Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Sabine-

Thinking of you and hoping all stays well.

Sabine im still hopeful that its nothing and the usual early bleeding...stay strong.

Good news, Sabine! Hopefully it is just normal early spotting. Scary, though!

Thanks again girls. I''m feeling a little better about things this morning, although I did have a little more bleeding when I woke up this morning. As long as it doesn''t become really heavy/clotty, I think I''ll be okay. I called the dr. first thing this morning, and a nurse took my info., so now I''m waiting for a doc. to call me back. I''m guessing I''ll just have my beta''s checked again tomorrow, and if they are okay, I''ll just be one of those people who bleed, so now I''m praying that my levels are doubling!

Sabine, I''m sending lots of good thoughts your way. 5w 4d usually IS too early to see the heartbeat like you said. I know that we are all pulling for you!

Sabine..do u have cramping??

Yes, Sabine...try not worry since there''s no clotting!! Hang in there.

Sabine I am hoping for the best for you! The first trimester is such a roller coaster.

As for me, I had my GD screen this morning, so cross your fingers that I passed! I don''t feel like there are any issues with my blood sugar, so I am hoping to get the all-clear, but that screen has really really high false positives so who knows? I will find out on Thursday at my midwife appointment. If you can believe it, I am now going every 2 weeks!!

Getting so close! Onle 12 weeks left, which makes it seem waaaay too close for my comfort level!!

Dreamer - you''re "redefining" the 12 week wait! lol. Love it. Cannot believe how smooth and relatively fast your pregnancy has been. Hooray for that!

Sabine - Oh lady I''m really pulling for you and your fetal pole!! Hopefully it''s nothing. Hang in there! I''m going to ask the same Q as a few others have asked...any cramping?
Fingers crossed for you!

Nuthin'' to report here.

Dreamer! Aren''t you in the 3rd trimester now? I forget when it technically starts.

Sabine - sending good vibes your way!

DD - 12 wks left for you?! Where is the time going?

Neatfreak - congrats on getting to full term! SUCH great news, and such a testament to your hard work because I know it wasn''t easy keeping the twinkies in there!

I''m officially in Week 34 (craziness I know) and have started meeting pediatricians so that I can decide who to go with in a week or two.

Btw ladies, i MAY very well be jinxing myself here, but i thought i''d pass on some potentially good news. as someone who already had stretch marks on my pre-preggo body i was sure the pregnancy would wreak havoc on my belly. well, i''ve been diligently massaging extra virgin olive oil on my belly after every shower since the end of the first trimester and have NO stretch marks on my belly as yet! I know they can still show up over the next few weeks, but I do think this is pretty good esp since i was prone to getting them.

oh wow SBDE - that is GREAT! I too use stuffs on my body to potentially avoid le marks, so I''m glad to hear that it is worth it! Great news

awesome mela - i hope the routine is as successful for you as it has been for me!

me too! Avoiding stretch marks is quite the feat! Congrats to you!!!

Keep Lubing!

LOL... I think it has been the same amount of time as it is for everyone, but I know what you mean. This has been a relatively easy pregnancy (knock wood!!).

If it makes anyone feel better about how "easy" I have it, I have stretch marks already!
39.gif
Little bitty ones that are starting to get bigger, starting right above my pubic line. Like SBDE I am prone to them but never on my stomach. I am hoping they don''t grow too much more since right now they are so low that they won''t show over panties, but it sucks!! None anywhere else, despite the fact that my (*)(*) are so huge now! Aaaand I have gained a lot of weight compared to many of you. So there''s the trade-off. No m/s or complications, but a big fat a$$ and stretch marks!

Courtney I am in the third trimester now! I am pretty sure it starts in week 28, and I am in week 29 now. Craziness. I feel like the first trimester crawled along so slowly, and now the second was over in a blink of the eye!

Ohh I am so jealous of all you non-stretch marked ladies! I didn''t have one until maybe 30 weeks and unfortunately they have cropped up quickly from there! I had been/have been lubing up all day it seems, and it at least helps with the pain/itchiness of them. I really hope it helps them fade faster too!

So as you can tell, I''m still here. Boys have been served a second eviction notice and a threat of no dating until they are 18 unless they come out before Wednesday.

Neat any recent estimates of how big your boys are? Are they over 5lbs each now?

We''ll know tomorrow, but I would sure assume so! They measured at 4 lbs 10 oz and 5 lbs a month ago, so even with the margin of error (10 oz either way), I would imagine that they are at least 5 lbs now if not 6...

I''ll let y''all know after my u/s tomorrow!

That's great! I bet you are right and they are around 6lbs. That would be great, they probably wouldn't even need to stay overnight if they were that big! Well, maybe overnight for observation, but not much longer!

Well we will all be there at least two days (if it''s a VB) and 4 if it''s a c-section. That''s pretty standard in the US these days. But let''s hope they can spend that time with me rather than in the NICU!

I am sure if they are over 6 lbs they can stay with you, that is a nice healthy size!

I'm surprised that they keep you so long after a VB. In Canada you go home the same day, assuming no major medical issues! I guess if you wanted to stay and you had extended health insurance or wanted to pay out of pocket, then you could stay, but most of my friends were pretty darn eager to go home! The midwives let you go as soon as you are ready, often within a couple of hours--then they check on you at home the next day/later that night and by phone too. I imagine that the time you deliver matters, and whether you have an epi or not... with an epi you'd need to stay at least as long as it took for the meds to wear off.

DD, I can''t believe you go home the same day over there! That''s crazy!

I learned an important lesson today: When trying to hide the fact that you''re gaining weight, don''t wear a bulky sweater unless it''s really loose or it just makes it look like you''ve gained more than you really have.

Like I said, if there was a need to stay then you would, or if you really wanted to for some reason, but most women seem to want to go home. There is good follow-up care here where health nurses or your midwife come by a few times in the first week you are home, so you aren''t alone or anything, and being at home is just more comfortable for many women I think. Funny how different places work differently.

Right-e-o DD!
I am, for one, grateful that we get released so quickly here in Canada. As long as there are no issues - I want to go home right away (to see my pooch-baby!) lol.

Yeah, my mom said she went home same day with me, so it is certainly a new thing. It basically comes down to insurance regulations because they are required by law to cover at a minimum 2 days for a VB and 4 for a c-section, so it has become somewhat standard to stay that long since insurance covers it I guess. I do know that some docs will let you out earlier if you request it.

As nice as it would be to be home, I have to say there *is* something nice about having a 24 hour on call staff to help you learn to breastfeed, swaddle, etc. the first few days!

I wouldn''t want to go home the same day. I could barely move after my VB! Plus I loved having 24 hour on call service, nurses helping you learn to care for your baby, change the baby''s diapers, give you pain meds, wake you up to remind you it''s time to feed baby, lactation consultant to help you breastfeed, nurses and doctors checking up on you and the baby to make sure things are going well, and the yummy hospital food (no joke! I thought the hospital food was great. Make sure you enjoy those meals because when you come home you have no time to cook a meal!). I loved my time in the hospital. DH enjoyed it too...so much that he asked me to have another baby soon so we could stay at the hospital again!

I was in the same boat as Snlee after my VB. I was so out of it and in a lot of pain. Thank God for my nurse and my husband or I don''t think I would have survived! My hospital food was great too! I kept requesting this chicken soup that they had because it was so good.
