Mela, it''s Piper Jane!!! I AM SO EXCITED!

Delurking to say that I love the name Amber! Piper is my cousin''s daughter''s name as well and I love how uncommon it is. Congrats on a little girl!

Amber - I feel like it was SO worth the wait. Your dream has come true...Piper Jane is actually on her way!
36.gif
Isn''t life wonderful?

how great is the name piper jane!! Congrats

Sunkist- Forgot to respond to the hair color question: my doc said it was fine anytime, but if you can wait till the 2nd trimester to be safe, that''s probably better. I have highlighted my hair. I don''t think you should do all over color, as Sweet Pea said highlights are ok cause they don''t touch the scalp. Some people have issues with the smells, but I didn''t. Anyways, check with your doc, but most people I know have done it with no issues.

Yay, I finally got one right! Congrats Amber! I love the name too.

Indy, congrats on team blue!

Amber ~ I so love the name Piper! It's actually the name of our dog, but I love it way more for a little girl! It is such a sweet name. Love it with the mn Jane, too!

Sunkist ~ Thanks for posting the link for the Amy Coe bedding. I had not seen that set before! I know DH will like it better than the one I posted. Gray crib bedding sure is hard to find. I understand why it's untraditional for a nursery, but I think it can look so cute with the right accent colors.

I'm also struggling with a name for our little one now! We had two girl names picked out, zero boy names! We have a three-letter, one syllable last name. I tend to like one syllable boy names (Cole, Chase, Gage, etc...) We need a longer name with such a short last name.
33.gif
I am liking Nolan right now. Any opinions???

woohoo, I got it right Amber!!!!!! I think I''m on a roll! Congrats on joining team Pink...with all the team Blue news I was getting worried my boys won''t have enough girlfriends
2.gif

Thanks everyone for teh comments on the boys! It really is excitign to get to see them so often. I''m getting spoiled!!!. After the next u/s in 2 weeks, I start getting them every 4 weeks for growth rather than every 2 weeks. I think it''s going to drive me crazy, I''ve gotten used to the frequent visits! lol.

I had a question....I''m looking at the classes they offer at the hospital and pondering which ones to take.

They have:

- Childbirth classes (they give you a tour plus talk about general chilbirth sort of topics. It''s either one full day or 3 days for a few hours each day)
- Newborn care class (how to care for the LOs...I think this may be helpful to do for DH...it''s a 3-hour class)
- Breastfeeding class (is it worth doing this before the LOs are here?...is this with DH or by myself?)
- CPR/Safety for babies/toddlers (DH is certified, but I think I would like to learn).
Lastly...Boot camp for dads!...I think DH should do it
9.gif

Any thoughts??

Thanks!!

M~

YIPPEE! i'm back on the gender prediction train.. i was seriously starting to second guess my "talent"
3.gif
. CONGRATS amber and love love love piper jane!

i don't know who was asking about the yellow/grey combo.. but yes, my ultra color gifted husband originally picked that color combo for our little boy.. but i had my heart set on green/brown. and my uterus won :) however, i really do like that combo.. and even think it would be fun to add an accent of dark wood (to warm things up) or a pop of white... at any rate, i love the bedding you posted!

re: highlighting.. i also highlight my hair and (thank gawd) have an apt. tomorrow for some touch ups... i did it once in my first tri - i'm in my second tri now and will probably will get it done once more before baby arrives (ya know, so i can look super hot whilst pushing :P -- but my midwife said it's perfectly fine to have your hair highlighted (i didn't ask about an all over color tho). i typically would go every 8 weeks, but decided to drag it out to every 12 weeks so as not to 'over do' it JIC.

ugh, super duper busy today.. will catch up later!
ttfn.

Hey all. Just got back from my weekly dr visit- is it weird that I think I''m kind of going to miss going every week? All looks good, thankfully. My fluid levels are ok, or at least haven''t dropped since last week, so dr is no longer concerned or thinking we need to induce at this point.
4.gif
I REALLY didn''t want to be induced this early. I tested negative for the strep, so that''s good as well. Though I thought they couldn''t do the test before 35 weeks? They did mine at 34w4d or something. She said I''m closed but softening or effacing, which is good, but nothing happening anytime soon. BP good, weight gain on track.

Got another u/s to check the fluid- and the tech told me our little guy has hair.
23.gif
That''s cool, I think, but how WEIRD that they can tell that???? Science is amazing.

Other than that, I am just SO TIRED. Coma tired again like I was in first trimester. I still have a ton to do before he makes his appearance, but not sure it''s going to get done.

Preggo Confession of the Day: I had McDonald''s TWICE today. For breakfast and lunch.
3.gif
Yep, and I don''t even feel guilty about it! And it actually wasn''t b/c I was craving it or anything- both times I was in a hurry and it was the only thing I had time for. Sad, but that''s not to say that I didn''t enjoy it!

