applequeen, I completely hear you. You and I will just be miserable together I think - I am around 8 weeks, will get a real due date tomorrow. I am so sorry that yours is even worse than mine. Do twins run in your family? Do you think there might be two in there?
MonkeyPie Thanks :) I am 8 weeks 3 days so we''re very close.... I don'' t think twins run in my family. My sister and I are identical and I thiink those are usually just a fluke :) We do know that we are only having 1 based on the ultrasound we had a 6 weeks. I can only imagine how my mother must have felt. I hope you start feeling better soon...have you tried Seabands? I''ve had some success with them but the problem is that since no one knows I''m pregnant I can only wear them at home (and for a short period of time since they make my wrists sore).

Update on the m/s
Thanks to everyone

The good news is that although I''m still not feeling great I am feeling quite a bit better this morning.
1.gif
What I mean by this is that I could get out of bed and made it to work on time...and I didn''t throw up.

I hadn''t been taking my allergy medicine (Zyrtec) since I found out I was pregnant and I think that sinus drainage may have been contributing to the morning sickness (I''ve gotten sick from it in the past). Last night I broke down and took it ..... and I really think it helped. So far today I''m feeling queasy but not sick... which means I can function somewhat normally at work. I have a big meeting at 11 today and I really need to be on my game...I''ve been waiting months for this meeting so I''m thrilled to feel capable for the first time in weeks.

My Dr. told me that it was probably OK to take the Zyrtec but I was still very hesitant to take anything especially during the first trimester. Now that it seems to have helped I''m really torn about whether or not to keep taking it every day.... anyone else taking it?

...although I''m no where close to the point where I''ll be able to feel the baby moving I''d be lying if I didn''t admit that it''s one of the parts of pregnancy that freaks me out the most...it always has. I''m hoping it''ll just be a progression sort of thing and when it actually happens it won''t freak me out.

And the page thing....yeah that drives me crazy. I usually just click on the next to last page just to avoid it.

great stroller deal if anyone is interested (they''re going fast though!)

I wish they would put up the duo easywalker!

Glad you felt somewhat better this morning, applequeen! I have terrible allergies and asthma and my allergist and OB both say that zyrtec and clariten are okay during pregnancy. I usually take allegra and he told me to stop allegra while pregnant and nursing. I would def. take it if you think it is helping!!

mandarine~You look terrific!!

Mandarine, I look forward to your belly shot every Friday - you just have the cutest bump ever!

applequeen, I''m so glad you feel better today! I noticed I felt a lot worse when I had bad drainage, so yesterday I was fine, but today? Back to yuck. Darn it.

I had my first midwife appointment today, I am exactly 8 weeks, and all systems go! In a month, at 12 weeks, I get to hear the heartbeat and I am SO excited. I asked about the meds for morning sickness, but she wants me to give it a chance to get better first, so she suggested B6 to help. Has anyone taken B6? Has it helped you with your m/s?

I actually lost two pounds from my last appointment. Wow, it shows that I hate to eat now.

Mandarine you have the cutest belly!

That is a good deal on a stroller but I have never heard of that brand...anyone else?

apple hope you feel better soon.

mp i have heard B6 does help for nausea. you can google it and read more, i don''t recall details but did read some people liked it.

so yesterday work was grueling, i had 9 meetings/conf calls during the day starting at 8am. then we went to dinner for my mom''s bday. i was so exhausted when i got home...and i had a sore throat.
8.gif
so i took a prenatal (i am so spotty about taking them) and went to bed. today i feel better but still a bit tired. we leave for Spain tomorrow at 6:30am!
23.gif
and i really don''t want to be sick on our 12 day trip. i am hoping today will be more mellow (so far so good) as i am just wrapping things up for when i am out.

Phoenix
Glad you are learning and getting lots of info from the birthing class.
Sorry about your friend situation. I don’t have any good friends either. I am not really close to people I was friend with growing up/while in school, mainly b/c we are in different stages in life. Most of them are still single and partying, and I am not just in that type of scene anymore. I have friends through work and a few couple friends who we hang out with, but no one that I can really rely on. DH is really my best friend. So I know how you feel.
Anchor
Hope you get used to the baby kicks. DH was kind of freaks out by the baby kicks.
Yay for good dr appointment. My Ob never measured my belly with the last pregnancy, but I think I was way bigger than 40cm before I gave birth.
Mandy
Yeah I love having friends to be pregnant with. SIL, DH’s cousin and two of our friends were pregnant when I was pregnant last time. So it felt a little weird to be the only one pregnant this time, but now I have a pregnancy buddy IRL.
You are all belly. Your belly is such a nice round shape.
Apple
Glad you feel better today. I have no personal experiences taking Zyrtec, but I’ve read about other preggos taking them. If it’s helping and your Ob says it’s safe, then I would just take it.
MP
Hope your m/s get better soon. Sounds like your appt with your middie went well.
Mara
Try to rest up a little bit. It’s no fun to be sick while pregnant. Have a good time in Spain.
Where’s all the belly pics??? I forgot to bring my camera to work. Will have to get one when I get home later.

