Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Welcome Back, TGal -- we missed you! Hey, can you go back to Oz and get me that double Bob stroller? Please. Pretty please. Pretty pretty pretty please. Thanks, mate! And I hear you on not wanting a shower, but like Tacori says, you will definitely be glad that you had one. I hate things like that too (didn''t have a bach party or bridal shower), but baby showers are sort of necessary, in my opinion. Plus since you hate shopping, you''ll really appreciate having other people get all that stuff for you!

Jas, I''m sure you look adorable even though you don''t feel it right now. Take lots of photos now because once you have the baby, it''s so weird to look back at photos of yourself pregnant and then look down at your baby and be like "Really?! You? In me?!" I think the weirdest thing for me right now is that pregnancy feels like it was a lifetime ago, and it''s only been four weeks since I had the babies. Time really gets all warped during pregnancy (feels like it last 40 months, not 40 weeks at times) and after!

As for changing table, we stuck a changing pad on a dresser in the nursery, but we haven''t even used it yet -- we just use the pack-and-play changing table since that''s what they''re sleeping in right now, and convenience is utmost for us right now! The most important thing iisn''t what you change them on, it''s having everything that you need nearby -- diapers, wipes, wipes, and more wipes, a waterproof cloth to line whatever you''re changing them on, and a diaper pail or trash can.

For the moms, do you ever wonder/worry what your baby''s first words will be based on what you say all the time when they''re infants? I swear Gabe''s first words are going to be either "no hands!" (he''s a grabber) or "big mouth!" (trying to get him to open his mouth wider) because that''s what I say to him all the time when he''s nursing. Re: the grabbing ... any advice?! I was telling Q that I''m going to come up with some type of baby handcuffs to restrain them because the grabbing at the boob makes me nuts!!

Oh, and we started using the Johnson and Johnson''s lavender bedtime bath products, and they work! The babies smell like heaven, and they get a really good sleep after their baths now. I wish I could bathe them about eight times a day so they''d sleep that well all day long too!

Sounds like all you preggos are doing well

Jess and Qtiekiki, ahhh, it''s so cute hearing you guys at the beginning stages of being pregnant! Such an exciting time! And the u/s are so fun at that stage! And for all you 2nd and 3rd trimester mommies ... it''s coming up quick!!

Hey Tacori, did you ever get your push present ring??

Jas, also everyone complains it hurts when they drop (feels like the head is coming out they say) so I consider us lucky!

I am too embarrassed to post the pic but trust me. STRANGERS pointed and talked about me. I felt like a freak show!

Ella, not yet. I want to be 100% sold on it. I think I will wait until spring when hopefully I have lost all my weight. DH gave me pave diamond hoops for x-mas so I am not deprived

Tessa has the lavender stuff too. It does smell good.

I really need to figure out the red eye thing but here is Tessa in her x-mas stocking.

Real quick...Ella, I TOTALLY thought of you when I saw that double BOB for about 250. I just thought, I KNOW these things aren''t cheap in the U.S. and there was one left in Navy and remembered you wanting one. It was $299 Australian, which with the exchange rate at the time was about $260 US. If you figure that would be your price after taxes here in california, that would bring the cost of the thing down to about $240 bucks! That''s over a $300 savings in US retail on it right now. The single strollers weren''t nearly as good a savings (about $212 vs the $350 US price). Usually stuff in Oz is way more expensive, so this really threw me!

Are you going to get one for sure?

ellaila - have you seen the double stroller by Phil & Ted''s? http://www.babybungalow.com/nephandtespf4.html

we got ours (in the US) for under $400, so still pricey but not as much as this site and we LOVELOVELOVE it!!! i was not one to care about that expensive brand that begins with M (can''t think of it right now) that a lot of moms i know HAD to have, nor could my DH and i see spending so much on a stroller that would only get a couple of years of use and a ton of abuse. however, when we had our second and needed a double, we happened upon this and it just made so much sense and is so well constructed that we found ourselves going against our previous ''don''t need an expensive stroller'' mindset and we haven''t regretted it. instead of being seated side-by-side the kiddos are seated one underneath the other. you can put two infants, an infant and a toddler, or two toddlers, so it grows with your family and future kids (i.e. you will get a LOT of use out of it). plus it is a walker and a jogger (there is a pin to lock the front wheel if you want to jog) and it has a nice narrow profile like a single so shopping is easy with it. there are too many ACTUALLY useful features for me to list.

i have to add that had we gotten this stroller with our first, we would have gained that much more use from it (the bottom seat makes for great storage when there isn''t another kid in it, then when you have another child, assuming you plan on that, you don''t have to go out and buy either a second stroller or a double with the single now going to waste). if anyone has friends or family looking to go in on a large gift for you, i would highly recommend this!

