Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

MrsS, first I have to say I love the belly pic! I posted my last message and thought saw later that people were commenting later. I am thinking, what belly pics! But I guess you posted right before me and I didn''t see it!

And CONGRATS on your boy! Boy oh boy, I bet you are happy! I am so excited for you that everything is looking great for your bubba.
1.gif

Tacori, I LOVE Tessa! She is so cute and the close up picture just makes me laugh. Man, all your babies are coming out so..."whole" looking. I expected them to be more shriveled or something...

LOL Jas, you are funny. I really should take care of myself better. My bedtime routine goes something like this. Crash on bed. Nearly pass out. Think to myself, "sh*t, forgot to put on that cocoa butter stuff." Pause. "F*ck it." Crash and burn.

Lili, HOORAY for the healthy amnio! And a girl! I''d love a firstborn girl, but I think I am getting a boy. At the doc''s today, they had the gender in my files but I told them I didn''t want to know. At one point the nurse said "he" but then said we should call it an "it." I''d be happy with either, but since I think it''s a boy and I am getting myself used to the idea. Funny, I didn''t have to have a full bladder at all for the ultrasound. Must depend on the kind of equipment they have or something?

Diver, keep us posted...I hope all is well and don''t worry...I am sure all will be fine.

Everything checked out OK at the docs. He doesn''t recommend I fly to Australia
40.gif
but not because of the flight. He is giving me the go ahead but wants me to take it EASY. Ugh. I didn''t even think it would be an issue but I guess part of the worry is if anything happens mid flight, we''re over water and can''t land.

So in case we do have a girl, we are down to two names. Amelia Renee, which I have mentioned before, and Amelia Skye. Skye is a bit more "out there" in terms of a name, but I like the sky reference...as in "reach for" and that Amelia Earheart loved flying. Any votes? I don''t have a preference either way right now...especially since I think I''m getting an Aaron James.
41.gif

Curly: So you had this too???? I''m so freaked out its not funny. Did they say what caused it? I tried reading online and it seems like ANYTHING can cause it. Allergy, overgrowth of bacteria, STDs, etc. etc. so its a mystery to me. I''m just peeved because I was in perfect health when I had my GBS swab before I had Delaney. My stepmom thinks I could have picked it up in the hospital during one of my internals. At any rate...any type of infection "there" freaks me out because of location, cervical cancer scares etc. What did your doctor say to you when you had it?

Oh geez, I just wrote out a whole post and got an error message.

Anyway, Diver, I had it in college. I don''t remember it being a huge deal but then again, I was young and not as informed at the time. I went for my pap and they told me my cervix was inflamed and it was probably some kind of infection from who knows what. I had to use the cream internally and then went back for another pap and everything was fine--no biggie. I think your stepmother is right, any time something foreign is introduced to that region of your body, you''re susceptible to catching something. I wouldn''t stress about it too much if I were you, especially since your doctor isn''t freaked out and you tested negative for HPV. It''s probably just one of those things--some little bugger got you. Stay strong, sister and keep us posted.

TGal- The nurse let it slip? What a bummer. But a boy is fantastic! Just think, if you do end up having a boy and then a girl after, she'll always have a big brother to protect her from awful boyfriends. I always wanted a big brother.

I really like Aaron James, by the way. It's classic! As for your girl names, I think both Renee and Skye sound great with Amelia.

EBree, it''s still a mystery. I don''t know if the nurse slipped. I always call the baby a "he" too. It seems kind of normal to me. She may have said he in the same manner, but then backtracked because it''s not a he, or didn''t want to confirm it''s a he. Who knows. The bottom line is we won''t know for sure until it''s out, which means it''s still a surprise!

(but I think it''s a he. Heheheheheeeeeeeeeeee.)

Thanks girls again for thinking of me. We are very happy to have a girl!

