Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

oh i love nesting. and NO viz that doesn't include cleaning, i sub that out too, cleaning is not nesting in my definition hehe. i have been mentally trying to plan the nursery for a while. amber it cracks me up that you say you just toss things in the room and shut the door. i love walking by the nugget's room and looking into it and daydreaming about what else i can do to it. of course nothing has really happened yet since i can't make a decision on furniture hahaa. i also am trying to get other stuff done in the house like finishing hanging things, and getting wine glass shelving up in the kitchen etc. things that i know we will NEVER do after the kid comes. oh and that blasted dining set decision.

and mand i could totally get away with so much more if i was growing TWO.

there was a funny joke i heard somewhere once so i used it on greg in the beginning when i was SOOO always tired. i was extra tired until about 18-19 weeks actually, the '2nd trimester honeymoon' period has only been the last 3 weeks for me! he would come home from work and be complaining about how much was going on and how busy he was and how TIRED, and i was like 'oh honey what did you do today?' and he would list out all the stuff, and i said 'oh guess what i did? i grew a LUNG'...he was always like HA HA funny.
9.gif
i love that one, everyone in their first tri should use it!

re bending over, i do this funky clumsy squat thing which is REALLY charming. one of my friends towards the end said that if she dropped something she'd just shrug, leave it there and walk away. her husband was always like wtf is this hahaa.

Hey, girls....quick drive by. I have been soooo tired today! I did get out for a nice 40 min. walk this morning in the neighborhood, but after that I have been lazy, lazy today! I think it was from my productive weekend. We picked up the crib, put together the bookcase, and organized the garage. I am in full nesting mode! Now we just have to move Andrew''s room over and then I can start the nursery. I thought I was going to just use the bedding I had, but now I love a cute set at PBK and it''s on sale, so I may order it. I am 23 weeks now....each week I feel better and better mentally about the baby. Only have had cramps off and on a few times in the last few weeks, so I hope I''m in the clear. I can''t wait until the 3rd trimester gets here, I will feel tons better. Hope everyone is having a good day...I''m off to try a new recipe, pasta carbonara. I''m sure Adam is going to be like, great more pasta! Oh well, at least I''m changing up the sauce!!

Amber, you crack me up! Don''t let silly strangers/acquaintances get you down! Have you thought about getting some longer shirts? I''ve definitely outgrown about half (or more?) of my shirts, so I just wear the really long ones. I think that makes me look less gigantic.

Natalina, hope things pick up soon! It sounds like you are really close!

Re: nesting, I think I am too much of a long-range planner to really be overcome by the bug. So everything has been done ahead of schedule and I haven''t had to freak out about too much. Plus I have cleaners like Mara (they make life so much better!).

I''m really slowing down. Just a week or two ago I was still working out some and walking a couple of miles here and there. Now I am a blob who never does anything unnecessary. Today I told my students, "Please come up to my desk if you have a question so I don''t have to lug my gargantuan self all around the room." DH suggested we walk 5 blocks to pick up our takeout the other night, and I was like, are you kidding??? Me walk 5 blocks?

I''m having a massage tomorrow night, and I''m so glad! I remember being a little disappointed when DH surprised me with one about 5 weeks ago only because I knew I wasn''t feeling that bad at that point and I wished I could save it for closer to the end. So yay for DH getting me another one!!!

Viz, I''m not so concerned about the life changes. My parents are close enough to babysit if we go out of town, and are more than willing to do so. I also have an arsenal of friends/coworkers who have already said they can''t wait to get to babysit for date nights and such; the older women I work with whose children and grown, or almost grown, are so excited to get to watch this kiddo and we''ll be taking advantage of their services. As for day-to-day, most of what we do is already kid friendly, so that won''t be so hard for us. Since we decided we want kids it just seems part of the natural evolution of our marriage and family.

