Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I keep checking back as well, but I have to say, I don''t think anyone should try to contact her at this point. We don''t know what she''s dealing with, and I''m sure she knows we are all concerned.

I''m sure she''ll be back to update us as soon as she''s able.

Just my .02.

I found her on another forum once. You can send PMs there and I believe it emails you when you have one (at least it did for me). I can''t remember my password though so I''m impatiently waiting for it to be emailed to me.

Pandora (and others freaked about labor), it is SOOO normal! I was scared too. But I promise you on the day of (no matter what goes wrong) it will be okay and you will go with the flow. One of my biggest fears before hand was to go through HOURS of labor only to end up needing a c-sec. Well, sometime during my 3+ hours of *pushing* my nurse suggested I might need a c-sec. My reaction...book the OR! In the end I had a VB but my point is your only concern will be getting your baby out and healthy. It will be fine and trust me the memory (of the unpleasant) fades quickly

I am worried too, but I agree w/ littlelysser. If she wanted to be in contact right now, I am sure she would make it happen. Regardless, we''re thinking of you, Indy!

Back when I first found out I was pregnant, I learned that 2 of my friends were also and we were all a week away from each other. It was very exciting and we''ve enjoyed emailing back and forth and going to lunch. Today I found out one of them lost her baby. I''ve been crying all afternoon. A few weeks ago, my other friend who was pregnant a few weeks after me, she also lost her baby, but she really early...about 5 weeks along. I just never knew how common this was. I''m not trying to scare any of you. I''m sure you all know the statistic. I''m just venting about my own feelings and friends'' experiences. I don''t even know what to say to them. I''m giving the one that found today some space....I know she doesn''t want to talk to anyone right now. I can''t blame her. Very sad day.

I know what you guys mean, I''m the same way, and thinking about Eph, too. I keep hoping she''ll pop on about her new baby. It''s due in a week!!

I got on hoping to find an update from Indy. I hope everything''s okay with her. I hope that she''s able to post and up to doing it soon.

One of the women at work told me to wear mat pants with the panel rolled down to hip level, and I tried it today. I think that the extra bulk that created works perfectly for now. Still had to hike them up a few times, but much better.

My dogs have been on a squirrel killing frenzy these past two days, and I''m really hoping that the squirrels aren''t diseased. I''m now scared that they''ll lick me and pass something on.

LIA, that''s great that you''re in the safety zone!

Courtney- so sorry 2 hear about ur friends..ugh its just so sad and terrifying..there really is nothing u can say 2 make them feel any better..just let them know u are there if needed...how many weeks along was this friend??
Honestly I am scared of this more than anything and I so wish I hadn''t told anyone until I was clear of that threat but im trying my best to stay positive and thank the man above for every week (6wks3days)

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for being MIA but I have a good excuse, Chloe Anne is here! Here is a quick version of what happened..

On Sunday, I had bloody show and even posted here about it. I didn''t take it seriously because at my last doc appointment, I was told I had a "long way to go", zero effaced, no dilation. I had nothing going on and was thinking about my past due date ultrasound in a few days. Well by Sunday afternoon I had cramps (which I now know were contractions). I still ignored it thinking it was braxton hicks. I didn''t even have a bag packed! Since I had my weekly appointment on Monday morning, I figured I''d ask her about these cramps then. So I went about my day through the contractions--laundry, dinner, got ready for bed. By midnight, geesh, they were coming every 4-6mins and quickly getting worse. I could still talk through them though. But not for much longer. It got awful fast, really painful. DH called the doctor and we went to the ER with a last minute bag. I had to be wheeled into triage and was screaming in pain (I never thought I would)..it was the worst! Turns out I was already 5cm and 80% effaced! I begged for an epi. Well, let''s just say the Sunday late night staff wasn''t so great. It felt like an eternity, but finally the anesthesiologist showed up and I thought I''d never make it. As soon as the needle was in, the pain disappeared. I loved that epidural, and really respect you ladies who go natural, but I couldn''t fathom it.

From then on the contractions continued and were strong and fast, but I felt nothing. Soon I was 8cm, 9..then fully by the next morning. Thank god the morning staff was better and my dr. showed up. Soon I was ready to push and did it for about an hour, still feeling very little, but it was tiring. Chloe Ann was born on our first anniversary, Sept 29th at 7lbs 4oz. She is adorable! If someone tells me how to post a pic, I promise too!

Now we''re home, very sore and filled with new mom worries and having some breast feeding issues (no milk, in pain..but still trying) but things are good, so I guess it''s time for me to graduate to the mommy thread!

I''ll have to catch up on everyone else and read up--did Curly post while I was gone? Kay--soon you''re next!

Congrats Janine and WELCOME CHLOE ANNE!!!!!! Yes, Curly AND Snlee had their babies while you were gone!!!!! There are pictures of Derek somewhere but none yet of Lucy as far as I know.