Ebree, we did in fact have a name picked out.
First thing out of DH's mouth when we found out we were pregnant is that our daughter is going to be called Jadelyn.
Then he's stop at that. Couldn't think of a boy name. He joked with my nieces saying that if it is a boy, he'll trade him in with one of them.
My older sister has 2 little girls and the younger one volunteered to be swapped
9.gif
Anyway, so you can see why DH is so antsy about wanting to find out. We still have the middle name to work on though. At least we don't have to worry about agreeing on a boy's name. So far, all he can come up is Jadelyn_NOT for a boy's name. I can just see it, she's going to have her daddy wrapped up in her little finger.

TGal, I thought for sure you would be having a girl especially since you told us about your dreams. Usually mommy's dream are pretty accurate.
It could be that the nurse refer all babies as "he" :) The u/s technician was referring to our baby as "he" a couple of times even though I think she saw that it is a girl. Sometimes people have a tendency to use he over she. I know I always do the opposite. When it's a boy, I said she and when it's a girl I said he. Must be dyslexic or something
3.gif
Either one, I know all you care is that the baby is happy and healthy. I love your baby boy's name. Will have to keep all these names for future references should we have a boy
3.gif
Both Renee and Skye are very pretty for a girl's name.

MrsS, I think Jake is such a cute name. I'm sure Diver thinks the same too. Hubby can think of another one for the middle name then.
Did you get any good ultrasound pix to post?

Ella, I think your lopsided belly is the cutest. You and Diver are so lucky, it doesn't look like you got any stretch mark on you. Yep, the kicks are the greatest. My nightly ritual is to drink a cup of water and just flop into bad and place my hands on my belly for the nightly kick
3.gif

Diver, thinking of you. Hope it is just an infection that can be taken care with the cream.
Keep us posted. And of course keep us posted with new pix of Delaney. She must be so big now at 6 weeks.
It never ceased to amaze me how often and much babies change in matters of days.

Snlee, it's getting close to your big test right? Good luck and lots and lots of baby dust!

Hi all, so I had my ultrasound this morning and they said everything looks wonderful and the baby is right in line with where he should be for 18 1/2 weeks..and yes, I said *he* because we are having a boy!!!!!

regalada, I never had any back pain so i''m not sure if it''s normal or not. you can always call your dr. though if you''re worried...
Congrats Mrs S! Very exciting.

Great name lili!

As for dreams...I have had only one dream I am having a girl. All other dreams (about 3 or 4) have been that it''s a boy. This baby has been so easy, preggo wise, that I think it''s a boy...

I don''t know if Ttot is going to have his (IF it''s a he!) own crib or not, but I saw this bedding for a boy a while back and thought you might like it (I do, but I hate most crib bedding options out there):

CONGRATS, MRSSALVO on your little man!! You and your dh must be SOOOO excited!!! YAY!!
36.gif
36.gif

Tacori, Tessa is a beautiful baby!!! What a cutie!!!

Diver...dont worry about the infection...remember, there are always transient strains of bacteria present in the vagina (which means they comes and go, there's no rhyme or reason) and just because there was nothing present when they swabbed you for the GBS before you had Delaney doesnt mean you did anything wrong between then and now...When you had your pap and they swabbed the cervix, they probably picked up some extra bacteria on the swab (beyond "normal" levels), and they figured might as well treat it so it does not become problematic for you (causes itching, burning, etc). Dont worry about it, sweets- your fine!!!! (no way, no how does this cause anything REMOTELY dangerous like cervical ca....)....

thanks sevens, if we went for 2 more we''d catch up with you
37.gif
...but alas, that will not be happening as 5 is our cut off #...hehe..how are your kiddo''s doing?

tgal, this pregnancy has been my hardest, morning sickness wise anyway, and it''s a boy, so i''m not sure that really makes a difference. I honestly didn''t really have a gut feeling as to the sex until last night when i just had a little notion that this baby was going to be a boy. i guess I also wanted to prepare myself b/c i would have loved another girl. of course, i was 100% sure lily was a boy until our ultrasound with her and I was inform/shown she was most definitely a girl, so I don''t trust my gut feelings when it comes to the sex of my babies
41.gif

Lili, yeah team pink! I am kind of happy she turned out to be a she. I would be sad if I ended up with all boys since I am a girlie girl. I got some cute girl clothes at Old Navy. Plus both G-moms already bought some pink outfits.

