There's not really much leeway on the dress code when I'm 'in public', but 'behind the scenes' it's OK to open the jacket button. Thankfully for me the way my dates work out the dress code actually won't apply for my last two months, so that cuts me some slack 
Mayerling that toenail cutting operation sounded scary!
amc sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well. Are you putting the Snoogle in between your knees? I found recently when I had some surgery that rendered me completely immobile in bed at night, that if I kept a pillow between my knees, but with the top leg a bit in front of the back leg, that I was able to get a few hours sleep before getting too uncomfortable. Something about being tipped slightly forward rather than being 'upright' on my side made it much more bearable. I hope you get some relief soon! The baby movements sound wonderful, I am so looking forward to that Re feeling your bump, if I push down on my abdomen, sliding down from my belly button, I can feel my uterus too. My fingers can push way in for about two inches and then, thud, I hit off a hard something that feels like an orange lodged in there. So cool! The pilates class sounds great, although not sure how I'd feel doing that stretching exercise in a group setting! I've heard of doing it in private using your thumbs but that method is a new one to me. Heck, if it works it's worth trying! You look great in your photo!
PilsnPinkysMom sorry to hear about the cardiologist referral, I hope it all comes back OK and you get to stay in your low-risk birth centre. I chose a similar model of care for myself so I understand completely about feeling stressed about potentially being transferred out to a more medicalised model. I hope you get good news and that all is well.
Megumic yes if I could get even one button to close that would pass muster. I will definitely try out some larger size jackets in some of the cheaper stores and see if I can get something that will work. As it is I generally wear dresses under my jackets anyway, and I have a few stretchy ones that should see me out a few more months (I hope!). Thanks for the tip! I haven't done any purchasing yet but I may have time to pop into Primark today and see if there's anything good in there. You look fantastic in your bump shot, and great that you had a good check up. Don't worry about the Lucozade, it isn't that bad, it just tastes like red lemonade. It is extremely fizzy though so don't guzzle it too quickly!

AFM, yesterday was a complete wash-out thanks to a vicious migraine. I spent the day pinned to the bed willing myself not to throw up, and I couldn't see out of my right eye for most of the day. I tried fluids, eating small bites every hour, massaging my temples, an ice pack on my forehead... but nothing eased it. In the end I had to take paracetamol (acetaminophen). On the plus side the viral infection appears to be mostly gone, I am still coughing a teeny little bit at night but have no more sinus/throat pain. Yay!
Today, thank God, no migraine, just the usual dull headache so I am actually managing to get some work done Also I am really looking forward to meeting up with my girlfriends tonight. I managed to score a free make up lesson at a Benefit counter for two people so I am treating one of them for her birthday, and then we are heading to the other girl's home for tea and biscuits. I haven't seen them in a few weeks so it will be great to catch up.

Today is my anatomy scan...yay! SO excited to see the baby, make sure he's healthy, and make sure he's still a he!
On the downside, I weighed myself this morning...I've gained about 10lbs since my last appt, 5 weeks ago. Yikes. I know 4 of those 10 were in the one week after my 15 week appt (that week I was SO freaking hungry, eating non stop). I'm preparing for a lecture from the doc. I think I'm up about 16lbs over all. Ugh.

