What do you guys think of a hundred acre wood themed nursery? Pale walls, possibly greenish, with birch tree decals like this on one wall, with a very subtle classic Winnie the pooh theme, with framed pictures from the books? Is that too feminine? Bedding is a little harder, this is way too cartoony for me. this

Question. I can only IMAGINE how painful that was. Whoa. Do you think the outcome would have been different had you have been in an hospital setting? i.e. Do you think you would have accepted pain meds, or even opted for a Cesarean birth? I''m just curious.
In a hospital setting or with an OB, my guess is that Blenheim would have had a c-section. It would either have been scheduled b/c an OB would have done an u/s to confirm positon when it was in question, or it would have been required when the positon became clear. In most hospitals it is standard procedure to do sections for breech.
Generally speaking, with the policies of the hospitals in the area and with a doula to help me out, I think that I could have managed a med free hospital birth under different circumstances. I wouldn't have been able to if I had to labor in a bed because that was the hardest place for me to cope with the pain of contractions, but the local hospitals are pretty good about letting you move around, get into water, etc. For this particular birth, if I had planned a hospital birth or transfered before the pushing stage, I'm pretty sure that they would have wanted me on pitocin because my water was broken and the contractions weren't coming at any consistent intervals. From everything I've read and heard, it's practically impossible to have a pain med free birth on pit so I'm pretty sure that I would have taken pain meds in that case.Date: 4/7/2009 2:11:15 PM