I think I''m going to make a list of all of the really bad foods that I normally avoid, and eat them all before I''m not preggo anymore and have no excuse. At this point, I''m cool with my weight gain (ask me afterwards though) and feel like I haven''t taken proper advantage of my "condition". So far on my list is:

chicken fried steak or chicken
spinach-artichoke dip at Houston''s

anyone else have a list? I need some ideas! I''ve got a month to get them all in.

Sabine- You out there? How are you doing lady?

ChinaCat

LOL on the missing the visits China - I had them booked with my doctors and found it really odd that I didn''t need to attend now she was born. I kind of missed the antenatal department...
20.gif

I also like McDonalds - in fact DH drove me there straight after we escaped from the hospital after she was born! I don''t crave any of the things I did when I was pg - in fact I actively avoid some of them!

Pandora- I know, something about the once a week visits being all about you, I guess. I usually hate going to the dr, but now I look forward to it. I don''t eat McD''s that often, but every once in awhile, it just hits the spot! Saw a pic of Daisy on the newborn thread, she is just too precious.

Hey guys, quick pop in for some help. My BFF is supposed to be 7 weeks pregnant this week. She went to the doc for her first ultrasound and there was no heartbeat yet and she was measuring a week behind. I know it''s not uncommon, but has this happened to anyone who got a good prognosis? I could use some prayers for her, if you don''t mind.

Amber
lots of sticky dusts to your friend. Maybe she ovulated late. Fingers crossed for good news.

Hey, guys! Quick question....when did you guys start to feel movements? I know I am so early, but I was laying down last night in bed and felt these flutters which I totally remember with my first. I was thinking maybe it is just gas, but didn't feel gassy at all. I was just sitting there trying to figure out if it is possible to feel those flutter so early? I am 10 weeks, 2 days today. I did read that you can feel movement earlier with your second because the uterus is stretched out, but I'm just not sure. Anyway, hope everyone is having a great day!

ahh, just did some more reading and they said you can usually feel movement earlier if you have a tilted uterus which I do. So exciting

Amber, sending prayers to your friend. This is exactly what happened to me, but not a good turnout
8.gif
. I hope she has a miracle, but most of the time when there is no heartbeat it is not going to make it. The baby could have stopped developing last week and that would be why she is measuring a week behind, but hopefully the dates were mixed up and they just can''t see the heartbeat yet. So sorry.

Thanks Steph and Qtie. I''m trying to not let her get too depressed, but also trying not to pump her up too much. I worry more because she''s been so invested in my pregnancy, and I don''t want her to hate me and herself because my girl is still cooking.
7.gif
She''s my best friend and i don''t want her to hurt.

Steph- yay for movement! I''ve been trying to "look" for it lately, but nothin'' yet :)

So, I am signed up for a gender ultrasound at 16w1d (next Friday!!) and I am so excited!
DH is totally supportive, however doesn''t understand why I don''t just wait 2 more weeks for the Dr. to do it.
Am I crazy for doing it at 16wks?
(Its $50, which I don''t find to be outrageous or anything. I end up paying more for the one the Dr. does since I''m still paying towards my deductible anyways.)
I told my dad, thinking he''d be excited, but he said the same thing, that I should just wait the 2 weeks (without being supportive like DH was).

Anyways, my other justification is that my Dr''s machine is as old as the hills, and this place will give me way better quality pics
2.gif

Did anyone else jump the gun and pay for an ultrasound or am I as "crazy" as my DH lovingly says I am?

Sweet Pea~
I am totally with you on going ahead and scheduling the ultrasound early. In fact, I was about to research places near me. Are you getting a 3D or 4D? The way my visits are set up, I wouldn't be able to find out at the doctor's office until 21 weeks, so I think it is worth the extra money to find out early! Oh and all the places around here are at least $99, so tell your hubby $50 is a deal
9.gif

Amber- Prayers outgoing for your friend.

Sweet Pea- Hmmm, I don''t think you''re "crazy" at all. I personally would have waited, b/c I was on the fence of finding out and wanted something to look forward to. But keep in mind that though they can usually tell at 16 weeks, it may be a bit early and they won''t be able to tell. That''s usually why they wait till 20 weeks. Though I got mine at 16 weeks (only cause DH was chomping at the bit, and I was certain they wouldn''t be able to tell that early) and of course, they could totally tell. We didn''t open our envelope that told us the gender though until about 18 or 19 weeks. That was the longest I could hold off DH.
3.gif
But good luck!!!! Any feelings either way?

Another quick one from me! My little guy is having a growth spurt and nursing constantly, so I have even less reading time these days then I did a week ago.

Blushing, I am so, so incredibly sorry for your loss. If you find yourself needing some extra support, I can get you my contact info.

Fiery- Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!

Amber- Yay for team PINK! I love the name Piper Jane.