MrsS, I forgot to mention. In our family we are two girls than a boy (though ages are farther apart and I am not counting your stepchildren) My brother is seriously wonderful and I really, really think having two sisters is a big part of that. He is such a gentleman. Don''t worry I am taking all the help I can get!

Diver, hope everything is ok! I''m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Jas, don''t worry about your weight. I gained 45 lbs
23.gif
and I am 5''1"
32.gif
so you are seriously doing fine. I still look like I am
4-5 months preggo. I am not worrying about it for awhile. At least until the stitches dissolve!
2.gif

Tgal, my doc would say "he" sometimes. Obviously doesn''t mean anything. I think it just comes natural.

Tessa has been sleeping ALL day. I think I am in for a long, long night. I seriously can''t wake her. I go to the doc''s tomorrow. Hopefully everything will check out ok. Tessa has her second doc''s appointment on Friday. Can''t wait to see how much she has gained.

thanks tacori, I have a younger brother by 4 years and our sister who is 6 years younger than me and we always played well together and got along for the most part. so i think this little guy will do pretty well and the girls are already helping think up names for their new brother.

good luck at the dr. tomorrow. take your time on the weightloss, it took 9 months to put it on, you have at least that long to get it back off. have fun at tessa''s dr. appt too, i always love going for the well checks, it fun to see how quick they are growing.

Dani, we''re so lucky to have you contribute to this thread
16.gif

MrsS, I am the middle child, my sister is 3.5 years older and my brother 6 years younger. I loved having a little brother. We never would fight and I really think that was b/c he was a boy.

Yay!!! a BOY for MrsS!!! How exciting!
36.gif

Glad you''re doing well, Tacori! I''ll bet your mom cried when she left, too! I''m glad you have your MIL there now to help you!

Girlfriend, where did you find that? I LOVE it! I didn''t even know you had directed it toward me...for some reason I went straight to the bottom and scrolled up and saw it, and thought, hey that''s fun and cute but not TOO cute, ya know what I mean? Then I saw you thought it might work for TTot. So you''re hired as my personal shopper. Hee hee.

MrsS, that''s funny that you don''t trust your gut feelings. I really have no gut anything with TTot. I wonder if your MS does make a difference when it comes to the sex. Either way, it''s a bummer.
40.gif

Tacori, I think you''re right about the "he".

TGal,

I found it here: Kool Roomz (the set comes in red, too)

That site actually has a lot of really cute/interesting/modern stuff. Definitely worth a look!

Thanks!

LOL, it''s called "Scary Fish." Is it me, or do you have to be a bit twisted to like this stuff for a baby?
9.gif

Yeah, I''d guess that a lot of doctors/techs use the generic "he" too when people don''t want to know the gender. Must be hard to keep calling babies "it" after a while, you know?

That bedding is awesome
21.gif
BananaFish makes some really cute, funky stuff too that isn''t super-babyish. I remember liking some of their stuff a lot! Can''t remember who else I liked, I just remember that the funkier it was, the more $$ it was too! Booo.

So we''ve got two car seats installed in my car right now -- yikes!! Wow, does that make it seem real! Actually the bases are in and the seats are sitting in them but aren''t attached properly b/c Momma''s belly is too big (the driver''s seat is too far back for the car seat to fit properly). It''s just downright silly how big my belly is.

Question for Mommies: what diaper cream do you find works best? I''m sure it depends on the baby, but I''d like to have something on hand ahead of time so I''m curious. I''ve got a small sample of Balmex, which I think is supposed to be good, and I''ve also read that you can use that Lanisoh cream (I assume it''s the same stuff for the nips, right?) -- anyone tried that?

