Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Noel, congratulations :appl: skye is beautiful  and thanks for your honest birth story, i hope you recover quickly =)

yay, had a minor bowel movement yesterday evening with no pushing required. the problem I have with the water bottle for peeing as that filling it and putting my hands in warm water already start me peeing! might have to do with the catheter I had due to the epidural. luckily I've got those brick pads in. my urine actually doesn't sting me so I use the bottle for washing, as it was said that tp is too harsh.

by the way, they did numb my "area" before the stitching. yes, seems very mean that they wouldn't.

random - I had the same but by the time I wanted to get started with therapy, the whole breast cancer thing came to light so I had to put it on the back burner. yes, please go to therapy. I am really suffering now with the pelvic joint pain - turning in bed is hell. believe me, you will have enough other aches (soreness down there, stitches, constipation & tight boobs) to deal with after labor.

Noel, I filled the water bottle up after using the bathroom so it was ready when I needed it the next time. The coolness also felt good, if a little startling ;))

noel -- yay for easy bowel movements!!! Glad you are at least comfortable there! And your little girl is PRECIOUS! I love the new pic of her on the newborn thread!

Wonder how Laila is doing? I'm guessing she was admitted and might be holding her little baby right now!

AFM, so if you were following my name saga, I really liked Hudson, and pretty much liked Anderson. DH vetoed Hudson, saying it sounded like a little boy name. (?) So we had settled on Anderson, and all was good. Well, we are walking through Target last night and he says "You know, I've been rethinking Hudson and I think I like it more than Anderson now." Now I don't know what to do! I had broken up with the idea of having Hudson and had started calling my little baby in my body Anderson, but I LOVED Hudson. So I need some opinions...what do you ladies think? They both flow very well with the middle name we picked out (Timothy) and our last name. Initials aren't a problem or anything like that. My only concern is that people would call him "Hud" which I HATE. I have 9 days to decide, if not sooner!!!

Noel- Congrats! Skye is adorable!!

Laila- good luck, I'm so excited for you!

Laney- I actually like both of your names, so I don't know how much help I will be. If you loved Hudson, then I would say go with that. Have you tried writing them both down? People have told me when I like a name to write it out and see how it looks, etc. And I loved your most recent pic- you look fabulous!

I missed BPF but here's a pic from earlier in the week- taken at 24w3d (today is 25 weeks!!)

I'm so sorry you had to deal with this on top of everything else noel! This may be tmi, but I woke up today and whole right side is in pain including my butt lol I should have slept on the left like they suggested, meh!

Tiff you are glowing!

Lanie I like Hudson. There is a little boy with that name in my daycare and everyone calls him Hudson. As far as nicknames, who the heck knows what they will call him. But if YOU call him Hudson they will call him that. Anderson is MUCH more likely to become Andy since it is three syllables. Husdon only 2. We also do not want anyone calling Hunter "Hunt" and so far, no one has. I think when he is older it will be sone sort of last name nickname, like his dad always got.

I'm just putting my vote in for the name Hudson...I love it....but I'm biased

Lanie - why not wait until he is born and in your arms, and then I think you'll know which name he is meant to be.

Noel- Congrats on Skye, she's beautiful and I love the name!

Lanie- Go with both names to the delivery room. You can be leaning one way or another but have them both in your pocket. AFM, I like them both but Anderson is more of a mouthful. Also nicknames are hard to control when they are older.

Tiffany- you look great! Almost to the third tri.

RT - try the full body elasticated bandage (under boobs to mid-thigh) - you will feel like a caterpillar but it works really well - you need it to be really tight though. You can sleep in them as well. They also support the bump! I also had accupuncture several times which can work really well on muscular-skeletal pain.

I hate to say it but your doctor is right in that it will get worse as the pregnancy goes on and you get larger. I had one friend who spent the last 4 months of her pregnancy on crutches as it was the only way she could move at all.

I had such bad oedema that I also had elasticated thigh-high stockings on each leg and without my clothes on I looked like a very fat Eygptian Mummy (I put on over 70lbs which was half my body-weight again... but not a single stretch mark!)

ETA: How many weeks are you? I think you are about the same as my SIL - she's got her NT scan next week, have you had yours?

This! Lanie we went through something similar. We both loved Sophia but had a ton of reasons not to use the name (main one being that her cousin who lives in Chile is also Sophia). So we came up with other names and waited until she was born to pick a name that we knew she had to have.

Tiff-you look beautiful!!!

Good luck Laila. I'm sure you're holding LO by now. I also vote girl.

