Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Jas, sorry the eczema is so horrible right now

Did your doctor ever recommend anything for you? My after-shower routine is now like 20 minutes long between face moisturizer, eye cream, belly cream, nipple cream, and now hydrocortisone under the arms. I suppose I should enjoy the time while I have it since in a few weeks, even a shower will be a luxury I think!

Yes, "helpful advice" is so annoying, isn't it?! Yes, if you've gone through something similar recently, then sure I'll take some advice, but just because you had a baby 35 years ago does not make you an expert in it now! I think it's probably a little worse with twins because people with NO experience in twin pregnancies whatsoever make these really rude comments.Yes, of course, I'm bigger than your daughter/coworker/neighbor was with one baby -- I've got TWO babies, TWO placentas, TWO amniotic sacs filled with fluid, MORE blood, etc. It's not just an extra 4 lbs. of baby in there, you know! It's really made me think a lot about what I say to people, that's for sure! Your friend rocks for the constipation/hemis reply, by the way -- that's hysterical!!

As for BF, yes I'm pretty nervous about it too. Most people have said that it's much much easier with the second child, so I'm hoping that one of my babies will count as a second child and that we can make a go of it (wishful thinking?). We'll go broke if we have to buy formula for two babies
6.gif
Scares me to even think about it.

Some resources one of my classes recommends are:

La Leche League -- THE group for BFing
"The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" -- book by LLL
"Breastfeeding Your Premature Baby" by Gwen Gotsh (if that applies)

I haven't checked out any of them though b/c I got a multiples-specific book.

Another website I like is http://www.kellymom.com/

Ellaila,
I''m not sure if having twins counts as breastfeeding a 2nd child.
9.gif
I think the reason it is easier the second time is that you already know what to expect, plus knowing the skills of handling the baby, the latch, the positioning etc.

(sigh) Oh just burst my bubble, chrono!

I was mostly kidding about one of the babies being a second child b/c I figured that it was experience that made it easier the second time ''round, but on the other hand I was thinking that since I''ll be feeding more, maybe my body will adjust to it a little quicker. That''s my naive "I''m not a mom yet" mentality anyway!

Thanks for the other BFing link too! Like I said, I know nothing about the things I posted so some first-hand experience with good resources is probably better than me just throwing second-hand info out there!

RE: lactation appointment....I saw them almost everyday while in the hospital. It did help but obviously things (like an iv in my arm) made it tougher. I had some damage done (blood, cracks from bad latch...I''ll spare all the gory details the first day) so it was hard to know if the pain was new or b/c I was healing. Before the appointment Tessa had her first doc''s appointment. I was so nervous about her weight check b/c she was 6 lbs 8 oz when we were discharged (which is a higher than normal weight loss) but she weighed in at 6 lbs 15 ozs!!! Almost her birth weight in less than a week!!!

So she is getting food for sure!

Then we went to the lactation place. Turns out I have a fungus infection (b/c of all the antibotics I was (and currently am) on. The fun just keeps coming!!! At least it is an easy fix. They think I caught it really early. Basically my nipples always burn (TMI, but in case it happens to someone else). She said I was doing great and I think the other ladies made it more complicated than it needed to be. Tessa is pretty good at nursing. She feeds in 15 minutes. We weighed her and sure enough she ate almost 3 ozs. I think she sounds like a frat boy at a kegger. She just gulps it. Also I have A LOT of milk. She said I had enough for twins
23.gif
So I am hoping once I treat the fungus it will be relatively pain free. Today was the first day I fed without a nipple shield. It is harder for her to latch on b/c I have so much milk (too round, like biting into a big sandwich they said). So much easier. I hated dealing with the shield but it did help in the begining.

Ok, going to go nap. Later ladies!!!

That''s good news, Tacori! Hopefully you''ll see some lessening of the pain very soon! Your milk will level out eventually and the whole thing will be SO much easier! Don''t forget our pictures...when you are up to it, of course!

that is good news tacori. I think your supply and demand starts to regulate and you won''t have a ton of milk like now. of course, i have heard of women who just have a seemingly endless supply of milk, but for me, it regulated and I didn''t overproduce.
and ditto DS on a couple of pics when you can

Okay last for now. Kind of a wierd angle (she was on my lap) but it is so funny when she crosses her eyes.

