Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

yeah so cal!!! congrats! can''t wait to see pictures!!!!

back from my apt.... and nada, zilch, zero - not dilated not anything. i was joking to my sister that the baby is using my uterus as a snuggie. he''s super active and was moving all around when the m/w was checking his position. she said "we like active babies around here". i, of course, read into that statement as ''this little boy is never going to let me sleep again'' :) tee hee.

ok, off to be productive today.....

has anyone heard from DrK? just wondering how she''s doing.

later ladies!

Oohh just to share this with you all that want to take newborn photos:

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5859882

I am buying a couple things from her before the baby comes!

Amber - I''m sorry to hear that your MIL is so pushy about being in the delivery room. My ILs are the last people I would want there... Something I wondered while planning my wedding and I still haven''t found an answer to is how people can be so pushy about things they have no say in. Who you want in the delivery room with you is your business and yours alone, it doesn''t matter what your SIL did. I hope your ILs can respect your wishes.

Ebree - Henry is so adorable!

So Cal - Congrats!

Thank you for sharing your birth story.

Re: Nesting and nursery... We were on a roll a couple of weeks ago, but we lost some steam... With all the overtime DH''s been putting in, my online classes started last week, the funeral, etc., we''ve been pretty tired! Plus we''ve both been nursing a bit of a cold...
14.gif

28 weeks for me today, nothing much to report. The LO is kicking up a storm in there lately, I''m taking it as a good sign.

Socal-Sorry I missed your post! Congratulations and welcome Eli

Thanks for the baby posing advice, MP. Until our friend arrives we''ll just have to position her in awful ways for my dad to photograph. I''m going with "The Thinker" and maybe the Heisman. Little Baby Al Bundy. Oooh, Maybe a muscle-man pose.
1.gif
Kidding! (or am I?)

Viz: look at you with your cervix closed up tight. Yowza! Are you going to try any "remedies" to try to get labor started naturally? You know all the old wives tales...

As for me: We had our three hour baby care class last night. First of all, GOD it was boring. I also think the instructor hates men. She must have mentioned us wives/mothers "reminding dad to not shake the baby" about three times. "I know you''ll feel frustrated, but try to not shake the baby." What the hell?? Why did she feel the need to tell us to not shake the baby? Isn''t that common knowledge? Then she would go on to say how all men are super playful with newborns and tend to throw them around.
20.gif
A couple next to us asked the most ridiculous questions: "So all babies wear are onesies and diapers?" "What about cats, can we let the cat play with the baby? She''s hypoallergenic." We watched a movie from like, 1981 that was full of things that aren''t done now- covering newborns in tons of blankets, bathing the babies with the head flopping back and forth (groan), shaking a loud ass rattle in a sleeping infant''s face. It was horrible.

Oh that is SO going to be used.

tee hee amber... yeah, i''m a real champ here aren''t i?
3.gif
i just don''t think baby is ready to make an entrance. which is fine.... i probably won''t try any old wives tales until week 40.. then all bets are off! oh, re: your inlaws... ummmm, yeah... i would lose my mind if my MIL was in the delivery room... or even suggested that she should be
6.gif
6.gif
aye ya yah...... i was talking to my friend the other day about the type of mother in laws we have to be to our kids....

the best kind ever!

so, i just take everything my MIL does and put it in my "i''ll try my hardest not to do this to my child''s spouse" book. anyhoo, i feel your pain... it''s no fun to coordinate them on top of everything else.

MP - i didn''t know you were a photographer.. what kind of photography do you specialize in??

Congratulations, socal!

Amber, dreamer and and anchor- Thank you so much! The photo shoot was a lot of fun, and the picture lot (we had several different poses, which was amazing considering he only cried once!) was fantastic. A good photographer is key.

Amber- Three weeks should still be pretty posable (and sleepy). I LOVE the tutu idea! So cute.

lizzard- Monkeypie is absolutely correct. We brought our son to the photographer's house, and he did well there too, but home can be best because you've got all the familiar smells and baby supplies!

It''s mostly a hobby, but I do paid work, as well. I''ve been trying to find a newborn to practice those fun shots on, but since mine is coming, that works just as well lol.

Congratulations, socalgirl!

Hey gals! Miss Tayva has H1N1 so I''ve been so busy with her that I haven''t had time to keep up much at all.
7.gif

Just wanted to pop in and say congrats so cal!

And re: newborn pics, we had the photographer come to our house and it was great. We''ve just continued to do that since for all of her pics because it''s way more convenient to change a toddler in and out of clothes and keep her occupied while the photographer changes backgrounds if you''re at your own house!

