a double. :mrgreen2:

I love the pear. If you have to pick one, that's my vote. They're both so pretty though.