The friend who I found out about today was 11 weeks along. The doc says she lost it about 2 weeks ago. I believe that''s right when the heart starts to beat and it never started to...am I right?

I don''t think you should regret telling anyone about your pregnancy. And you''re right, the best thing you can do is stay positive. This is just part it...very scary, but reality. I don''t know what it feels like and I don''t want to.

My doc called me today to let me know my blood test results are all fine, but I''m RH negative. I looked this up on the internet and boy is it confusing. I understand what can happen if the baby is positive, but what I don''t get is why I have to get the shot as a precaution if the first child isn''t affected. Anyone know what I''m talking about?

Holy moley......

Indy if your'e reading, my thoughts are with you and your family.

5mm not so good, but you can hang there a long time. I'm guessing cerclage is out.

Here's to tocolytics and great monitoring and a good disposition.

Stay closed, stay closed........

Lisa, one of the things I was wondering is why she can't get a cerclage. Is it just too late?
Hey NF and LIA and anyone interested in cervical incompetence - LIA is spot on. A cerclage is usually placed when cervical incompetence is suspected (after history of m/c or damage to cervix from proceedures like LEEP or cone biopsies) this is unfortunate b/c some women have shortening cervixes w/ a first pregnancy and never know until it is critical. It is a surgical stitch given under anesthesia and sometimes doesn't really help much - cervix can still rip open if having contractions which is why if you are actively contracting they probably won't place it until contractions are totally under control. You don't even have to have contractions for your cervix to shorten BTW!

The women I saw had it done between 12-18 weeks gestation. Not sure why this is the critial period. I saw more multiple gestation moms getting them than singleton moms. However I think there is a threshold where you have to have a certain amount of cervical tissue left for them to even consider it. A level II scan can gauge cervical length - normal is anywhere between from upper 2's - 4 cm. Not sure if manual exam is more accurate. Mine's a 3.1 cm - I'm paranoid so I always ask. ETA - transvaginal is most accurate way to measure.

Based on what Indy wrote I'm pretty sure she's in the hospital. They are probably trying to totally stop the contractions and buy her some more time. As I recall she had like 6 in an hour at the Dr's office. She reported her cervical length was fine just a few days ago........

She can hang out like that for a while although in Trendelenberg (bed sloped toward your head).

Lisa Thanks so much for the explanation! I thought Indy said her cervix was only 5mm though and it was supposed to be 25mm? There are just so many numbers being thrown around I'm not sure what is the "correct" number in this situation.

I have a bad feeling she is in the hospital too, it's just not like her to miss checking in esp. with the excitement yesterday. I just hope she and the cubs are doing well and pulling through. We're rooting for you guys Indy!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say that my thoughts and prayers are with you Indy- I haven''t checked in for awhile, but was so sad to read your post. I hope you and the cubs are doing great and you are in the hands of some great doctors.

Congrats Janine on your new bundle of joy, I love the name Chloe Ann, just gorgeous. Can''t wait for you to post pics.

Pandora, I wish I had some sage advise for m/s, I tried a so many things but i haven''t found a magic cure

some days are getting a little better but most days I find that my body feels like it''s being poisoned to death, bleh!

Robbie, you are in my prayers as well. I hope you get pregnant again soon. I am sorry for what you had to go through-

I know I am missing a lot of pertinent things, I am so far behind to reply to everything that is going on, but I hope everyone is doing great! I have been so sick for for the past 8 weeks, thus not getting around to posting much. But I hope I will be able to post a lot more now that glimpses of normalcy seem in closer reach-

CONGRATULATIONS JANINE! Welcome Chloe! What a wonderful wedding anniversary present! So excited we have little ones that are 3 days apart! Can't wait to see pictures of Chloe!

To post a picture, go to attach file. Let us know if you have any issues.

Regarding breastfeeding, have you seen a lactation consultant? I've met with two so far. The second one was fabulous and her tips were awesome and helped immensely! I highly recommend seeing one if you are having issues. Or if you want advice, like Tacori said, I'm here.

I will post my labor story soon. Derek was in the hospital for 2 days due to jaundice and my story is super long (it'll probably bore you!) because I want to remember every detail so it's taken me while to write it. We are home now and he is doing great.

Congrats janine!!! Welcome Chloe Anne!!!
I knew you were going to have your baby soon when you posted about your bloody show.
I love the name Chloe, and wanted to use it for DD but DH vetoed it.
Keep up the good work with breastfeeding. It''s only been 2 days since you gave birth, so your milk will come soon enough. Just keep feeding her. She is getting nutrients from your colostrom.
Can''t wait to see pics.

Indy - Hope you and the cubs are ok. I am thinking of you.

Congratulations Janine and welcome Baby Chloe!