Wow--a lot of updates happening all at once on this thread--loving it!

Tacori--I think you are doing awesome--if you can get on PS once in a while to keep us updated you are doing well!!!! Are you ''reacting'' to motherhood the way you anticipated? What has surprised you most so far?
---I am no longer worried about my weight--i think my doc is a little nutty anyway so i take what she says with a grain of salt (lots of salt grains flying around when ppl discuss pregnancy eh?! :-)

Diver--I really hope you get answers and feel better soon--its so sucky to have to deal with an unknown like that on top of coping with a newborn and a toddler.

Tgal--you have had such a good pregnancy thus far I wouldn''t stress too much about the oz trip--you know the long-flight deal, keep yourself hydrated, move around a lot, wash your hands to ward off the millions of germs on a plane etc. etc.
Obviously you''re a vetern traveller and will probably breeze through it knowing you get beaches, timtams and fresh seafood at the end of the voyage.
What freaks me out about my next trip (which will be to Spain/France/ Morroco when baby is 6 months) is keeping a child entertained on my lap for 8 hours! Oh boy.

I emailed a Dr. who is known to be the Canadian breastfeeding guru (to ask about the eczema/creams etc.) He gave me some good advice and said there should be no reason why I can''t breastfeed even if I absolutely must use the steroid ointments--that''s good news. His website seems to have great resources--including a visual DVD guide to BF for new moms (I am a visual learner so I don''t think books will cut it for me).

If anyone is interested you can go to: Dr. Newman

WOW! I feel so *late* to post because this is such an active thread!
3.gif

Congrats Tacori on your GORGEOUS little girl! Tessa has beautiful eyes. A few days old and already quite the looker!!

MrsS - YEY! Great news and so happy that it's a boy ')
11.gif
(snakes and snails and puppy dog tails)

lili - Also SO happy for you for the opposite reason! A GIRL!!
36.gif
(sugar and spice and everything nice)

Jas - I'm happy you've made some way in locating some of the things you were looking for (in Canada). You will be my Canadian Guru when I am officially part of this thread (maybe next year). I should really subscribe to you and start taking notes! haha. Glad to hear you're progress! Good luck with the exzema.

ellaila, you must be getting soooo excited!!! The carseat installation makes it so real! For diaper cream, we use strictly old school VASELINE!!! It works wonders. We haven''t had any issues with diaper rash and Lily has a very soft bottom!!! My MIL turned us on to it in the beginning because she said that is all she ever used on DH and our pediatrician agreed that it''s one of the best things to use. Our ped. is very down to earth and doesn''t believe in buying into the whole baby marketing machine--it''s like the wedding industry! So we stick with the tried and true basics although I''m sure everyone will have an opinion on what has worked for them. This is just my experience.

Curly: you reminded me I need to buy some vaseline. MY grandma swore by it for cuticles. My hands are so chapped, & my bff has it in a tube you can squeeze now! cool! My other friend gets these tin things of it (kind of like a small round altoids tin) that she can only find in England (she did an exchange there in college) and she still has a friend there send her a supply once a year. LOL. She says its the best lipbalm. Haven''t thought of it for diaper cream. Do you just use it every day? I also have Desitin...it takes a red bottom to clear in no time...but I would think the Vaseline would provide a nice barrier for bottom. I''ll have to try it.

Dani: Thanks honey..you made me feel lots better (again! you were so right about my delivery...piece of cake...what fibroid??? LOL) I was just freaking out after reading the warnings on the vandazole (sp?) gel prescription. Also, I can''t drink on it either. ummmm, my MIL gets here on Saturday...LOL..if I ever needed wine
2.gif
. Oh well.... How is newly wedded life treating you?

Well we are a sexy bunch....I''ve got a rogue infection, Tacori has labor hemi''s & fungi nips, Jas has itchy nips, and I think Tgal is gassy. LOL...ooooh pregnancy & its aftermath....glamorous! LOL

Lili: Congrats on the good results! yay!!!