Haha. I have my wedding photos on here somewhere. I think as of now (how can we know this early?) she is a mix. She has her daddy''s mouth for sure and his long eyelashes. My mom said my face was really round like her''s when I was a baby. Plus as of now she has my hair color but that can change of course. She gets lots of kisses

Thanks skippy. I am very glad she is here at last (even at 4:00 AM when she is crying and I have NO idea what to do). I know (well, hope) it will get easier. And she is so cute it is hard to be angry. I found this pink onesie at Old Navy that says "worth the wait." I figure it was fitting for her since she was a week late!

Tacori, you are making me smile from ear to ear; I can totally hear your happiness in your post! I love that you found that onesie! Yay for Tacori and Tessa. Sweet dreams to you and Tessa

ella - it is amazing how fast December 13th will be here

jas – I forgot to ask my friend about the exzema cream, but I will ask this weekend. I remember her husband oohing and aahing over it and I know it worked wonders for him.

tacori- Let me tell you I just want to nibble little Tessa up. She is adorable and that full head of hair. My of my she is a cutie.

I also have BF on the mind. I’m going to be home for the birth but will be back in China a few months after that and I’m really nervous about much of the baby stuff. I am hoping that I will have no problems BFing because I’m not sure I can trust the formula here if I can’t BF.

So does anyone else look at their dh and think that with the right combination I might have the most beautiful baby in the world, but if it goes wrong let me tell you the poor kid will have a hard life. I never really noticed until recently how close set dh’s eyes were mixed together with my little tiny eyes would not work. O please let the little one get the best traits from each of us. please, please, please

I think everyone does that, lol. I only had two requests for my baby #1 that she didnt get my husband''s honkin nose #2 That she has good skin-. I still cant tell whose nose she has & I hope there is a cure for acne in 12 years or so but for now it''s perfect.

Tacori Tessa is a beautiful child! I used to work as a neonate nurse and gosh we loved these little 6lb babies. In my hospital anyway we all used to dream of having 6lbers with gorgeous small head!
I got my wish and both my kids were under 6.5

What a beautiful baby!

Tacori,
if you have a lot of milk, (or a fast ''let down'' reflex, try pushing on your the top part of your boob as Tessa starts to feed. Don''t push deep in or on a hard spot (that is a spot where the milk has built up and will make it flow faster).. it is hard to explain, but it''s like you have to try to slow it down. I had to do that with my 2nd son, he gulped so much soooo fast and had the burps so bad it made me cry for a few weeks until I figured this out.

Tacori,

I just wanted to congratulate you and your DH. Miss Tessa is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy every minute of her.

~K

Tacori, Tessa is a doll!! What color eyes do both you and DH have? Curious if her eyes will stay blue or not. I''m definitely getting into the home stretch of my pregnancy b/c seeing newborn baby photos just does a number on me now!

Glad to hear she''s gaining weight and doing well!! And I hope that your infection clears up soon -- what a crazy week it''s been for you, woman!

Rebot, yes, I love doing the "I hope baby gets YOUR ____ and MY ____" game
21.gif
Hubby''s got a full booty (he''s a speed skater so he''s got some developed muscles!), so I always joke that our baby girl has his butt already since she sticks it out and makes me lopsided!

What a gorgeous baby tacori!!! she had such squeezable cheeks!!! enjoy the time you have with your beautiful tessa....she''ll grow so fast.

Tacori,

Tessa is such a cutie pie. I can''t believe all the hair she''s got. i don''t think my girls had that much until their frist b-day''s, they were baldie''s. anyway, i hope you are getting rest and the bF is going better. it will get easier with each day. thanks for the pics and feel free to post a ton more

Tessa is beautiful! I love her full head of hair and cheeks!

Oh Tacori, Tessa is just beautiful!!!! I love the scale shot--there''s one of Lily just like that on here. She''s really adorable, great hair, great cheeks!!!! I''m so happy for you! It''s funny because Lily looks JUST like DH, like it''s not even funny. And I''m ok with it because so far it seems like she has my personality and that''s all I wanted for her since DH is moody and I''m generally happy!!

Tacori,

Tessa is beautiful!!! I usually lurk on this thread but I had to chime in. Congratulations to you and your husband!!

Awwww, Tacori, what a little angel! She is just beautiful!