Argh, the phantom page 730 keeps getting me!

Mandarine, you really are the cutest preggo. I would never guess you were carrying twins!

Mara, oh no, I hope the sore throat is nothing! Many times they just go away . . .

MonkeyPie, maybe you could call your GP for a second opinion on the nausea medication? My doctor''s office asked, "Is it bad enough that you would like some medication?" to which I emphatically replied, "YES! . . . as long as it''s safe . . . ." They assured me that it was. I know how much life sucked when I had the M/S and I can''t imagine how I would have gotten through that month without the medication (as it will probably continue to get worse for a few weeks before it peaks).

I just went on this annoying baby shower gift buying odyssey. I had a total pregnancy brain moment and realized yesterday I have a shower to go to this weekend, so there was no time to order a gift online. So I drove out to the burbs to go to Babies R Us, but she registered online and even though the registry says the items are in store, they aren''t. So I go home, get the invitation, write down the address for this other boutique place she''s registered at in the burbs in a totally different direction. When I get there, no, there''s no store, so I call DH who calls them (sweet man helps me with my phone phobia) and finds out where they are, and I figure out how to get there even though it''s a new road that my GPS doesn''t register, and when I arrive at the real location they are having a Going Out of Business Store Clearance sale, and there are probably 12 items for sale in the whole store that weren''t piles of hangers at 10 for $1. No joke. I considered just leaving since there was a little line, but I really didn''t want to have to show up at the shower and be that girl who is like, "Sorry I didn''t get your gift in time! It will be arriving in 8-12 business days!" Serendipitously, they actually had 2 items on her list that totaled about what I wanted to spend, so I got them.

Now I''m worried about my Babies R Us registry. Hopefully people aren''t having trouble with it. At least I didn''t register at this other place!

She told me that if it got worse, I could call and she would get me the meds. If it stays the same as it is now, I will still call, but the past two days I ate Activia and V8 and it REALLY seems to be helping with the bloat and grossness. Plus I plan to pick up some Preggy Pops and B6 this weekend and see what that will do. If I can avoid the meds, I will, but if it fails, at least I know I still have an option!

That was one crazy trip for the baby registry! I''m glad you finally found something. I registered on a whim at Babies R Us and now I wonder if I should just do it someplace else. None of my family is internet-savvy!

i must have a short memory for pain/uncomfortableness b/c i *remember* that MS was not fun, but it does seem like a distant memory now (31 weeks). small meals, and food RIGHT when i got up were the trick. no food = upset/hungover tummy. bleh.

i''m hoping i have a short memory for labor as well... and after our l&d class on monday i''m thiiiiinnnkkkkiiiinnngggg about no epi. i was really clueless to the various ''stages'' of labor until she went into detail (i don''t know why i thought the whole thing was pushing) ... but i feel like i can handle any amount pain if i know it has an end point, ya know? plus i like the idea of being able to walk around/switch positions - push in a sitting position (let gravity do it''s thang) - and with an epi you are kinda ''tied'' to the bed. who knows until the time comes, but i''m keeping an open mind about the whole thing. maybe i''ll get the drug that makes you ''not care'' instead of the full blown epi.

hello!

- i''ve been a bit mia this week... crazzzyyy work week, so i''m going to forget a lot of what has been going on with my peeps this week - please forgive.
2.gif

so for a me-centric post: the in-laws are bringing our crib up tomorrow!! i''ll post pictures monday!

and a help question..... so, we didn''t tell anyone we found out what we were having, which is great... i love that dh and i have this little secret... however, now i''m stumped as to what i need to have on hand (clothes/layette) before we bring the nugget home from the hospital. if anyone could chime in on onsie/rompers/sleepers etc - i''d like to start shopping for these so our little baby isn''t dragged to gap in a diaper
37.gif

i''m thinking about just getting the 0-3 month (oct, nov, dec) stuff. thoughts.

i''ll take another klassy picture of myself in the bathroom here shortly... i think i''ve gotten bigger since last week.

have fun on your trip mara.