bobbin, fingers crossed that your little girl waits until at least next Thursday! Sorry about all your pre-labor symptoms, but it sounds like we're both getting close. I need to ask my OB today if she can tell how low my bubs is because it really feels like he's putting a lot of pressure down there. I've also heard nightgowns are better than PJs even if you don't have a c-section, since it's easier access to check down there. I'll probably just use the gowns they provide at the hospital and bring a small robe to cover up my backside when visitors come. I'm still working since my original plan was to just work until the day before my induction date, but I'm starting to think I might need to work from home the last week, especially if my back and pelvic pain get worse.
monnie, I also read through this thread from the beginning, but I think I stopped around page 500 or so. There's so much helpful info here! Awesome dress for your baby shower, and great gifts for your hostesses! I wasn't as creative as you, so my hostesses only got gift cards.
steph, glad your girls' trip to NYC was fun. I hope your Rhogam shot wasn't too bad. Yay for picking out your crib, and for your friend hooking you up with her snoogle! I've been debating internally about whether to get one since I'm already so close to the end. The small bean-shaped one I have from Boppy just isn't cutting it anymore, but I'd hate to spend money on a snoogle for only 2 weeks...unless it'll prove to be useful post-partum too.
mayerling, your bump is coming along nicely! Good luck with the lucozade. I have no idea what that is, but I hope it's not too bad.
amc, your bump is still so tiny! I had a similar discovery a while back while pressing on my tummy - isn't it so weird? I was thinking about why my bump was already so high early on, and then realized that it was probably because my uterus was pushing my other organs up higher to make room. Glad you like the prenatal pilates class! Have fun at your anatomy scan! Don't worry about the weight gain. Everyone gains differently, and I'm sure you'll lose it all once the baby is out. I thought I was gaining ahead of schedule during the first/second trimesters too (5 pounds by 12 weeks, then 1 pound every week), but then I slowed down once I hit the third trimester, and even lost a couple of pounds a few weeks ago. I think I was up 16 pounds at my last appointment, but I feel like I might have gained a big amount again this week, so I'll find out this afternoon.
Missy, great bump pics! My belly button is still an innie too, but mine started out pretty deep so I don't think it'll ever be an outie.
Kunzite, what a precious bump pic with little O! So sorry you've been so exhausted lately, but you're growing TWO whole humans, so you have an excuse! I hope your reduced work schedule will help. Definitely ask your doc to put you on bed-rest even if you think it's still a tad early. I'm thinking of asking my OB for a note for work just in case I get worse in the next 2 weeks. Yay for seeing the babies kick at the same time!

AFM, I have my 37-week appointment this afternoon. My OB said she could check my dilation/progress today if I'm curious, so I'll probably ask her to do it, even though she said it's probably still early. I also want to ask her if there's any way (maybe Bishop's score?) for her to tell beforehand what my chances are for a vaginal versus c-section delivery. I don't have anything against a c-section - I just would like some fair warning ahead of time to mentally prepare if needed.

PPM- I just wanted to chime in on the heart arrhythmia. I haven't been posting here at all, but I did see that they are referring you to a cardio, which can be very important. Did they notice any issues with the heart chambers at your anatomy scan? Aubrey didn't have any noticable heart issues during her anatomy scan, but then had a significant murmur at birth. Most of the time, murmurs are innocent, but its really important to get it checked out. 1 in 100 babies have a heart defect, and the majority of those are considered "innocent" so don't let the referral scare you! And, it is MUCH easier if they discover any congenital heart issues prior to birth.
I know you probably can find me on fbook if you have ay questions at all! My little Aubrey is a heart baby and perfect! I know just thinking there culd be something wrong with the baby's heart is incredibly scary, but there are miraculous outcomes with hearts, and try not to worry.

It's still a boy! Everything looked great. Every single one of the measurements measured a week ahead. I know when he was conceived, so I'm sure about the due date...but the doctor is probably going to move me up a week. She didn't mention my weight gain which is great. Maybe because I'm growing a giant?

Bobbin you reminded me of one of my strongest childhood memories - drinking scalding hot flat Lucozade or 7Up whenever I was sick!!! I'd say your DH has drunk the Lucozade Isotonic specialist sports drinks, they have extra electrolytes in them and aren't so fizzy as the normal (neon orange) Lucozade.

AFM I had such a wonderful evening yesterday. The Benefit counter masterclass was great fun, and they pulled my friend out and used her as the class model and spoiled her rotten which was brilliant. I got some new make up myself which made me feel like I'm returning to humanity a little bit!
We had a mouth watering dinner and a great natter and it was just lovely. My friends reckon I have a little bump and they were ogling 'the girls' and teasing me about them - hmmm, I guess those have grown more than I thought?!? 
No migraine today, still the dull headache but I can deal with that. I really hope I've turned a corner!!!

