Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Tacori, wanted to add, I hope that nursery stuff gets taken care of. Man, that is frustrating! Did you make your DH call?

And I hope the baby turns soon!

I had to come gush, I knew you guys could/would appreciate it. I just finished visiting my brand new great niece for the first time, she was born Tues.

Stella Rose, 6 lbs., 19 inches, and absolutely, flawlessy beautiful. And I''m not just being biased.
9.gif

Anyway, I just had to tell somebody how sweet she is. God bless her.

Thanks Tgal!

Also, I wanted to mention something I bought her mom, along with a bunch of other stuff. I'd never seen one, but then I'm not in the market for baby stuff. So it might be old news to you guys, but I thought it was so cool.

It was a binky with a built in thermometer, that played music when it was done reading the temp. Now, I can't TELL you how welcomed this would have been when my kids were babies. There was almost nothing worse than having a sick wee one, and trying to carefully insert a glass thermometer you know where in a squirming body.
yikes2.gif

I asked the pharmacist how accurate it was, and she said fairly. It won't read to the absolute 10th of a degree, but close enough to let you know they have one. I would have killed for something like this.

You people got it WAY too easy.

Tacori: Oh, I wasn''t saying they had to do 10 movements in an hour, just time how long it takes to get to 10. (you might find your baby only does 3 moves) Its about finding the pattern. The point is, taking a few minutes each day at the same time (I opt for bedtime since I always wind up there..lol). But Delaney will hit those 10 movements in 5 minutes or less. I notice she''s quiet & motionless while I''m busy (the motion lulls her to sleep) and as soon as I sit down and relax she wakes up and starts moving. She rarely kicks though. She''s more of a stretch and reach girl. LOL. Hiccups, rolls, somersaults, punches, and ANY kind of movement counts, not just kicks.

For Sale:

One husband. Nice looking, well groomed, but definitely male. Leaves socks on floor, dirty dishes in sink, and newspapers on bathroom floor. I am no longer capable of picking up after him.

Hearing slightly damaged, cannot remember to bring laptop case into house from car despite repeated requests due to rash of neighborhood car thefts.

Head is in clouds, seems to think every thing works itself out on its own, has not realized that is due to efforts of wife.

Comes with cat.

Free to good home.

(I''m keeping the dog & the kids)

Diver, why are you trying to sell my husband?

Tgal...no...MINE! arrrrrrrrghhhhh

Why is it the more pregnant I get the stupider he gets? I''m seriously peeved.

Well, maybe all the farting we preggo women do is actually "stupid gas" and affects them...

I'm sitting here at work about to bawl out of frustration/annoyance, so I turn to the Pregnant PSers thread for a break and ... laughed out loud at Diver and TGal's husband-selling camaraderie! Thanks, guys! You're all the bestest.

But, yeah ... I'm beyond frazzled right now and am about to pull all my hair out or punch someone. Or punch someone and pull all their hair out (yeah, better solution). I'm overworked, undervalued, underpaid, exhausted, and just flat-out annoyed. I'm thisclose to walking out of my job and not looking back.

Know what would make me feel better? A lot better? SLEEEEEEEEEEEP. Seriously, what I wouldn't give for just like four consecutive hours of sleep! I know that doctors prescribe some sleeping aids to preggos, but I don't want to go that route because a) I just feel uncomfortable with it, and b) I'm worried that I'll start peeing the bed b/c I won't be awake to go empty my bladder!! I've heard too many "lost control of my bladder" stories lately, so now I'm all paranoid.

Anyhow, sorry to be ms. piss today. Thanks for letting me vent!

Onto better things! Like Ellen's great niece Stella Rose!!
36.gif
And that thermometer sounds way cool. I think the blingy pacifiers are a riot too. Not that they make life easier or anything, but they make me laugh!

And TGal's newly sensitive hubby -- whoo hooo! Probably a temporary thing so enjoy it while it lasts. And lose that guilt, woman!! There is lots of potential unpleasantness in store in the upcoming weeks/months for you, so if someone wants to be nice to you, take it and run!

RE: Kick counts ... still waiting to truly feel the little ones kicking in there (sigh). Still get occasional flutters but nothing that really is a "Whoa, that's a kick!" moment yet. Hopefully in the next few days or so, as I'm 21+ weeks right now.