Mara, we aren''t planning for the end yet, but we did start planning our last vacation that won''t involve ensuring we have care for the baby. We''re going to New York in November; the baby is going to go to his/her first concert, we''re going to see a few plays and just tool around a bit. I''m really looking forward to it. I''m not sure I''ll be brave enough to travel with an infant, and I don''t think I''ll want to leave the baby overnight too early on, so this should be a fun last hoorah. It is definitely a very different experience for the father. J is already being the protective father though, which is quite funny. Anything I do that he could concieve of hurting the baby is a big no. The experience of miscarriage was very hard on him and he is certainly behaving differently this time around (for example, he''s afraid of my stomach). We put baby talk on hold for almost two years after we got married, and I''m so thankful we had that time, now the baby just seems the next step.

Mandarine, awesome news! Glad the boys are doing well.

Steph, sounds like things are going well. That''s fantastic.

Phoenix, I worked in an ASD classroom today, as usual, and I took a kid to P.E. I was walknig the track with him and I''m sure we looked pathetic moving so slow. Oh well.

We officially have baby stuff in the house. I recieved two boxes in the mail today, one from my sister the other from my mom. My sister sent 2 onsies, 2 pairs of pants, a t-shirt, a jumper, and 2 pairs of socks. My mom and dad sent a stuffed animal. Very sweet (and cute stuff!). Clearly nesting is not my thing, either. I just figure I''ve got lots of time and January sales are going to be the perfect time for us to stock up, no need to buy now.

Amber, you crack me up...lol. My foot has become what I use to pick up pretty much anything that falls. Unless it''s glass (not that I ever break anything
12.gif
)

Viz, no names...or maybe I should say no new names, which means we''ll probably go with Alexander and Lucas. Unless we come up with something else!

Re: cleaning ladies, they are a must!!...have always been, in my book
9.gif

PG, enjoy the massage! Sounds nice!!!

Kim, it took me a while to get into the nesting phase...even though I started early (just in case the boys came super early). I think nesting doesn''t REALLY hit until the 3rd trimester (most women, with the exception of Amber! haha)

**

Slept a little better last night. By that I mean that at one point I got a 2-hour stretch!...woohooo!. I think mother nature is def training me for when the boys arrive. I don''t remmeber the last time I slept more than 3 hours in a row!!

well, FWIW i LOVE both of your names! i think they flow together beautifully! good choices!!!
i couldn't imagine having to pick two names... we can't get ONE boy name that we both agree on. i've written down our top 6 names... sealed the envelope and have it sitting on top of my hospital bag .. hopefully some divine name intervention will happen once we see baby.

congrats on your long stretch of sleep! funny story.. last night, i head to the bathroom for my first pee of the night, trying not to 'wake' myself up too much so i can go back to sleep (ha!) and as i'm walking back to bed i literally run into DH in the hallway...
well... not being used to seeing anyone in the middle of the night.... i screamed ..... loud. it totally freaked DH out.. and the dog, and myself for that matter. DH says - "i didn't know you were up... you scared the cr*p out of me".... and i'm thinking "are you kidding?.. you scared the cr*p out of me!" anyhoo, let's just say i sufficiently woke myself up. all the while i kept thinking about all the times when i was little and would wake up and stand at the head of my mom's bed just staring at her until she woke up so i could climb into bed with her. about 1/2 the time she would let out this stunned gulp of air that i could never understand. now i get it, it's very 'children of the corn'. this little face just staring at you in the middle of the night
37.gif
ohhh, the stuff i have to look forward to.

nothing much to report. have my weekly apt tomorrow.. hopefully they will check and see if there has been any progress... but i highly doubt it... he seems pretty content in there. my self fulling prophecy is in full effect... i'm going to be a 40+ week'er ... i just know it....

Mandarine: love the names, too!

Viz: Paul and I have totally done that wandering into the bathroom thing in the middle of the night. Of course, once he said, "Hi, baby." THEN realized it was me and got the crap scared out of him. I was like, DUDE, you JUST acknowledged me and then was scared? It was pretty funny on my part.

Question for the moms to be in later months: is it REALLY hard for you to turn over at night? When I try to roll from right to left or vice versa, my underbelly feels pulled and really hurts. It's like I'm not supposed to do that unassisted. It's getting really hard to sleep on my side with the belly.

Also: Paul has to put my shoes and socks on now. Is this Mother Nature preparing him for putting socks on the baby?