Awww, Burk, poor Tayva!! Take care of her and yourself!

i love all the photos so cute... the photographer we want to use has similar style to the photos posted. she does super cute things with the kiddies and sheepskin and baskets and things like that. now we just have to find a super cute little hat for him to wear, or have my mom make one. one of the photos on this gal''s website has a freakin'' cute knitted stripped hat with a ball on the end and he''s in a basket. i just love the positions these poor kids have to be in...lol.

congrats so cal!! glad to hear after the inducement worry it was not too bad in the end (relatively!!).

i have been craving ice cream and sundaes something horrible in the last week. i assume i need more calcium. i am also eating like slices of sharp cheddar as snacks. interesting.

and i finally bit the bullet and used our amex points to buy a crazy amt of PB kids gift cards. so we''re def getting close...now just have to order!

sounds like everyone is hanging in... this week is crazy busy at work so i am very distracted. nothing real exciting to report hehe.

awww burk, poor tayva. are you worried?? stay healthy!!!

btw...speaking of H1N1 i saw on the news last nite that CA just got it''s first round of vaccines for pregnant women, kids and another group of people i can''t remember. they will supposedly get a whole lot more in the next 1-2 weeks and be stocked by end of october. so i imagine we''ll start to see more people being vaccinated, i am interested in hearing from any preggos who do it. my jury is still out but i have heard of so many more cases in the last few weeks.

mara- i''ve seen those stripped hats on etsy... let me go see if i can find you a link

it''s sold out but here''s the link. i''m sure you could still order it.

Amber, you''re cracking me up again. Why can''t those classes be better?

Burk, so sorry for Tayva! Hope she''s doing ok!

Argh, menstrual-like cramps were bad today, and now my front/uterus/pelvis area hurts too. It''s like when I''m upright I swear I can feel this radiating pain around my cervix. But there''s still nothing that''s obviously a contraction. My substitute had to leave the country for a funeral today and asked me if I could "hang in there" until he gets back. Um . . . .

Swimmer - sorry I didn''t respond for so long, but great news on the latest ultrasound! Can''t wait to see photos from your next one...

Vizla - Hope your little boy decides to make his entrance some time before you hit 40 weeks! Thanks for asking about me.

So I saw my regular OB yesterday. She did a swab to rule out bacterial vaginosis and had me give a midstream urine to double-check no UTI. I begged her to have a peek with the ultrasound to look at my cervix, and when she couldn''t get a good shot (told me my bladder wasn''t full enough), she sent me off to the radiology clinic to have a proper cervical check (transvaginal) done. They ended up doing the full anatomy scan while I was there - guess it was a slow morning? DH was in Vegas on business, so he missed it, but since their policy is to keep friends/family/DHs outside of the scan room till they''re all done, and then bring them in for a brief view, it''s probably not so tragic. Everything checked out well, baby''s growing on track. 240g at 18w4d. Then the doc came in for the cervical check and to see if he could get the kid to cooperate for a better look at the heart. It had persistently stayed spine facing up while the tech did all the measurements, so he hadn''t been able to get great views, despite sending me to the bathroom twice, and having me flip from side to side in an effort to make the kid turn over. It behaved for the radiologist though, who then measured my cervix at 5cm. I couldn''t believe it, since the damn contractions just keep on coming. Then at the very end he asked if I wanted to know the sex, and confirmed what I''d hoped (and though from previous peeks at work with the ultrasound): GIRL! It''s a good thing, cause DH and I have no boy names. None. I spilled the beans to my mother after DH had told me he wasn''t sure we should tell (he''s worried we''ll end up with a ton of pink stuff that we don''t want). Oops.

I''m just supposed to go for weekly cervical U/S from here on out. Fine by me!

Drk
Glad to hear your cervix is still nice and long and the baby is doing well. Congrats on your baby girl.

Phoenix
Hang in there. Did you ever check with your dr about those cramps?

H1N1 vaccine
I don''t think I''ll be getting vaccinated. My OB hasn''t mention anything about it. But I really don''t think the virus is as bad as it is being said. But we are getting it for Meena. She is trying to get over something. Her fever was 104 and we took her to ER b/c we couldn''t get it to go down and it was 4am. The ER dr said it''s just a cold. Her pedi isn''t sure if it''s a cold since her throat looked fine and she doesn''t have other symptoms. So I want her to get the vaccine just in case.

omg those are so cute, thanks jcrow! my mom is a crazy knitter (i already have like 4 blankets she made for me and she is working on sweaters and pants) so i will put in an order with her for a hat! hehe. she will love that it will be in a photo shoot.

drk, glad to hear from you! i confess i am not that great with all the technical body stuff, but i gather that your cervix looked good and YAY for a girl!! i hear you on names, we are having a tough time with a boy. it's funny because you think you are not that anal about names but then when it's for your kid suddenly it's like nope nope nope nope nope.

pg... ugh on the cramps and boo on your substitute...you're like THANKS buddy. hang in there!

i just mowed through a double scoop ice cream sundae...yep. calcium.