Mandy--
What a cute belly and love your dress
30.gif

Bummer about the infection, but glad to hear that bebes are ok.

Monkeypie - Glad you had a good appointment today. I''ve considered trying the B6 supplement but haven''t yet... for no other reason than I just didn''t feel like stopping at the store to buy any. I hope it works for you... I''ve read a lot of articles that say that it does and that it is safe (I think people have been taking it for m/s since the 40s). I''d probably try that for a few days and if it doesn''t work call for the medicine. I think that just knowing the medicine was a possibility would be helpful...just having the hope that there is something out there you can try.

Mara - Hope you are feeling better and have a great trip.

Mandarine - You are so lucky to have never gotten sick..especially with the twins...you look great by the way.
1.gif

Burk- Thanks for the input about the allergy medicine.

pheonixgirl - Glad you were able to find a shower gift. I waited until the day of the shower to buy a gift for a friend (wasn''t a close friend and I didn''t know until the last minute that she was even registered anywhere). Our closest BRU is over an hour away so I just went ahead and ordered the gift online and then used the online picture to make a printout that I put in a card. They were from out of town anyway and I think they actually didn''t mind that I had the gift shipped to their house. It wasn''t a perfect solution but was the best I could come up with at the last minute.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I''m considering breaking the news to my parents this weekend since it has become very apparent that the next month is crazy for them and there is no good time to tell them. I''m sure when the shock wears off they''ll be happy but to say they will be surprised in an understatement...they really have no clue that a baby is in our near future.

otay.. belly pic.
31 weeks.
viz, over and out ;)

apple, that's a good idea about the card. Wish I had thought of that!

QT, thanks for the encouragement! I've definitely been more emotional than usual lately. Luckily DH came through with some plans for tonight . . . he managed to invite a couple to do something and wind up with us being invited over their place instead.

Vizla, I know what you mean about the M/S pain being a distant memory. I guess that's how it goes. On our honeymoon we took this boat ride on a double-decker catamaran from St. Lucia to Martinique, and it made me so sick that I swore I wouldn't get back on the boat for the ride home. I was planning to hire a helicopter, anything but getting back on that boat! But then once I was on dry land I forgot how awful I felt . . . Good thing we forget all the pain and indignities of pregnancy or else the human race would be doomed!

viz...very cute belly shot.

thx for the trip well wishes. sore throat is mostly gone, thankfully! we''re all packed and ready to go..whew. i feel like we are moving our entire house in 2 suitcases...hahaa. hope all the preggos do well... i can''t wait to see updates in 2 weeks when we get back. hopefully the nugget will like chocolate and churros cuz i plan to eat a lot!

No update from China yet???? Hope she and lo are doing well!

Hi ladies!!!!

Just a quick check-in, little guy is finally sleeping for a minute, and I have just enough time to say hi and then go grab a shower.

Oliver James Ryan A______________ was born Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 12:37 pm. Weighed 6 lb 8 oz, 19 3/4 inches long.

Birth was um, interesting. Not as bad as I thought in some ways, and worse in others. I will definitely be back to write it out for you guys (and me, so I don''t forget!) when I have some free time. But I was induced and it definitely was not the horror that I anticipated. Or at least it was not terrible b/c I was induced, any pain or discomfort was just general birth stuffs.

Miss you all terribly, can''t wait to go back and catch up on everyone. Hope you''re all doing well.

xoxo

Congratulations China!!!

Yes, I think LittleLysser is next!

(I can''t believe how much time is passing. I remember when I was way down the list!)

China!! Congrats!!! I love the name, just wonderful.

Can''t wait to hear about your birth story!

Littlelysser: you''re neeeeeeeext!!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

I am so happy for you CHina!!! Love the name and can''t wait for pictures!

Yup, I''m next. Holy Cow...how did this happen?

I''m so ready to be done being pregnant and meet this little dude! My feet are so freaking swollen I''ve taken to calling them my monster feet. But blood pressure is good, no signs of pre-E, amniotic fluid levels are good, placenta is good...so things here are going well.

38 weeks today. Had a U/S on Thursday - and the baby is measuring 7 lbs 15 oz...So he''s a big little dude! I was 75% effaced and 1 cm dilated at my appointment on Thursday...and the week before I was just 50 % effaced and not dilated at all...so hopefully things are happening!

I took a few pics of the nursery, which I''ll attach to a few pics. My mom painted the dinosaurs on the wall, and I love them.