ETA: I have no appetite anymore. Last night the two of us were just lazing about watching Monday Night Football, then we moved into the bedroom to watch crap sitcoms. Finally we got up and moved back into the living room. I finally had to heat up some soup and toast, since it was the only thing that didn't sound revolting. I actually gave him 4/5 of the soup and ended up making myself a preggo cocktail: daquiri ice sherbet from baskin robbins floating in ginger ale. It was pretty damn good for dinner!

yes!!! if i''m on my back i try to roll to one side then push myself to a full sitting up position to shift sides at night. i told DH for next baby we are installing a rope and pully system so i can maneuver in bed.

i''ve heard that you should never try and sit straight up from a lying position as you can tear your abdominal muscles... so i try and roll to one side and push myself up...

p.s. i totally understand re: eating. i think my stomach is about the size of a pea now... i''m so starving.. eat 2 bites... get totally full/sick, cue heartburn, then have to pee... repeat

Sapphire,

Your baby is adorable!! No such thing as too many pictures of a little baby boy! Congrats! Enjoy every moment!!

****
Lovely bellies growing cutie babies, ladies. :)

You girls are so funny!! LOL!

SC- Your little boy is so adorable!

Thank you for the input on the "lifestyle" cribs. I always figure that PB and RH are about 150% of the average price I can find anywhere else, on anything really. I'll do some more looking around... I've got a few months.

So, my day started off by overhearing a conversation in the elevator that there had been layoffs in my dept yesterday. I get to my desk and low and behold, there is a meeting scheduled for 9 this morning. CRAP! Anyway, turns out they laid off 18 across the country in our dept and 3 came from our division, but none from my office. Yippee. However, since we are expected to be $30-50 million under goal this year, there will more than likely be more layoffs at the beginning of next year if this phase doesn't make much of a dent. Ohh, and though I suspected it, there will definitely be another year of no raise or bonus.
If I wasn't pregnant, I would be looking for a new job as we speak. I think I'll start looking while on maternity leave.

Anyway, so back to pregoo related topics, my first pregnancy symptom has surfaced in the form of hot flashes.
14.gif
My whole body starts to get hotter and hotter, and then my stomach starts to feel like a boiler. I haven't had a single tinge of morning sickness the whole pregnancy, but in our meeting this morning, I had to just short of sprint out of the room in order to get to the bathroom before getting sick. First time it has been that bad. Has anyone experienced this? It is happening about 3-4 times a day.

viz... omg i did that to my mom also except i was creepier. i would stand at her HEAD and stare at her, waiting for her to wake up. she said there was nothing more horrifying to wake up and look straight into another pair of eyes. i''m sure it doesn''t help that it''s your beloved kid, the grudge much anyone?!!! ever since i saw that movie i realized just what trauma i must have caused. i''m going to install a kid barrier around our bed so that doesn''t happen. HAHA. actually our bed is ridiculously high so the kid won''t be that tall for a while anyway.
3.gif

meresal, re PB and RH...yep it''s like 5000% more exp than everywhere else. i don''t know if you have been following my furniture dilemmas at all but this is part of my beef. i want something well made that will last but the price points are so all over in general that it''s hard to just assume that more exp means better quality. every time i would read that a $300 dresser was rickety in reviews, i''d read that a $500 dresser was still complained about by a lot of people. and my big issue with a lot of the baby furniture is that you can''t see it in person in a lot of places. walmart and target have like 2 cribs in their store out of the 100+ they have online. i did some research at BRU and another huge local store babyland to see things in person. but in the end we have this absurd # of points we can use at PB kids (and actually at RH as well but their stuff is even more exp than PB!!!) so i figure just use points to get stuff i have seen in person and like the quality of. fwiw, the camp dresser at PB kids, the one we are looking at seems to be made very well. i don''t want something that our kid can mangle within 3 years. the crib is more ''short term'' but if i will pay $800 for a dresser, it better have some gold hidden somwhere....OK fine at least solid railings. hehhe.

for anyone wondering, cleaners are KEY...we have been using ours for 2+ years and we love them (except that they sometimes break things, but they have gotten better), in my opinion it''s a small amnt of $$ to pay for not having to spend 2+ hours every other wkd cleaning ourselves. our wkds are busy enough, and lately i am lazy enough to never do anything anyway. after the kid comes they will be worth their weight in GOLD since we''ll be in the house 24/7. i am thinking of upping them to every 1.5 weeks or something for the first 2 months or something but we''ll see.

