I’m needing your help fellow PScopers in selecting a stone. It seems like it’s a bit easier to gauge how well a round or princess will perform however, when it comes to a cushion, it appears I have a lot of learning to do in selecting a good one. I really don’t know all of the various cushiony facet styles other than I want it to sparkle.
I have seen some stones that others have selected that appear to have “dead spots” in vendor or stock photos that look absolutely magical once set. Not to make it any more difficult but, the stone I’m looking at is a colored diamond. Having owned a few of those in the past I know that they are not always cut for maximum sparkle but to maximize the color. But I want maximum sparkle!!
So here are the specs of the stone I’m looking at. My main area of concern is the “dead spots” surrounding the stone itself, though I don’t know how apparent they would actually be in real life. I should also mention that the setting I’m considering would involve a full bezel and I don’t know how that might also affect the stones performance.
GIA, 1.15, VS2, FLY Cushion Modified Brilliant,
Even Distribution, Polish & Symmetry Very Good, No Fluorescence
Medium-Very Thick (faceted) 64%, 65.7%, none
5.87 x 5.69 x 3.74
Below are the vendors pictures! Thanks for your help! I also added a picture of an oval stone side by side the cushion in question as I was comparing them.
