Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Okay, I''m freaking out here. I just talked to the nurse and got my hcg level. 2 days ago it was 19,570 ish. Now it is 26,000 something. So it went up, but it definitely didn''t double. The nurse didn''t know what to tell me, and the doctor had already gone home for the day. She told me the doctor would want to schedule an ultrasound and maybe another hcg test, and that someone would get back to me tomorrow.

I am so confused. I really thought the results would clearly indicate that either it''s fine and the pregnancy is viable, or I''m miscarrying. But it looks like I''m going to have to keep waiting, adn I''m going out of my mind here.
Sabine- doubling every 48 hours is not a hard fast rule. Your numbers DID go up and that''s good! With my 3rd baby, I had 4 episodes of fairly bad bleeding right up to 13 weeks, my numbers didn''t always double with my hcg draws, and my son is now 3 years old
1.gif
I would definitely get an u/s scheduled and another hcg draw, even if it''s just for peace of mind. With each bleeding I had, my OB did an ultrasound, an hcg draw (although they didn''t anymore after 8 weeks) and an internal check. I know how scary and unsettling it is, but bleeding doesn''t always mean a miscarriage, thankfully.

Sabine, ditto what Neat and Feb said. It can also be completely normal to take 72 hours to double. At some point though the doubling does start slowing down. ::Hugs:: I wish that this could''ve given you a clear answer.

Thanks girls. I guess I still have hope then. I really wish I could talk to the doctor, but I guess I''ll have to try to be patient and wait till tomorrow. The nurse said that maybe I''m farther along than we though which is why the doubling has slowed down, but if that were true then I probably should have seen a heartbeat on the u/s on Sunday.

Based on your chart I really doubt that you''re further along. That O shift was really clear and it lined up with the CM. I''m sure every pregnancy is different and the doubling slows down sooner for some.

Sabine- personally I think this is good news but im no expert and I agree it doesn''t have to double necessarily...but I would be very angry that the nurse couldn''t tell me anything...they should get that info from doc since they call u with the results..grr..I know how awful it is waiting like this and worrying.

Neat- so excited to have an actual date!..and wow u will be how many wks then...38? Having it planned I think is easier so u r prepared for everything.

Pandora- im glad the meeting went well at least better than expected ..and dh is the best with the sushi idea..mmm. Try to relax and take it easy mama.

AFM- well 1 of my twinks is a BOY! The other had legs crossed lol(of course)...but I have an gender u/s on sat so will know definitley by the weekend...so exciting...can my dream of boy/girl combo come true??? :)

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that after it''s already that high it doesn''t double nearly every 24 hours. I think it''s supposed to be every 36-72...which means that yours could be doubling at the slower rate and be fine. But not 100% positive. I''m thinking of you though!!!

Big ditto!! Also, I did a little searching and apparently once you HCG levels hit 6000 the doubling time slows to more like every 3-4 days. I think such high levels and the fact that it rose substantially in two days despite the high level makes it unlikely you are miscarrying right now. Every woman''s body produces different amounts of HCG in the beginning. High levels can be associated with molar pgs and ectopic, but you already had a scan and know it isn''t either of those, so you just must be a real hormona! haha

Interpreting HCGs is an art, not a science. Many women on the boards I frequent get freaked out by the numbers not matching "the book" but as we all know, that book isn''t generalizable to everyone. Try to take a breath and go with the flow, so to speak. Nothing can be done no matter what is going on in your body, so we all just have to trust that it will be okay. It sounds like the signs are positive, so try to hang onto that.

Sabine - hang in there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is fine....it is a good sign that your numbers went up!

Pandora - glad the meeting went well! It'll be interesting to see if in-gender girls are right for you! I really have no question, because I see the nub shooting up in my u/s! But they still say 75% accuracy this early....so we'll see.

Neat - ALL of my friends had boys! So I feel like I'm surrounded by boys all the time
9.gif
And they all feel like you said, that now they would never want a girl....2 of my friends had 2 boys and are done. I'm sure I be madly in love w/ my son, but we'll be trying for that girl next time for sure
3.gif
I love your choice of names btw...Dexter is one name DH and I both like. Warren being the other for us....but we have no real for sures yet.

One thing I have learned is that EVERY pregnancy is very different. And doubling can slow down for some women well before a h/b can be detected, so there is still plenty of hope hon. The fact that they saw a fetal pole and it IS rising are both really good signs.

Sabine, I would be calling that doctor''s office every 5 minutes. If yours isn''t in, demand to speak to another one. Maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. I can only imagine what you''re feeling right now, but I do agree with the others that it''s a GOOD thing it''s going up.

Action Jackson on the board today!

Pandora - Phew that the meeting is DONE and that it went relatively well. I love your ''chilax'' plan for tonight. Put those feet up and celebrate your little win.
2.gif

Cdt - yey for boy!! (75%) I''m pretty sure I''m with you on the Boy thing...so it''ll be interesting to see what Pandora and I end up with
3.gif

NYC - Same to you - congrats on 1 boy
36.gif
Now...for the other one
27.gif
. That little monkey better show it''s junk!!!
37.gif

Neat - HOORAY for a date! That is Great. Now you can plan away...and then sit back and ''relax''. Murphy''s law, now that you have a ''date'', they''ll surprise you early
6.gif

Sabine - I too am no expert, but I''d be willing to say that you can remain hopeful because they are going up!? Follow-up with another draw and then just sit back and cross your fingers. Que sera, sera. Right?
17.gif

Steph - my GF had 2 pregnancies (both her DS and DD) where she lost tons of hair.

I don''t know why this happens...but apparently its common.