PG enjoy the massage!

Mand sorry that you are not getting much sleep. the no sleep thing terrifies me because that is like my only ''favorite'' thing right now. i am very lucky to still be sleeping like a baby, one of my friends who is 23 weeks too says she is sleeping horribly. towards the end i figure you should be rested but maybe that''s not mother nature''s plan!! jeez. love the names btw. we are like viz and can''t decide, at this point we don''t even have ONE we both love. dire straits.

Amber, lol re: preparing him for putting socks on the baby. my methods are more brutal. aka ''did you check the dog''s butt''...HAHAHAA. after she comes back in from outside. i am like gotta get you ready, daddy!!
3.gif

mere...re the sickness, i didn''t ever get sick but my nausea was horrible, i had it almost all day for about 2 months. wow that is something that i try to block out thinking about!!! i hope you feel better soon...mine tapered off around 14-15 weeks.

Ohh, and just to add... My sister and I are just about the same due date. She went to her appt last week, and the doctor said he's really happy with the way that things are progressing, which was great news!

So, they decided to tell his daughters. (2 girls are from my sister's husband's previous marriage). She made it sound like they were excited which is also great! The bad news... BIL also went to tell his ex-wife, and her reply was basically "I want more money".

A little backround. She is the one that wanted the divorce. He pays her half of his total income already. He and my sister have the girls every Tuesday/Thursday night, and every other weekend which includes Friday after school thru Sunday nights and taking the girls to school on Monday mornings. Which equals half the time. They split the daughters evenly.
She says very rude things about my sister behind her back, and not just to my BIL but also in front of the girls when they are at their mom's home. It's very hurtful for my sister, and the absolute LAST thing she needs right now, since she is already a high risk pregnancy.

If you have any extra dust, she could definitely use it. Just hoping that everything gets worked out for them and she can stay healthy.

ETA:
Mara- re: DRESSERS!! They are as expensive as regular adult dressers! Those things better last thru college! Since DH and I will need to buy new bedroom sets for the house, I am thinking about just building wall cubbies and using that as a "dresser" like thing... where we would put the clothes in backets in each of the cubbies. I'm not sure I'm ready to spend that kind of cash on a dresser for a baby.

Elliott, Asher and Logan are all precious!

Logan's adorable photos reminded me to quickly pop in and urge everyone to, if possible, make arrangements for professional newborn photos. At first, DH was on the fence and I was wavering, but we went ahead and are SO glad we did. I was reading a thread on Fertility Friend in a community for moms with older babies (1 year+) about biggest regrets, and so many said they regretted not having newborn photos taken.

Apparently, the best time is within the first 11 days. They're still very poseable during this time, and usually too sleepy to protest!
2.gif
We had Henry's taken at six days old.

Okay, I didn''t have time to go through and catch up, but I just wanted to share my birth story for anyone who is interested.

I went in for a NST on Monday Sept 28th to make sure I was okay to be induced that Thursday (one week after my due date). I guess they saw on the NST that he was having some heart rate dips when I had contractions, so they wanted me to repeat the NST the next day and see what happened. So I went in to the hospital for another NST on the 29th. I was having major contractions, none of which I could feel. A couple of them went right off the chart, and I guess those were causing some variations in his heartbeat, so they decided to admit me and induce me right then.

I was admitted at about 4:30, and was hooked up to pitocin by about 5:30. I still couldn''t feel any of my contractions. They broke my water at 6:10, and man, I started feeling those contractions real quick! Having the water out definitely changed things!!! I asked for the epidural, and had that around 9:00 or 9:30. That sure helped
1.gif
I could still feel things, which suprised me, but was nice. I didn''t want to be totally unaware of what was going on.