Aww Ella, I am sorry you are having a such a bad day. I don''t know how you do it! I work from home and have often wondered how pregnant ladies manage. I am SO tired all the time and it makes me feel better that if I had to take a nap, I could (interestingly, just knowing I *can* take a nap seems to be enough to tide me over during business hours, as I have been making it through the day without one...but I crash EARLY at night.) Are you going to stay at your job once you have the twins?

So I take it someone at work is pissing you off? Feel free to vent girl!

And I felt like I nearly had a losing bladder control episode last night. I haven''t read this is an issue! I had a dream that I was peeing and woke up, and had to check if I had peed in my sleep. Fortunately I didn''t, but I felt like I could have. Eek!

Yeah...I''ll take the niceness and run. I''m getting better at it. Sometimes an independent woman has just got to let herself be loved.

And thanks!

Okay, there were REALLY nice about it. I ended up calling myself with DH''s promise that he would step in if there were any problems. I was nice about it so they were nice. They are ordering a new one and will pick up the reject when they drop off the new one. At least I can use it for the time being. I am on my second load of wash. My mom said I was doing it too early. Do you guys think 9 weeks is too early? I am having a great time starting to organize everything! We are still moving around furniture. Trying to see which way looks best. I need to get some REAL work done (like TGal I work from home) but the baby stuff is more fun
1.gif

Ellen, congrats! I love her name. My mom & MIL are amazed by the new products that are out now. I can only imagine what they have when I become a grandmother/great aunt.

TGal, how sweet of him! I am SOOOOO jealous! Though DH HAS been on my good list since he is getting the nursery done.
36.gif
Plus last night when we were watching TV he actually reached out to touch my belly (he hardly ever does that). Plus he has 4 houses under contract so he is in an extra good mood.

Ella, sorry to hear about your frusterations. I hope work goes better. Are you going to continue after the babies are born? I was 20 weeks before I felt real kicks (and they were still light then). Even now like I mentioned I have a lazy baby. Enough movement where I don''t get worried but not a ton. I read it could be b/c of the position. I guess the kicks are stronger head down than up. Not sure if that is true.

Diver, you are right it is about pattern. My baby is a night owl too. I will have to pay attention tonight. We will have our own little support club if we need c-sections. My mom had one with my brother and I think she said it was fine. I will have to ask her more about it. I just wonder about a VBAC. I know a lot of docs won''t do that. With my mom, my brother was her last (and you are on your last) so it was never an issue. Like you I wish I knew now so I could get mentally prepared. I guess I will know more the closer I get. At least I get another u/s!
36.gif
Those are ALWAYS fun!!!

Hi girls,

Ellen, so cool about seeing your baby neice. It''s so hard for me to remember even my own being that little but being around other tiny babies and seeing the little tiny diapers does get me a little excited again..

So, i''ve managaged to catch some type of aweful cold. I''ve been running a fever and can''t breathe though my nose. I called the dr. yesterday and they told me to just take tylenol or tylenol sinus and rest, rest, rest and drink a ton a fluids which really helps cut down on the trips to the bathroom
4.gif
. Hubby was nice enough to take the girls to mcdonald''s to play and run a few other errands just to I could stay in bed and sleep. So. 3 hours later, i''m feeling a little better and just so thankful that I''m not feeling the 24/7 queasiness that has plagued me thus far.

diver, too funny about your hubby. my house is an absoulete reck right now. my hubby will do laundry and is pretty good with helping with dishes, but any actual cleaning, dusting, vaccumming etc..ain''t going to happen. So the floor will stay unmopped until i get to feeling better...

tacori, you still have time for your baby to turn..try to not worry about it..

tgal, i hope you are feeling better. I do agree that i wonder how the gals who work and can''t take the mini (or loooong if you''re me) naps do it.

ellaila- you can''t vent here anytime..

MrsS I am sorry to hear you are sick. I am not worried now that I talked to the store. I was just worried they would blame us since we did not check the furniture sooner. They said it is in stock so hopefully we will get the correct dresser in 3-4 weeks.

Take care of yourself and the baby! Get lots of rest.