Sunkist and Indy- Welcome to team BLUE! You're going to love it on this side- just watch out for the sneak pees during diaper changes!
2.gif

China- Oh, man, the spinach artichoke dip at Houston's is SO. GOOD.

Almost three weeks after Henry's birth, we're allllmost done with the nursery. I'll see if I can get photos soon. And to everyone else I missed, I'm sorry- I'm thinking about you all and hope you're enjoying the good parts of pregnancy!

Amber, I hope things work out for your friend! Congrats on team pink, and I love the name!

Indy, congrats on team blue! Are you thinking of any names yet?

China, I just had my GBS test today at 36 weeks.

Steph, I *think* I''ve heard that you can feel them sooner with your second! I''m no example, I didn''t start really feeling movement to close to 20 weeks.

Sweetpea, I personally would just wait, but that price isn''t too bad if you are really anxious!

Ebree, would LOVE to see pics of the finished nursery!

I''ve been here, but not saying much because I''ve been so bored out of my mind most days. But today I had my 36 week appointment and growth u/s....

Well, baby definitely IS measuring big. He is estimated to be 7 lbs 5 oz. already! I know they can be off, but that number definitely makes me a bit nervous. The dr. said I could definitely still have a perfectly normal, non-induced natural birth, but he also said that we need to do another u/s at 38 weeks to see how big he is at that point. He''s hoping that I will go into labor naturally before 39 weeks, otherwise he fears baby will be too big to birth vaginally. So if you could, please send me some "baby dropping" dust! I''m only a fingertip dilated, 0% effaced, and baby is still way high up. I have a feeling I won''t make progress unless he starts to drop.

Sabine- Dust for you! Remember what DD and others were saying, you totally CAN birth a big baby, don''t start thinking you can''t! I have a feeling you will go into labor before then anyways. I hear you on being bored- though I guess I''m really too busy to be bored. You are lucky you aren''t working, it''s getting so hard to work and be this preggo. How''s DH''s internship going?

Ebree- Hi mama!
35.gif
Would love to see pics of nursery when finished. That makes me feel better, since ours is not done and I am starting to think our little guy will get here before we finish.

Lol, I was hoping for more enablers!!! (Thanks Steph
3.gif
)

Sabine- ooh, lots of baby dropping dust headed your way. I hope you do go in to labor a bit early!

Ebree- can''t wait to see pics when you''re done. I haven''t been reading the mommy thread much lately, but I hope all is well with you and Henry!

Steph
I felt flutter here and there since a week or two ago. I know they say you can feel the baby earlier the second time. But I think 10 weeks is really early, so I am not sure.

sweet pea
Don''t think you are crazy for wanting the u/s, but like ChinaCat said, 16 weeks is a bit early and they may or may not be able to tell. If your dr. has an old u/s machine, you will probably get your "big" u/s done at a radiology clinic or similar b/c they need to measure a lot of things during that u/s and would need a good u/s machine.

Sabine
Don''t worry too much about the baby size. Your body will DO the job. Plus most of the time, the measurement are off.
Sending lots of baby dropping dust your way.

ChinaCat
It IS hard to work toward the end of the pregnancy. I worked up to two weeks before my EDD with M b/c I didn''t want to sit around at home for too long in case she decided to come late. When you starting your maternity leave?

_____________________

I have my 3rd dr appointment tomorrow. They''ll draw the blood for the 1st trimester screening. Then I will go to the perinatalogist next Tues for the NT scan. I think my dr. might do another u/s in the office tomorrow to check on the EDD one last time. At least that''s what he did the first pregnancy, so I am hoping.

Can''t wait to see everyone''s belly pic for BPF. I will wait til I have a bigger bump before I participate. I was telling the toddlers mommies that I have a noticeable bump already, but I really didn''t have as big of a bump as I thought/felt when I looked at the belly pic and I felt so silly for saying that I got a bump.

Sabine - Daisy was estimated at 6lbs 10oz at 35 weeks. They are supposed to put on half a pound a week so at 36 weeks she ''should'' have measured 7lbs 2oz at 36 weeks and 9lbs 2oz at 40 weeks...

Well, she was only 8lbs 3oz!

They can be really off on the weight estimation - and my hospital has state of the art ultrasound equipment. Even if they were correct, bebe will only be around the 9lb 5oz mark which isn''t HUGE... huge is the 10lb 8oz and 11lb 5oz elephants my sister had!

Sabine Try to stay positive! It is just sooo rare for a baby to truly be too big to birth vaginally. If it is the GD causing a larger baby, remember that it is mostly extra fat and fat is squishy anyways!
9.gif
The only part that really matters is the size of the head, and that doesn''t get *that* much bigger with extra pounds. My fingers are crossed that it will all work out and you will have a v-birth, but not matter what, in a few weeks this time will all be a bleary memory as you hold your baby in your arms!