ETA....omg is this not the cutest photo EVER EVER EVER?

drk, just popping in to say congratulations on TEAM PINK!!!! Girls are wonderful!! So excited for you. And I''m impressed by your cervical length. I had several LEEPs many years ago and was always concerned about my cervix throughout both of my pregnancies. Luckily I didn''t have any issues but I don''t think it was ever as long as 5cm so you''re in really good shape. Great news all around!

DrK--

on team pink and the cervical measurement.

Love that photo Mara.. Loving all the newborn pics.

Did anyone see The Doctor''s today?? Those US pics were soooo amazing. Dr. Phil''s son''s wife is expecting and so are her sisters. They are triplets!! Looks like each sister is carrying a singleton. The odds were that one of them would be carrying triplets.

Those ultrasounds were sooooo amazing. I never saw anything with mine, they looked so blurry. I could barely make out anything... Love the new technology.

Mara good luck on the names. Dana and I had a hard time deciding on DS''s name.

With DD he and I were on the same page...

We gave family names for the middle name.

One name I could have gone with was Crawford, but had used it for DD.

I don''t love that I was named Alice and was never called that since birth. They named me after my grandmother, and even she didn''t go by it.

Just saying...

H1N1: I've done a fair amount of research and discussed with my doctor, whom I trust implilcitly, and I see no reason not to get the H1N1 vaccination. I had my regular flu short at my 16 wk appt. and will call my doctor to come in and get the H1N1 vaccine as soon as she recieves her supply.

I've been very sleepy the last few days, came home from work today and took a nap. Went shopping yesterday, bought a few more maternity items, including a darling sweater from Ross for something like $12. My co-worker stopped me this morning to let me know she has more clothes headed my way, she just needs to pull them out of storage. Hoping to round out my wardrobe without having to shop too much more, at least not for a while.

I scheduled my 20 week ultrasound today. It's less than three weeks away, wow is time flying.

ETA: Congratulations, Kate, for things being good and a little girl.

Thanks for the girl congrats! I always wanted my oldest child to be a girl (like I was), and now I don''t have to worry about getting pee in my face when changing diapers. I just hope I won''t meet her for at least another 13 weeks.

Phoenix - those cramps sound sucky! Hope they either stop or turn into the real thing soon.

Mara - I always knew we''d be anal with names. Have to find something that works in German and English, and having lived with a long, weirdly-spelled name with many possible short forms my entire life, I want to give my kids something easy to spell and short. Don''t want any short forms to be possible. There are a ton of girl names that I love, but DH has his heart set on one that''s pretty darn good too. As long as I get the main vote on the middle name, I''ll go with his preference. I hope we think the name fits when she''s born.

So tired...just a quick drive by!

Qti - I''m not getting the swine shot either. I work form home and DH works with just one other person...we live in FL so we''re not really in confined spaces much and our exposure is truly just minimal. I never get the regular flu shot either though...

Mara - That picture is adorable!!!. You have no idea how hard it''s been to come up with any names we sort of "agree" on. It''s so hard. None of the names I love he likes and viceversa. I love Matias, Marcos, Lucas, Mateo, etc...and he loves Nicholas, Thomas, Richard, Robert, etc. Alexander and Lucas are the names we don''t disagree on too much. I love Lucas...and actually love Alexander too...just have a hard time with it since Alexander is very close to DH''s name and I wanted to make sure one kid didn''t feel more "special" because he got daddy''s name. It''s not really his name, and nobody calls him "Alex"...so we decided it was fine. It''s so hard though. Now if we had a girl that would have been easy! Gabriella for sure :)

Re: newborn pics. My photographer will be doing this for the twins and mentioned they have to be done quickly. Now, is that a couple of weeks old? 3 weeks? I have no idea.

SoCal - Not sure if I already congratulated you, but CONGRATS!!!!.

Drk - Yayy for a girl!!! I am so glad everything is looking good!

Phoenix - sorry about the cramps!!! hope you''re getting closer!!

Natalina - thinking of you!!

**

Ok, off to bed, hoping to get some sleep tonight (a girl can hope right?)

