LC - haha, I had the thought that if I didn't check in you'd assume that Dot had arrived! Nope... no action at the station! Your last shower sounds like the best - and lots of fun! Glad you picked up lots of stuff that you wanted from the registry. You sound pretty prepared! Who knows... at this rate you might have Ethan before Dot makes an appearance!
Sugarpie - welcome, congratulations! I have found pregnancy to be similarly "glamorous" to you - lank, oily hair, uneven oily skin, ugh ugh ugh.
S&I - surely your results would be through by now, I reckon give them a call yourself! I hope it's good news. I'm not sure about the turnaround on my pendant - I figured that it's the Valentine's Day rush now so it might be a couple of weeks, and by then I'll be busy with Dot (on the outside!!!) so it didn't fuss me too much how long it takes. Which again is unheard of. I am the world's most impatient person when it comes to bling! Pregnancy hormones
NEL - is the trouble walking from pelvic pain, or your back, or just weird distribution of weight? I am moving fine during the day but get quite a bit of pelvic symphysis pain at night which makes it painful to roll over or get up.
Mayerling, I still can't get over my bling-forgetfulness myself Your flutters will come! It's really exciting when they do. It does vary a lot from person to person and I know that in a first pregnancy they're often noticed later than subsequent pregnancies - and it also depends on where the placenta is. You will have plenty of time to feel flutters... and nudges... and pushes... and shoves... and frank "hip and shoulders", as the Australian football term goes! You look great!
PPM, I'm a bit late to the party but I would have no problem buying an ex-display carseat. That said, many people here in Australia - myself included - hire a baby capsule, so maybe that's the difference. The main thing is making sure that it's still under warranty and hasn't ever been in an accident (which, if it's only been on display, shouldn't be an issue).
So, AFM... still here, still pregnant! 39 weeks and 1 day today. Ho hum. Things feel more or less exactly the same as a week ago apart from the night-time discomfort around my pelvis. Other than that, I'm still well! Have been up on a stepladder painting the window frame in Dot's room the last few days, and now that it's finished I figure it's probably time to bow out of doing things that involve ladders We made the dresser/change table the other night, and husb is getting started on the cot bed today. We won't need the cot for a good 4-5 months at least (it's a big todder bed - 140cm x 70cm) but my rationale is that a) it will be done and we won't have to assemble it later, and b) it is the last of the big flatpacks still standing up in a corner of the house. I bought some big foam tiles (you know, the square coloured ones that tessellate together to form a playmat) for the living room floor, and a small sheepskin as well as some of that non-slip rubber matting stuff to keep rugs from slipping and the change mat from slipping on the dresser.
Bags are packed and zipped up, ready to go! Bottles (all 2 of them!), teats and dummies are sterilised. My mother gave me a box of about 100 terry and flannelette flat diapers which were mine and my siblings (!), of which I've washed about 30 to use as liners, burp cloths, spare nappies etc. Once the cot is made we'll just vacuum and mop the nursery floor, and then I will move all the baby stuff into the cupboards (hooray for reclaiming the linen cupboard/our dresser space!). Sling and Baby Bjorn are washed and dried. Pram bassinet has sheets in it. Etc etc.
Put our order for cable TV through today. Installation is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
And now... we wait. Next appointment is on Thursday morning.
Here are a couple of bump pics from yesterday - 39 weeks exactly.