Fiery - related to the smootie talk, I''m addicted to Tropicana Apple juice right now. It''s so good. I''d try that in your smoothie!! Yummers.

mela 15w5d

Haha@little monkey mela- I know..I had a feeling that would happen with the legs but hey sat they better get it!

Mela I thought u were ahead of me..how are you 15wk5d and im 16w3d? Or am I mistaken...I have those pregger brain moments a lot!

OMG I AM 16w5d!!

HAHAHAHAHA.

I''m SO DUMB!!!! I''ll be 17 weeks this Friday. I *knew* that, but clearly got confused. lol.

LOL ..I feel we will have many of those preggers brain moments ;)

Okay, I have bump pictures - excuse the dodgy photography (it's DH's hobby not mine...) and I took these.

It's also blooming freezing here so I've got 3 jumpers on that kept slipping down. Sorry!

I think it looks very high up already. Most odd...

Pandora- cute cute bump! You skinny minnies and your adorable bumps! All wideness here Lol.

What a cute bump Pandora. I forget, how many weeks are you?

Thanks

I''m 17 weeks and 1 day.

Time just seems to fly around here...

Pandora, I have to chime in with the "cute bump" crowd! You are adorable!

Awe, Pandora, your bump is adorable!

Neat, apparently I''m the most unobservant person ever because I just noticed that you got a $1000 gc to a ps vendor! Congrats! What are you going to get? Is there a thread about this that I missed somewhere?

Wow a ton has happened!

NF, that''s so great to know that there''s an end date in sight. And congrats on the $1000!!

Pandora, I''m glad to hear your news. And the sushi sounds amazing right now. I''m so hungry (dinner''s cooking). Such a cute bump!

Robbie, damn, look at you girl! Very cute bump, even if it is all bloat.
2.gif
That dinner sounds amaazing.

Constipation... the only thing that really helped me was ditching the prenatals and just supplementing with certain vitamins.

I love yogurt in smoothies. And I have yogurt and frozen fruit, and it sounds so good right now... but it''s just so cold here so I don''t know. We''re keeping the house at 60 deg F to save on heating costs, and it''s all snowy outside.

I''m getting more stressed about money, and I''m really trying to be calm and zen about it. I recalculated the budget last weekend, but keep remembering about things that I''ve forgot to figure in (water/sewage - billed only quarterly so we don''t think about it much, things like contact lenses for me, etc.) And I forgot that we need to pay a realtor if we sell the house, which is a big chunk of change! And we still don''t know when DH''s last day is, and still don''t know if/what kind of severance package he''d be getting, or if he''d have to pay back tuition for his MBA classes (he was supposed to stay a year after a given class finishes to avoid paying them back). One of his coworkers called HR to see if they knew details and they basically just told hiim not to bother them. DH is almost happy to be leaving, because they really don''t treat their employees well at all.

You aren't unobservant! Andrey only posted about it today. It was very generous of them...I think I am going to get some lovely ACA earrings from Whiteflash, as I have baby bezel studs (.16 ctw) and wear them all the time but sometimes crave a bit more bling...so I think that makes the most sense. But I think I am going to wait until WF gets new ACA's which should be toward the end of January so I can maximize my budget. I would love to get .80ctw or so with a few hundred dollars thrown in from me...

Blen Big hugs girl! It's very frustrating to have the rug proverbially pulled out from under you. But you are so smart and level headed I am sure that you'll work with what you've got. You are obviously a lot more responsible than many out there in your position, so that's a really great asset to be working with!

Pandora Nice bump! Everyone carries so differently, it just amazes me completely!

So cute Pandora...you look fantastic!

PANDORA YOU LOOK SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your bump
30.gif

NF - congrats again girl! I posted in the hangout thread - yahoo ACA''s!!!

I agree with everyone else - cute bump!

Poll: When did it really hit you that you''d soon be pushing a baby out of your body?

I''ve been putting it off and ignoring those chapters in books, thinking I would face it later on down the road as I got closer. Well, I''m there now! Today is officially my halfway mark, so that combined with seeing my cousin in labor and the next day seeing that beautiful, tiny creature....wow. My night was filled with L&D dreams and this morning, I came up with a list of questions for my OB tomorrow. Now it''s all I can think about. I''m looking up class schedules and talking my DH''s ear off. He''s probably a little overwhelmed now. He asked why he would need to go to the breastfeeding class with me. I said "Because you need to now how to help me." There should be other men there, right?

Lalala lalala, can''t hear, it''s all lies and a big conspiracy...

Actually it hasn''t hit me at all that I am having a baby. Maybe when I start to be able to feel it I will feel as if it''s more real. At the moment it seems very far away.

I''m not sure what we are doing about antenatal classes yet. The National ChildbirthTrust run private classes, where I am more likely to meet other mothers of a similar background (they tend to be older, better educated etc) which could be nice especially as your kids tend to end up at the same nursery, school etc

I met a really nice girl in the waiting room at my last appointment who is due 2 weeks before me and was planning on going.

On the other hand, I have been warned that the woman who runs then in this area is a complete natural-birth fascist and you are made to feel majorly guilty about having anything more than gas and air. Since I am already a bit sensitive about my child being born an opiate addict, I''m not sure I need someone making me feel that I am a bad failure of a mother before it''s even born.

The hospital runs free courses, but I''m not that keen. So, I might just buy a DVD and take things as they come on the day...

My hospital has breast-feeding consultants on the postnatal wards so I will probably wait till then for that side - and phone the La Leche League in desperation if I have problems. I did read a fantastic book in the hospital library last week purely on breastfeeding that looked very helpful. I will see if I can find the name of it.