Great news about the dresser, Tacori! You def. catch get more flies with honey than vinegar, eh?
17.gif

Hope you feel better soon, MrsS! I didn''t even think you could take something like Tylenol Sinus b/c it''s a decongestant, right? But maybe you can. I assume the dr. knows more than I do! Either way, feel better!

As for going back to work after the twins ... well, if you''re someone I currently work with and you''re reading this, then yes, of course, I''m going back! I couldn''t imagine leaving such a fine company that pays me so well and appreciates me. If you''re somone I don''t work with, then HELL NO I''m not going back!!!! I am counting down the minutes till I get to walk out that door for good! Still haven''t figured out what our situation will really be -- daycare? SAHM? new job? -- but no matter what, I''m done with this job once the babes make their arrival! Yeeeeeeeehaaaawwww!!!!
25.gif

TGal, the two recent pee stories I heard were actually exactly the same: at about 27-30 weeks, these women both thought their water broke and went to the hospital only to find out that it wasn''t their water -- but that they had peed themselves without realizing it!! My urges to pee come on SO suddenly and urgently right now that I''m scared this will happen to me (though I def. don''t feel like I''m unable to control myself -- yet at least!). This really sudden urge is new though -- I guess the babies are getting bigger and their shifting must put more pressure on the bladder ...

And yes being pregnant and having an office job is a bad combination!! I''m so envious of you guys that work from home or don''t work -- lucky duckies.

Yes. When her mommy went to hand her over to me, for a split second I thought, HOW do I do this?? She is SO little, and adorable....Thanks.

And I hope you feel better soon!

Ellen: congratulations on Stella Rose! Love the name! You sound like my MIL..she was here watching BirthDay with me in June & said, "husbands get to hold your hands in the delivery room? You can labor in a jacuzzi? Epidurals work? They don''t knock you out? Wow, you ladies have it easy! That''s a spa day, not childbirth!".

Ok....lol...its not that easy, but yeah, its easier.

So COOL! I saw that paci-thermometer the other day & almost bought it. But I always do rectal with the babies...for accuracy. I got one by Vicks that is a little digital oval thingie, and it has a really small tip so you don''t have to worry about going in too far. Maybe I''ll get the paci one. Just be sure not to confuse the two. LOL!!!

Ellaila: ahhh, you are having that day eh? Yuk. Go on a butt kickin'' spree...it''ll feel good. Just kidding, but man, i hope your day gets better. What kind of work are you currently underpaid and undervalued to do?

Tacori: I''d have been surprised if they had given you a hard time.

Peeproblems: KEGELS!! DO ''EM! Religiously!! Every day! In the car, watching tv...just kegel kegel kegel kegel. I swear, I was a kegel fiend last time & had no problems. And it is very common for women to have, umm, control issues after childbirth, so just get in the habit now, because your pelvic floor needs serious training for the marathon its about to run.

Ooooh........bliss.....DH tivo''d Googoo Dolls live in Breckenridge for me last night...I just downloaded a CD from I tunes last night (my old dog ate Dizzy Up the Girl) and I watched the concert today & now its playing the video from Slide...one of my all time favorite songs. oooh now its Iris. God, what happened to this band. That lead singer is yummy.

I''m seriously in love with MTV''s HD concert station. On our new HD bigscreen. Fun!

Jas and Mrs. S, a little late but wanted to wish you both Congratulations!!

It''s such an exciting time and I''m happy for you!

And thanks!

Belly button update- Who''s has popped and who hasn''t?

So clearly EVERYTHING I need to buy everyone else does too. I went to 4 different stores (in the 101 degree heat!) in search of baby hangers and this certain kind of storage container I want. All sold out!
20.gif
So annoying!!! At least I found the perfect curtain rod
36.gif
Who knew they were so hard to find?!? Also the chair is in and looks great. It is all coming together. Hopefully I will be able to post pics next week
9.gif

DH rested his head on my belly this morning and SWEARS he could hear baby''s kicks and punches. Actually baby got a good hit right to DH''s face.
11.gif
It was pretty funny.

How are all the mommies and mommies to be doing?

yay tacori for finding the right curtain rod. I can''t wait to see pics of your baby''s room all done.

so, i''m feeling MUCH better today. still not 100% but better which is good. I slept most of the day yesterday, all last night, took a 3 hour nap today and plan on going to bed again early in hopes of feeling completely back to normal tomorrow. I have my 1st prenatal visit on monday morning and i''m so excited. hubby is going with me so he can hear the heartbeat.