RT~ yes. It sucks and gets worse. There's no sugar coating it. It's excruciating at times. Warm baths ease it a bit, but for me, sitting in the tub was too uncomfortable for more than a few minutes.Sometimes I couldn't even get my leg up over the side of the tub to get in. I kept my knees together as much as possible when standing up or getting our of bed and it would ease that movement. I moved as much as possible. It hurt to keep moving, but if I sat or laid for too long the pain was worse. As I recall, it got better like a week before Lily was born. It was still hurting but I think the pressure of the babe so low forced the bones into a better position. Within a few days of Lily's birth I was 80% better. Within a month it was gone completely. Exercising may have helped it but I was supposed to take it easy because of Lily's heart. Talk to your dr to see if there's any stretches or exercises that could reduce the pain. Good Luck! And, sorry you have to deal with this.

Thanks everyone! I can say I'm not looking forward to it getting worse but I have a feeling by the time 9 months comes, I won't be dreading labor anymore, I'll probably be looking forward to it! lol!

I'm 16 weeks today, I had my NT scan about a month ago :) It was so fun, my mom was visiting my sister here at the time so she was able to come along as well! I have my anatomy scan sometime in the beginning of january :)

noelwr Skye is beautiful - your pic made me tear up after the bad stuff that has been happening it just makes me so happy to see a pic of your little one - she is just perfect look at those cheeks

Congrats :)

Laila Congrats - sending your labour recovery dust as I am sure by the time I post this you will be holding your LO :)

Pandora and Princess Thanks for clarifying the beta's :)

RT Sorry to hear about the pain - I hope you can get some relief

Tiffany You look beautiful - such a cute bump :)

Lanie I like both I ditto the suggestion of seeing your bub and then deciding both are really nice strong sounds male names :)

_______________________________________________________________

Nothing much to report here - I saw one of my friends who had her bubba last week and I got to hold her  - OMG I seriously forgot how small newborns are like teeny scary thought this will be me in about 9-12wks :o OMG I was just mesmerized by her fingers and feet

Found out FIL has shingles - and we saw him just before they came out - the good thing is from what I have googled is you can't catch shingles if you have had chicken pox - I never had chicken pox but apparently I have immunity I got the tests done twice but I will call the ob just in case on Monday

More preg clothes will arrive next week - thank god I am running out of clothes I feel like I have exploded - pre mat clothes are not fitting at all apart from some of my maxi dresses and t-shirts

counting down till my holidays ahhhhh just under 2wks left then when I get back only one month of work left WHOOOT :)

Deelight, you only get shingles if you have had chicken-pox. One of the reasons we vaccinated Daisy was in case she gets chicken pox and that gives DH shingles as he is immunocompromised and would likely get it very badly. If you have shingles you can't pass shingles to another person, but you do pass chicken-pox to people who haven't had it.

So, if you have been in contact with a person with shingles and you haven't had chicken-pox then you would be at risk of catching chicken-pox. It is highly contagious but you would need to have had direct contact - ie actually touched the person not just been in the same room.

Pandora Thanks for chiming in :) From what I read you can't get the shingles from another person but yup like you said you can get chicken pox if you haven't had it - we stayed at their house a day or so before he broke out - he didn't have anything yet but I did touch him when I hugged him before we left - the rash didn't break out until a couple of days later.

The reason I say I have never had chicken pox is because I literally never got it however when I went to go get the vaccine when it come out I was tested and told it was pointless as some point in my life I must have got it - surprised me. I do remember by neighborhood friends getting it and I didn't so maybe I got a very mild form - who knows, but I wasn't allowed to play with them because I had never had the virus. I also got my immunity re-tested when I feel pregnant and same thing I must have had it at some point.

I think my dad got shingles a few years ago and I was fine

I am not worried but DH is now a little worried (he has had the chicken pox and can't catch the shingles) about what vaccines he should get so I don't get sick and is planning on heading to the doctor this week to ask.

Tiffany--you look fantastic!!! I love seeing what you girls look like in real life!

Tiffany! You look GO'JUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a cute little bump - and you are glowing, too!

Mara - thank you!!!! I am LOVING all of this very helpful advice about the hard truths of what it feels like after giving birth. I will check to see if the hospital gives us those awesome spray bottles. And if not, I'll ask DH or my mom to run out for one! Whew! You and Pandora always have the best and most helpful advice on these things! So glad you two never hold back and tell it like it is. At least I'll be mentally prepared, eh? :naughty:

Turtledazzle - DERMOPLAST! I will make sure I have this, too! THANK YOU!