Amc, glad all went well. What is with these babies growing fast!? Too funny.
In other news, I woke up with a giant leg cramp in the middle of the night. Worst pain ever. Ugh. And it is still lingering this morning.
Any suggestions on how to fend these off? I've heard calcium, but it seems not scientifically proven. (Plus I get plenty already). I drink plenty of water so that's not it...but I'd do anything to keep that from happening again!

It’s amazing the generosity that comes out when there is a new bundle of joy. I hope you enjoy your girls’ weekend. Please post pics of the nursery when you’re finished!
Mayerling- Cute bump pic! How awful that you have to buy your own gross drink! They should give you more options since you have to buy it yourself.
Amc- your pilates class sounds wonderful, although the tiny dodgeball placement sounds awkward. Haha. Glad your little boy is still a boy! I’m so terrified my girl is going to change into a boy!
Missy- Love your bump pic! I find it so fascinating how different clothes make the shape so different!
Kunzite- Love the bump pic with your sweet LO’s big brother! So precious. I can’t believe you are measuring 34 weeks! Is it 34 weeks for a singleton? Does measuring ahead make a difference as to when you will go into labor, or is it just a measurement?
Buttons- The migraine sounds miserable! I’m glad the meds provided some relief. I hope it’s gone completely soon.
S&I- I understand wanting a warning if a c-section could be on the horizon. Look forward to hearing how the appointment went.

AFM- My worry wart self went to the maternity urgent care again today. Last week I mentioned to DH that I thought baby was turning or something with the amount of huge movements she was making, however, I didn’t *really* think she was turning. Anyways, this week it felt like her movements were really slowed down. I wasn’t feeling the big rolls at night/in the morning, like usual, so I had DH call and they suggested I come in if I was concerned… so I did. It looks like she is now transverse (vs head down like before). I was able to see her little heart fluttering away and we could see movement on the monitor, but I couldn’t feel it at all. I really miss her big rolls and kicks, but I’m glad she appears to be doing ok. I felt silly going in, but it did provide tremendous relief going there. So, to anyone else who has concerns, don’t hesitate to call!
Also, today the person who did the ultrasound told one of the midwives that she could see “him moving.” Of course my ears perked up when she said “him” because my baby is supposed to be a girl! However, it wasn’t until I left that I realized “bébé” is a masculine word in French, so it would make sense for her to say that. Either way, I intend to have my normal OB check the gender tomorrow at my appointment!

Meg, I had leg cramps. My instinct would be to pull my toes toward my leg but that would make it worse and sometimes it would *lock up* like that. If you get the cramp (mine was in my calf), point your toes. And stay hydrated. I drank 100 ounces of water per day and that helped. Of course I had to pee about 1,676,819 times!

AMC - Glad to hear that he's still a he!! I was also measuring a week ahead on all measurements. According to them I'm due June 10th, I know when we conceived and according to that I'm due June 6th. But they didn't adjust my due date. Oh well, what's a couple of days!

Just checking in to see what you are all up to, and I just wanted to say that you are all looking amazing! Love the bumps. I'm just getting to the phase where my stomach is no longer flat, and I feel like I need to keep smoothing out my shirts to hide the emerging bulge/bloat. But you all make pregnancy look good!
Missy, the nursery is just darling so far. The colors are so cheerful and calming. Very cute!