I''ve been having bad leg cramps....not like sudden pains...more like they are constantly being squeezed -- I think it''s from water retention??. My feet are huge too and so sore!!!
14.gif
. I''m also getting some back pain and the babies kicks on the cervix are getting so painful!. I wonder if they''re planning to make an entrance sooner?.

Hi Everybody!!!

DrK: Congrats on bringing in some pink to our little world here!

Burk: Sorry to hear about the H1N1 in your household.

Had a DA today. Went really well. Thought I would be having the GBS today but the doctor said she was going to wait until next appointment as the test is only good for 5 weeks (I''m 34 weeks 6 days today). She said she''d rather err on the side of caution and wait.

I lost a pound which is a good thing because it showed her I was following the diabetic diet they wanted me to be on. I''m such a good little patient.

I received the regular flu shot today also---and supposedly they are getting the Swine Flu one in next week or around my 37 week appointment so I will be getting that also. I was still up in the air about it---but my Dr is highly recommending it and I trust their judgement and I''ve been looking into it a bit more than before.

I am measuring back on target (Last week I was measuring a week ahead). And Evan''s heartbeat was 140-155.

We had the baby shower on Sunday--lots of fun. I swear pictures of the nursery/baby shower will be coming soon. I didn''t receive a lot from the registry so I''ve been slowly picking up items since Sunday. I am having another baby shower at work so I''m hoping I get a few more things off the registry. But either way--I''m so thankful that people want to celebrate with us!

DrK! congrats on the girl!! hooray for little girls!! and hooray that things are right where they should be (aside from the contractions) - which, admittedly, would be very disconcerting for anyone! i was raised by a single mom and have an older sister - who has 2 girls - so i feel like i *know* what to do with girls. there was a little twinge in my stomach when i found out we were having a boy. i don't know a THING about boys! DH keeps reassuring me that he, in fact, knows about 'boy things'
3.gif
but there is something about mother's and daughters that is so sweet and unspoken. anyhoo.... sorry, i tend to ramble on... congratulations again!

burk - ugh so sorry about the flu! what is your dr. recommending you do - are you on tamiflu?

QT - when do you go back to the doc to check out the gender of your LO? it's coming up isn't it?

PG - would what you are having be considered 'lightning'? i've been kinda waiting for this as it's supposed to mean the baby dropped into the birth canal, right? mine is still high and tight
7.gif

mara - i had an awful awful craving for cheese and ice cream most of my third tri. i would say it's the ONE thing i 'craved' while PG. and yeah, i just chalked it up to needing more calcium and went with it :) i think i exhausted most of the local ice cream shops around town.... luckily, the craving has tapered off in the past month or so.... i was afraid my baby was going to come out with a DQ swirl on top of his head ;) actually, most of my eating has tapered off... ugh, no room at the inn.

MP - fun!! i'm a stylist and product photographer - so while i work with inanimate objects all day long, i'm sooo looking forward to tackling some newborn shots as well.
3.gif
they're basically inanimate objects that young anyway, right?

mandy - hope you were able to get some rest last night. last time i was at my docs office, unprovoked, my midwife says something to the effect of .... i hope you are not sleeping on your back. which i have been b/c it's the only way i can get comfortable these days.... so last night i was so freaked out about rolling over on my back that i got jack squat for sleep :P - good thing today wasn't a hair washing day
3.gif

nothing really to report here. just trucking along until baby comes, or i'm finished with work.... hmmmmm wonder what is going to come first ;)

later ladies!

oh, i'm sooooo needing a nat update ;)

ETA - the strep B test is so not a big deal - for those that are worried about it.. in fact, i did my test myself... and was told as long as you get the swab anywhere near the areas you're fine... anyhoo.. it was nothing to stress over :) and i didn't really think the internal check was painful either.... i would say it bordered on uncomfortable but it was nothing.... so nothing to be worried about there either ladies ;)

drk, yay for Team Pink!

Burk, I hope your little lady feels better soon - poor thing. I think my only worry is about having the baby in April and she gets the H1N1 right away. That freaks me out. Otherwise I am not getting that vaccine myself.

Re: newborn pics. My photographer will be doing this for the twins and mentioned they have to be done quickly. Now, is that a couple of weeks old? 3 weeks? I have no idea.

Mandarine, usually they recommend within the first 10-12 days, since after that the babies tend to be more awake and less flexible for those "feet touching their face" shots.

drk - Congrats on Team Pink! We need more girls over here!

Re: H1N1... I decided to not get the shot. Introducing fragments of the virus into my system, even if they are dead, is not something I''m comfortable doing while pregnant.