My house was clean on Sunday. How did it get destroyed in one day??????

Yep, Dani is the best! I can't believe that after dealing with preggos all day at work, she still wants to talk to us here, but for some reason she does -- lucky us!!
21.gif

Oh, add me to the sexy list please! I'm all about the granny panties now, I'm a gas bomb every single night, apparently I snore now (am all stuffed up at night), I'm greased up from head to toe with lotions and ointments (well, belly b/c that's as far as I can reach), and I haven't shaved my legs in days. Yeah!! Oh and the majority of my vocabulary right now is "OW!" The phrase "sexy mama" has never seemed so ludicrous to me as it does right now!

Bless my husband for still telling me he finds me attractive -- oh, I got a good one!
30.gif

Oh, and thanks for the info on Vaseline, Curly! Vaseline really is good for everything, isn't it?? I guess all diaper creams really do is prevent a barrier so that the skin stays dry, so I think Vaseline would work as good as anything else (and is def. a lot cheaper!).

Diver, pregnancy ain''t always pretty huh? Luckily my hemis are SOOO much better but in the hospital...ewww.....I couldn''t even sit.

Ella, I forgot to add, DH has blue eyes, I have brown (I just remember you asked).
RE: recovery, I just have the mind set you do what you have to do. There is nothing I could/can do to change my complications so I try just to accept it, get through it, and move on. She IS worth it in the end. All the stretch marks, hemis, weight gain, stitches....she is the reason that none of those things don''t matter. I know you will be strong with your twins. I know you must be disappointed to have a c-sec but it sounds like that is the best for your and the twins'' health. They will be in your arms SOOO soon!

I can''t believe Tessa wasn''t up all night! Maybe she is growing b/c that girl sleep almost all day and night (when she wasn''t eating or pooping). So far I feel so lucky!!!

Thanks Mrssalvo, Diver, and Ellaila!!! Of course I still want to talk/share your experiences with you, and offer any help that I can possible give! Yes, I do deal with preggos all day, but its what I enjoy, so I never (really!) get tired of it!!!

The job of all newborns is to eat, poop and sleep. So it sounds like Tessa is doing great. Their other "job" descriptions include looking adorable and making mom and dad think their grunts and farts are funny.

I just thought for sure we would be in for a long night. MIL and I tried to keep her up but it was fruitless. She really didn''t fuss too much during the night.

Dani, if I ever went into the medical field I think L&D would be so rewarding. Though I DO think it takes a special person. Our nurse was so awesome. She didn''t even take her break until after Tessa was born. I don''t remember her leaving my side once.

lili, thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately, I don't have any good news to share yet. I didn't get a BFP for my birthday present as I had hoped for. Hopefully this will be the month! Thanks for the baby dust!

Hi Tacori!
35.gif

I just had a chance to catch up on this thread....I am VERY sorry about your experience after Tessa was born...BUMMER! I''m figuring that you had some urinary retention issues after delivering (which is pretty common) and probably got a bad UTI b/c of it....I hope you are feeling better now and that little Tessa is behaving herself!!! So happy for you!!!

L&D is very rewarding...although, sometimes you do have your days where you feel that no one really cares/appreciates a good nurse (not the patients, really, its more dealing with the MD''s). The bottom line is that its a really hard job -and, L&D specifically is EXTREMELY high stress- so if you are not physically/mentally/emotionally strong, you just wont be able to hack it!!! I think many of us also have other frustrations, including lack of $$$ for really hard work....That''s why I finished my masters (I am also a nurse practitioner) and although I will miss L&D, I think I will be moving on to a new job by the springtime....Although, I probably will stay at the hospital per-diem and work 1 or 2 shifts a month just to keep my clinical skills sharp.....

All in all, though, I do love my job and feel like it was meant to be for me to be a nurse....I know every day I go to work I touch my patient''s lives in (hopefully!) a positive way...its such an awesome feeling!!!!!