Mrs. S...so glad you are ok! Whenver I get a cold I run a humidifier in my room, that really helps a lot. Awww....hearing the heartbeat, how fun! That''s always such a thrill the first time (I love it every time, but the first is the best)

Ellaila: you''d be surprised at what you CAN take when pregnant. I got a cold (I could NOT breathe) that was so bad, my OB put me on Sudafed, Afrin, and something else. He prescribed me a tranquilizer when I had my botched amnio (I forget what kind, but I never filled it, because I felt less frantic after he checked the baby on ultrasound the next day & all was well), and he has me on 300mg of Zantac a day for my wicked heartburn. (its so bad, I want to puke all day long & can''t function. this is no kindergarted grade heartburn, I wake up choking on bile at 3am if I don''t take it...I breathe it down my windpipe in my sleep and nothing else works). Let''s see...he''s also okayed Immodium and Tylenol. This poor kid has been so medicated this time around, I''m almost afraid to have her--I hope her parts are all where they belong! I take a ton of Zantac. I''ve been on 300mg a day since week 24 or so. I had it with Jake & it was bad, but its 10 times worse this time. She must be getting a TON of hair.

Well...I''m gonna log off and get some sleep...Miss Delaney has been bebopping around in my tummy a ton today & its so cute. She makes it move......wild.

So uhhhh ... I just discovered I have another lovely symptom of pregnancy.

I have a hemmerhoid.
32.gif

I know they''re very common during pregnancy, but yikes. It doesn''t hurt or anything ...anyone know if I need to bother calling my dr. or not? According to what I read, they usually go away on their own, or I guess I can try some of those medicated pads. Jeez, being a preggo can have some embarrassing side effects!

ella, how do you know you have one? I have heard they are so common. If it isn''t bothering I would probably just wait to talk to him at your next appointment.

Good luck with your appt. tomorrow, MrsS! I still get all excited for my appts -- it''s so fun hearing/seeing how the little ones are doing! How old are your other daughters, by the way?

And glad you''re feeling better, too! As for meds, yeah, I haven''t really been sick yet since being pregnant, so I wans''t sure what you could take other than Tylenol. I''m sure that most stuff is pretty safe in small doses, and obviously it''s best for Mommy to feel better ASAP b/c a sick body isn''t going to do a baby any good.

Tacori, I did have a little bleeding the other day, but I didn''t really think much of it, and then I noticed it yesterday after my shower -- I had a little discomfort so I looked in the mirror, and BAM there it was. I think sometimes they don''t really stick out (?), but this one made its appearance known. Eeeek. I was asking hubby if "Hey, ever seen a hemmerhoid?" is a good pickup line, but he didn''t think it was so hot. Another I tried out was "Got any hemmerhoids in ya?" (like that "Got any Irish in ya?" line) -- that one went ever better
2.gif

You asked about belly buttons. Mine hasn''t popped yet but it''s pretty much gone! Hubby has a thing about belly buttons (doesn''t like them), so I''m always trying to get him to touch it, but he gets all freaked out by it. Haha
21.gif

We threw brunch for some friends this morning, and we are just SO wiped out now!! There were eight grown ups, two three-year olds, an 16-month old, and a 4-month old, so our little house was full -- but it was fantastic! Our first real get-together in our new house, and it was a smashing success if I say so myself. But man, entertaining is hard work when you''re pregnant! Friends brought us one of our cribs, some *adorable* and barely worn (some not worn at all!) baby girl clothes, and some maternity clothes though, so we made out quite well!

We are supposed to head over to BRU this afternoon, but it''s already 3:00 and I''m not sure either of us has the stamina for it! It was so nice and cool last week -- why''d the heat have to return?!