Tacori - OH MY GOODNESS Tessa is just too precious for words!!! what an adorable idea for a photo, putting her in her stocking! LOVE it!

oh my goodness tacori!!! tessa is such a sweetie pie...love, love those stocking pics!!!

Tacori...she is such a gem. What adorable pics! Weren''t we just planning our weddings yesterday?!

Tgal,

you will really enjoy your shower. I hadnt been in LA long, and dont have many friends here in the southbay, but my MIL threw me a shower with my friends and hers. There were only 12 people there and it was fantastic. I''m really glad I let her do it!

Hey msflutter, nice to see you again! I have to say, I have thought of you from time to time, only because I know around where you live and I pass by it all the time. Your baby is adorable!

I don''t have many friends, period. This newer friend asked me how many people I wanted to invite, and I gave her two names. However, this group we have been hanging out with for 2.5 years now (TGuy and I met them at the same time as they are friends of my cousin-in-law) is really an awesome group and there are about 8 couples, with all of the gals being very nice and I am getting closer to a couple of them. So I will have about the same number of people as in your shower, which sounds like a nice number to me.

All my work colleagues from my first company (back in ''97, as we all keep in touch) wanted to throw me a shower, but I have been in hiding since I announced my pregnancy, so I think I''m safe with only one!

TGal,

I also wanted to ask if you if you are doing any prenatal yoga. I went to a class in Hermosa that was possibly the best part of my pregnancy. Its at 4:30 on mondays, so you may be at work....but if not it is totally worth checking out!

Tacori, Tessa is way toooo cute in that stocking! I love that picture!

Jadeleaves, your son is so big and handsome!

Mrs. Flutter, your little guy is adorable all ready for the New Year!!

Diver, I loved your pic of sweet Delaney!

Ella, the twins are beautiful, I loved their pics!!!

I know I am not a preggo but these baby's are so cute I can't help myself from letting you know how adorable they all are!!!
12.gif
Yay for such beautiful baby's!

ETA: Welcome back TGal, it is good to see you!

Thanks Skippy...it is lovely to be home!

msflutter, I am still taking pilates believe it or not. It''s a big no no if you have not done it before pregnancy (too much abwork) but fine if you are used to it. My other friend (the one who is throwing me the shower) did it until she was 8.5 months pregnant with no issues. It''s been great for my back and I''d like to believe that my stronger abs helped me from poofing out badly earlier. Yeah right.

Tacori--Tessa is simply gorgeous, do you just want to constantly take pics of her?!!! I don''t think i would stop looking at her :-)

Tgal--just read that strong abs are certainly part of showing later--and carrying high. I am still doing ab work most days and thinking maybe i should stop cuz honestly if that would relieve some pressure i am all for it.

I was at step class tonight and have become friends with my instructor--she is also pregnant (16wks) and I noticed that she seemed down lately and had been missing some of the classes she usually teaches--i stayed around to chat with her afterward and she told me that she may not be teaching for much longer b/c of complications .The baby''s liver is growing outside its body,--she will most likely have a c-sec. followed by an operation for the baby and a long recovery/monitoring process --all out of town of course b/c we live in a small city. She says there is a very high chance everything will be fine but of course this would be so stressful--anyone know of anyone who has heard of this/gone thru this?
Despite this challenge she seems so strong and positive, I really admire her.

Tacori--
Tessa is too cute for words. I

ing those big round eyes.
And those little puckers are so cute!

TGal--
Don''t try to fight it too hard about the baby shower

Just enjoy it

That may be the last time it will about you

Jas--
Yep, I was referring to the BH.
I get those at least 3 times a day.
My belly just harden up like a rock.
And when it does, I always feel a need to go.
I guess there''s always pros and cons to however you carry.
You ladies (Jas, TGal, Curly, Diver, and MrsS) are in such good shape.
I don''t know how you ladies get the energy and strength to exercise.
I''d be happy if i can get off my butt to do some weights.

Thanks Tgal. My WI shower was co-ed. It was more like a party instead of a baby shower. Maybe you would be more comfortable with something like that.
Rainy, I thought it would go higher, to her chin, guess I waited too long! I think it still turned out cute and can''t believe she was so relaxed about being stuffed in there.
MrsS, thanks!
MsF, does seem like we were just planning our weddings! I still remember your wonderful pics. Ian is so adorable!
Skippy, thanks!
Jas, I AM constantly taking pics of her! Good thing I got a new camera. She is so used to the flash poor thing. I take them weekly (I am sure that will stop soon) plus whenever I think she looks cute or does something funny. DH set up a website and we post them there and our families have the link. SOOOO much easier than e-mailing them (since there are 100s). Sorry to hear about your friend. How scary!!! I have no experience with this. I am sure there are support groups online.

