I haven''t got there yet - and will report back afterwards - but I''ve been having a nightmare on the nursing bra front. All the ones over here are covered in lace with seams across where your nipples are (ouch!) and no real support, so I''ve ended up ordering a load of the Sloggi normal bras that I usually wear with soft underwiring and that are semi-padded like a T-shirt bra (so you can''t see the breast pads through them and should give extra protection from leaks) and then a load of these adjuster things that you add to make them into nursing bras.Date: 5/10/2009 8:13:01 AM

Oh my Pandora, I''m hoping your friend is able to come to London to the one available u/s place and sending good thoughts that everything is okay. That really is a nightmare situation!
Courtney, thanks for posting the pic! I definitely think you will have you body back in no time! I have a feeling I''m going to feel similarly about bfing...not really enjoy it, but do it nonetheless. I give you major props for keeping with it, and I''m sure it will only get easier.
I''ve got 2 things to share/ask today...first, definitely don''t forget to wear your sunscreen if you go outside for any period of time, even if it is cloudy! I knew pregnancy made skin more likely to burn, but I didn''t really think too much about it. I''m Italian, and I''ve never really had a bad sunburn since I tan so easily although I do wear sunburn if I''m at the pool or beach. Well yesterday, I sat outside from 10-1:30 for a yard sale, and although it was cloudy 90% of the time, I came back in with my chest and arms red! It''s not painful, but it just took me by such surprise!
Second, I might have to ask this in the mommy thread, but when you''re in the hospital, after the night of delivery, do you sleep in both a nursing sleep bra AND some sort of nursing friendly pajamas? I know it''s ridiculously early for me to think about this, but we have a Motherhood Outlet here, and there are NO Motherhoods in the area we''re moving to soon. I plan on getting one nursing sleep bra and a nursing tank before my milk comes in...but I''m having trouble figuring out what I''ll actually want in the hospital. The sleep bras are to hold pads so you don''t leak, right? If so, I can''t imagine needing actual nursing pj''s, I think just wearing a regular teeshirt or tank top would be fine, right? Would nursing pj''s be more practical after you stop leaking and don''t really need the sleep bra anymore, or am I just confused...?
If you press with firm pressure a glass against it does the rash go white or stay red through the glass? If it goes white then it''s not serious, if it stays red when you look through the glass then call the doctor asap.Date: 5/10/2009 10:27:58 AM

quick ?....jon developed a reddidsh spot/rash on his forehead...could it be eczema and what to do or put on it? should i go or call doc?
Pandora-Sorry about your friend. I really hope that everything turns out well for her and this is all just due to wedding stress. I’m glad to hear Daisy is making progress though!
Peony-Glad to hear everything is well and the twins are doing well too! They look adorable.
Phoenix-Yay for a great appointment! Seriously, June 3rd is right around the corner so you’ll get to find out what you are having real soon! How exciting. Any guesses you have?
Courtney-I have never heard IRL of anyone that loves bfing. My old director went into graphic detail about how much she hated it and how painful it was for her in the beginning. I’m going to try to bf during those first few weeks but then switching over to pumping. I have to pump while at work so I want to get used to it early on.
Indy-You don’t have to be overweight to be at risk for GD. It’s probably because a lot of doctors, not most but a lot, will test early on in 2nd tri if they feel the need so that you can correct it way before 3rd tri. I would ask the doctor if they found a high level of sugar in your urine sample and that is why they want you to test. I would also call the insurance company and make sure it’s covered as some insurance companies will only cover the 1 hour and then the 3 hour if necessary (and the tests are expensive).
I wanted to agree with this - it''s been much more enjoyable recently, now that the nipple pain is gone and that he''s interacting more. He''ll pull off sometimes and give me a smile and then latch back on, which is just the sweetest thing. I feel a lot more close to him than I did, although I''ll admit that sometimes (like 3 am) I''m just emotionally checked out. Hopefully it''ll get better for you.Date: 5/10/2009 11:26:53 AM

Courtney I didn''t like BFing in the early weeks when it was so constant and when Hunter was still in his ''house plant'' mode of consciousness. Now I love it. He looks into my eyes and strokes my breast while he nurses and it makes me feel very close and conncected to him. So whether you feel like Jas and MrsS or like me, it will get better in a couple weeks!
Hmmm... It was at my first appointment, and I didn''t even give a urine sample. At that point they hadn''t taken my blood, either. I will definitely have to call tomorrow.Indy-You don’t have to be overweight to be at risk for GD.