Hi all. So, I just got home from the dr. everything is exactly on track and i'm offically at 7 weeks 4 days, so a little behind where i thought but that makes the due date April. 10 which is cool. I also got to see the heartbeat and it was going to town at a kickin 160 bpm. Somehow seeing the baby on the ultrasound really makes it all real. So, i go back in 3 weeks and my dr. told me have the option to do CVS testing for early detection. along with it comes the risk of miscarriage and I'm just not sure it's worth it. I'll have to research it a bit more and see. he also said i can do the amnio at 16 weeks if I want. I don't have any genetic problems in my family so I'm really torn right now and my dr. said it's entirely up to me. His wife is a special ed teacher and was 36 and 38 when she had their daughters and both turned out fine. I also have a aunt who is now 39 who had a baby at 36, no problems and her mom was 42 when she had her. All that to say, i've got to do some more research and really decide what i want to find out and what the risks are and if it's worth it. any of your thoughts/advice would be welcome...

i hope all you other mommies to be are doing well today...

Hi ladies…sorry for disappearing, I’m still here, just really busy! Work has gone crazy and for some reason we have had a ton to do during the week as well. I've also experienced the 3rd trimester slow down... I'm starting to uncomfy at times and I just dont have the gitty up I did a month or so ago. Everything is going well still though… I start my once a week appts and internals next week… I cant believe it! I’ll be 35 weeks tomorrow and we still have everything to do. The room is painted though (minus a few touch-up), but we still need to order the crib and mattress, hang curtains, figure out a name, and decide on circumcision! I still haven’t had my shower yet either! Thats next weekend… I hope I’m still preggo!!! I did manage to drag DH around BRU the other week, so we at least have a registry! And whatever we don’t get at the shower, I will have to buy/order that ASAP if we still want it!

Congrats to Jas and MrsS!!! I hope you guys enjoy the wonderful trip you have started on! I certainly have. I was complaining the other day and DH told me I was going to miss it and I know he is 100% right!

Diver – Awesome you are going to be able to give vaginal a go! I hope it works and you don’t need an emergency C-section!

Tacori – Glad DH got to work on the nursery and that’s awesome you got the changing table put together all by yourself!!! I know I will be coming in last in the “finish the nursery” race! My belly button is still 10 feet below with no signs of popping. I still have the lovely “square belly” thanks to it!

Ella – You look fab and still cant believe you’ve got two beans in there!!!! I have gotten a few hemi’s the past month or so! Just go get some Preperation H wipes and cream/lotion. After shower, use the wipes, slap on some cream. When you go #2, use the wipes and reapply the cream. Do the same at bedtime. Mine have gone away after a few days both times. Increase your water and fiber too and try not to strain when you go #2… easier said than done I know!

BPA and bottles – DH and I decided to avoid. We both realize that we could be over reacting and doing it for nothing, but since the choice is as easy as picking one brand over another, we went for it. There have been suggestions that BPA is bad all the way back to 1999, so its not a new thing, just more research is coming out. I know NIH made a statement or comment at some convention. I’ve registered for the Born Free ones knowing they are expensive, but its all you can pick online (store is 45 min away). I refuse to do the drop-ins… too much waste for me throwing out the bags everytime, but that’s the hippie in me!

Amanda – I was on NuvaRing and had the same side effects… I turned into a rabbit, it was great! DH of course loved it too and was sad to see my drive disappear almost as quickly as it came since we conceived right away!

Kick counts – I don’t formally do them, but kiddo is constantly squirming in there. If I realize I haven’t felt him move in a while, I will eat/drink and pay attention. Doctor said if he constantly moves, its okay to do it the way I am. I actually drank a glass of OJ yesterday afternoon just because I hadn’t felt him and he is rolly polly when Im laying down… woke him right up!

MrsS – Awesome about the u/s and seeing the heartbeat!!!

Whew that was a lot of catching up! We took a tour of the hospital yesterday. Glad we did it! Got to ask lots of questions and we now know were to go! So I guess the baby can come now, although he still has no where to slee!

EDD 10.02.07

So glad everything is on track MrsS!!
36.gif
I always love hearing the heartbeat for the first time!!!

Mrs S, I am doing that first screening blood test. Then depending on what that finds, I will do the amnio. I actually was interested in the CVS but my doctor seemed to think the risk was a little higher than he''d like. From what I''ve read, the risk IS higher than amnio, but some studies say not that much.

So as much as I liked the idea of going with the CVS and breathing a sigh of relief early (as the results come in faster as well), I guess I will do the amnio.

njc, glad to hear that things are going well!

Ella, sorry to hear about your discomfort! I read that it happens but I don''t know much about it. Pregnancy is just OH SO sexy!