Hi everyone!

I haven''t posted in a long time, been really busy. I just wanted to stop lurking and say how much I''ve enjoyed following everyone''s pregnancy stories here. PS babies seem to be especially gorgeous, so I''m hoping that fairy dust comes my way too! I''m having my first baby in May.

I''ve been reading this thread avidly for hints, tips and answers to questions, so I thought I should probably stop in and say hi!

Congrats to all the new parents and parents to be here.

Jen

Tacori: Tessa''s pics are adorble!! love the one in the stocking.

MsF: ur baby is very cute in his new year tiara :)

Mrs Mitchell: Welcome on board and congratulations!!! sending fairy dust your way :)

MrsM, welcome! I found this thread SOOOO helpful when I was pregnant! Be sure to add your due date to the "preggo in waiting" thread.

msb, thanks! I couldn''t resist!

Thank you!

I felt my baby move for the first time last week so it all feels real now. I'm nearly 22 weeks, and the time has gone in so quickly! Ella, I do not know how you managed twins, because I have one baby and I'm still early days and I feel HUGE!!! You have my complete admiration! They are adorable.

Jen

ETA Tacori, we were posting at the same time there. Thank you for the welcome - I'll go to that thread now. Congrats on having such a perfect, beautiful daughter, btw. I followed your story from the start and I'm just thrilled for you.

Tacori, a co-ed shower was kind of what I want. Just a bbq party or something. But TGuy was like, what? I have to be part of this? I told him he should suffer along with me! Hehehe. But then I realized a simple get together of 12 girls would be a lot easier on my friend than a party of 25 guys and gals, so I opted to just make it simpler for her.

Mrs Mitchell...welcome!

A quick question - since this is the first event thrown in my honor I've had (with invites and everything), I just wanted to check...should I give the gals who are giving me the shower a gift? I would think that would be OK? What did you do for the ladies who hosted your baby shower?

And awhile back there was a list posted on this thread of stuff you need before the baby is born. I'm going to do an internet search, but just wondering if anyone had a good list offhand. I have to register, and I don't have a clue what I need with the exception of an infant car seat. Thanks!

ETA, found one...let me know if you think there's anything else I should add...

Hey TGal! I was just going to post something on this thread and noticed your Q. Yes, it''s appropriate to give the host(ess) a gift for putting your shower together. Sounds like you have more than one...you could get them a GC for something they like or whatever other gift you think they would enjoy.

Off to check out your registry ideas...I was just helping my SIL with hers last night. She''s preggo for the first time and her shower is in a few weeks so I was helping her tweak it to make sure she is well-equipped for parenthood. Having never been pregnant myself, I am probably not the best person to guide her, but I have lots of friends with babies and have been to about as many baby showers as weddings the past few years, hee hee.

Hopefully this pic is big enough...this is NOT MONNIE''S BABY, but it IS my soon-to-be niece, in 4-D taken yesterday. She was originally due 2-19-08 but is already 5 lbs, 7 oz, so she may come two weeks earlier. Isn''t she adorable already?

My and my SIL''s first name is Heather...and when the subject of baby names first came up last fall I suggested they name the baby Heather (hey, men name kids after themselves, why can''t women, lol)...but apparently my bro and SIL liked the thought of it so much they are considering the name Heather Hailey! I love it!!! They may be totally f.o.s. and are messing with me, but they''re quirky enough to do it. We''ll see when it comes time for them to sign the b.c. I guess!

TGal, for your carseat/stroller/jogger, if you live in an area where it will be chilly at all (btw, I can''t keep track of your whereabouts and forget where you call home exactly, sorry), there is a product by JJ Cole called Bundle Me. www.jjcoleusa.com I think Target online has them but don''t think they''re available in stores, I do know Babies R Us carries them and a lot of department stores have them as well. Oh, and pick up TY notes to write after your shower, I noticed birth announcements were on the list of recommendations but no mention of thank-you notes. And postage, might as well have that on hand now if you''re sending TY''s via snail mail. I bet they make cute baby stamps, or you can have stamps personalized with Ttot''s pic on them now.

TGAL, when it comes to registering, there really isnt much you NEED. But there are alot of things that come in handy. Like the diaper champ, crib mobile, co-sleeper, infant bathtub, bottles, swaddling blankets. When creating my registry, I searched random names on the Babies R us registry and saw what other people were registered for. They also have a checklist of things you ''need''. You can register online, but i noticed that the BRU in Torrance doesn''t have half the stuff online, and most people just run in and get stuff!