I was on mobile last night, so thought I would post more today...The anatomy scan was so super cool. Everything looked great. I was a little nervous at the end because she went back to look at the heart again, but I think she just couldn’t get everything the first look. So everything they measured (head, waist, arms, and legs) all measured about 21w2 days (and I was 20w2 days). The u/s tech said the most likely thing is my original dd was off. I told her that was unlikely since 1) I know when I ovulated (which really places my dd 2 days later than the LMP estimate), 2) we didn’t even do it a week before, when we would have had to to be a week ahead, 3) at my 7 week u/s he was measuring at 6w5d (which is what I thought he would be based on my calculations based on ovulation) and, 4) at my NT scan he was just slightly ahead, with an estimated dd of 8/12 (original OB dd was 8/14 based on LMP, and based on my calcs it would be 8/16). Her response was “well you can never be sure when you ovulate…unless you had IVF.” Ummmm….
So my OB was going to look at the NT Scan report (which for some reason she didn’t have, it’s done at a different doctor) and look at what their due date was, and then make a decision on moving my dd. I am hoping that she is logical and will say “well, baby was right on time in the beginning, then a couple days ahead at 13 weeks, and now a week ahead, so he’s probably just big.”
What I don't want to happen is have them move my dd to 8/7, then 8/14 comes around and they induce me, when really that's when he should be coming in the first place.

I'd like them to move my due date up because I don't want them to wait two weeks to induce (which is what happens in the UK) and actually have it be 3 weeks over the due date. Of course, there's a chance that mine is just big too, but given how the cycle I conceived in was messed up since I'd just come off birth control and I didn't really know when I ovulated, it's just as likely that my due date should be earlier.

Amc I agree with you. I too would rather have more time on the tail-end. But even if they move your due date and you don't go into labor, you can refuse the induction or try other methods of induction that are non-medical. I mean, a baby one week overdue doesnt necessarily need to be induced. But it can depend on how you're feeling, baby size, any complications, etc. I wouldn't worry too much, but I would be sure to make an informed decision if it did come to an induction, as it is not risk-free.

AMC- At my 19 week anatomy scan, bubs was measuring 1 week ahead too. My OB said that it didn't really mean anything as babies are often different sizes at that point, and it could just mean you have a big/long baby! In fact, when I mentioned to him that the tech said bubs was measuring ahead, he said "Well I'm not surprised, look at you two!" Meaning, both DH and I are really tall, and not exactly petite framed in anyway! My due date was not changed. Different OB's may have different policies about that though.

So maybe that is your physician's policy, but I don't think it could be a hospital policy for that reason. I'd ask my OB just so you know who has what policy. And a lot of times policies aren't really policies, but more just in practice or preferred. I've found the question "why" is useful when there is no real policy in place.

amc- what a cute pic! The profile pics are definitely my favorite.
AFM- 27 week appointment yesterday. Baby is looking great. I was told Friday by the lady who did my ultrasound that the baby was transverse, however, at Saturday's appointment baby was in the same spot she has been in the whole time (head down, feet up), so I'm more than happy with that! We got little tiny peeks of her face. Somehow she is always hidden when he switches to 3D. Her little nose and lips are so cute though!
Also- One of DH's good friends wants to throw me a baby shower! I saw a sign at the baby store yesterday for baby shower companies, so maybe they are trying to become more popular here? I'm so excited and even if it doesn't come to fruition I am just so happy at her thoughtfulness. The games and decorating sound like fun to me! Would it be ok with only like 10-12 people though? DH wants me to make a list of people, but I don't know too many people here! I have a close group of English speaking friends (listed above) and then there are tons of DH's friends (mine too, but his first). I don't want anyone feeling obligated to buy us gifts, so I think less people, but at the same time I don't want to offend anyone, as everyone has been so wonderful welcoming me. Thoughts?

Fly-by: Thanks for check-ins regarding the cardiologist referral. I'm in my home state for my baby shower, which was Saturday (yesterday). My grandma passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, and though my parents left to be with her in her final moments, my mom would NOT let me call off the shower... So my sister, bless her, stayed with me and our guests and just moved things along. It was sad and awkward but I think it gave my mom something happy/positive to focus on. As "regular" guests left, my parents returned and family members from my mom's side filed in to eat, talk, and just be together. It has been an odd, exhausting 24 hours. I was able to spend some time with my grandma on Friday night, and have great memories of her being in a happy, chipper, talkative mood. She kept going on and on about this little gift she picked up for our baby girl, and my cousin brought it to my yesterday. It's a little pink kitty stuffed animal. My mom also picked up the blanket my grandma was crocheting for the baby and is going to finish it. I have a hard time looking at these items without crying, but it's nice to have a small piece of my grandma to pass on to my daughter. I already miss her so, so much, but she was 91 and lived a really terrific, long, healthy life.

My shower was today and it was amazing!!!!! I woke up to stormy, chilly weather, but as the morning progressed it became sunny and beautiful. When I arrived at the hostess' home, I was greeted by beautiful live harp music, and many of my wonderful friends AND my mother were there waiting for me. I felt SO LOVED and so celebrated, it was an absolutely awesome moment and one I will never, ever forget. I was so choked up with emotion, I am starting to tear up again just thinking about it. The harpist stayed for about an hour and a half while we all got settled in, mingled, had a champagne toast, and ate some lovely catered Thai food. Then I opened my gifts, beginning with my husband's which he had delivered this morning. He made our little girl her very first abacus-- it is beautiful and he is soooo proud of it. That prompted the second batch of tears, I was so touched. After that of course I opened everyone else's fabulous gifts, and the guests were few enough that each one came and sat next to me and had her picture taken with me while I opened her gift. I got to hug and thank everyone as I was opening and it was just so nice. The hostess is a legit couturier and made the most beautiful little dress for the baby, again so touching and lovely--it will be one of those keepsakes she'll have forever.
My mother brought along several photos of me when I was a baby, and some of my baby clothes, to pass around. She also re-framed a print by Jesse Wilcox Smith that hung in my room when I was a child, and I'm 99% sure she has a baby quilt in the works as she has been an avid quilter for years and years. Love my mama!
I received lots of wonderful and useful baby things and some guests were even so kind as to gift me with lotions, chocolates, socks, a couple of nursing-friendly dresses, etc. It was just fantastic--I am still on cloud 9 over the whole thing! I didn't get any pics with my camera, but I will try to post a few as I receive them from friends soon. I did remember to get some bump pics on my phone, though, so here is ~32 weeks. My bump is definitely bigger now...the bold pattern doesn't make me look any smaller, for sure!

megumic the leg cramp sounds horrible! I've never had that but my DH has. He does the same thing as puppmom, says it's the last thing you feel like doing but that it really works. Re calcium for cramps/restless legs - I met a scientist once who worked for a large pharma firm and he was developing a drug to help with leg cramps and restless leg syndrome. He said that a glass of milk worked just as well as the drug, but that lots of people want the reassurance of a pill and as obviously the company wasn't going to make money off of milk they may as well develop the pill! I've had restless legs at night since getting pregnant and have been doing the glass of milk thing. It seems to help but it could well be the placebo effect, specially after that conversation!

AFM feeling better every day thank God.
I am definitely filling out around the middle. My mother commented on it yesterday, so it is becoming noticeable. I put on a pair of maternity jeans at the weekend and was in heaven - I reckon there is no going back now! They are over the bump ones with an adjustable elastic at the back so the fit is excellent. I got some cheap dressy jeans and jeggings over the weekend but those are both under the bump ones and I don't fill them out yet so they won't stay up.
Only other news here is that DH is being head hunted for his dream job. It's absolutely perfect for him, both on a professional level and a personal one, and it would come with all sorts of perks including a great pay rise. For me, though, it would mean having to start over in a career I have only just managed to get going (I did five years of working unpaid to get to this point - I would probably have to go back and do two years unpaid in order to get set up in the new place), and a move away from my friends and my parents. At the moment we are within an hour of my parents, and I love being so close. I have been really looking forward to having my mother so near when the baby comes. The new job is three hours away from my parents, and two hours away from my friends. And did I mention we have an offer in on a lovely house where we are now? This is such a privileged dilemma to be in, but it is so hard to decide what to do. I think we're probably going to end up moving as it's such an amazing opportunity for DH, and I would manage, but I am struggling with it right now.