I finally made it 10cm at about 1:30 AM on the 30th, and got to start pushing. Man, that was hard! The nurse told me I could be pushing for two hours, and I never thought I could do it. But I ended up pushing for almost an hour and a half, and the time didn''t seem that long.

Eli James was finally born at 2:52 AM on September 30th. He was 8 lbs 8 oz and 20.5 inches long. He looks exactly like his daddy
1.gif
I may be a little biased, but he''s pretty much perfect in every way.

I was so freaked out about being induced, but in the end, I don''t know if it really makes any difference. My baby was born healthy, and that''s all that matters to me.

He has had some issues with jaundice, which have freaked me out. But he is getting better. They gave us some lights to use at home, and the humming of the machine has actually helped him sleep better, so now we know that he needs some white noise at night.

I''ll try and catch up some more this week, and post some pics, since I love seeing everyone else''s.

For all of you nearing the end, I just want you to know, it is all worth it. Everyone kept telling me I was going to wish that I could be pregnant again, but I seriously don''t! Yes, I am in pain from delivery (episiotomies are no fun!), and I don''t get much sleep, but it is all worth is when you look your baby in the face
1.gif

I want to ditto doing newborn photos. It is my biggest regret. I was dealing with baby blues and kept ignoring my friend''s call to get the photos done (her husband is a photographer). I regret it so much.

Now, if I try to get her to pose she either stares at her feet the entire time (don''t know why she loves her feet so much) or screams.

At least once a night when I roll over the bottom of my belly hurts really bad---it''s because I roll over in my sleep, forgetting that I have this massive belly, and I get that ligament stretching pain. It''s terrible but thankfully goes away really quickly.

Ahh, loving all the pics!

So Cal: Thanks for the birth story! Glad to hear that being induced worked out for you in the end.

I have a doctor''s appointment tomorrow (35 weeks) which means I have the Group B Strep test....

Re: newborn photos, this is the plus to being a photographer! I am SO excited to try the newborn photos - they are so poseable and sleepy, and they just look so adorable bundled into a basket or net.

So Cal, great story! Now that I''m getting closer the labor/delivery stories aren''t scaring me anymore. Now I''m just trying to learn things from them.

Ebree: Looooove the baby shots. That little fuzzy head that you just KNOW smells like baby heaven. Ahhh. We''re planning on getting them done for Christmas, about a month after she''s born. Paul''s friend took "couple" pictures of us (you''ve seen them on the other site) and she''s all excited about doing the baby shots when she comes home to visit for Christmas. I''m thinking of getting the baby a little red tutu like =tags&includes[]=title:2o8h065d]this one on etsy . Do you think she''ll still be okay a month later, flex-wise?

Tao: good luck at the GBS test. So not looking forward to that.

Congratulations SoCal!

I too was suprised how much you were aware of with the epidural.

Commiserations on the episiotomy, I had a two inch medio-lateral one - I didn''t realsie that they were painful as they gave me morphine for the first 3 days which should have warned me, but geez it used to reduce me to tears at times. I found that ice (crushed up in a surgical glove) helped, sitting on a towel rolled into a ring shape (how I wished I''d bought one of the rings designed for such things), sitzbaths with witchhazel and peeing in the shower all really helped plus plenty of analgesics.

Here''s a good example of a newborn pose we likely could not get of him now, at three and a half months old. A version of this went out on his birth announcements.

It''s worth it- I promise!

I also regret not taking neworb shots. We did some on our own when he was 3 weeks and they are pretty good, but they are totally nekkid and so not appropriate for public consumption.

I am really behind.

Logan is adorable. So alert. Love the b&w of Logan and your niece.
I BF Meena, and I got AF back when Meena was 6 months and starting solids (I was still BFing).

Yay for seeing your LO and hearing the heartbeats again.
How funny that your BIL didn''t get it but everyone else did.

There''s always #3 for another girl.

I like Kade Braxton. Now why can''t I think of good name like that. BTW, I think DH is pretty set on Jet or Jett as the middle name.

DHs just like to make us feel so much better, don''t they? LOL.

I guess it goes both way with the internals. I mean you want to know, but then it can be frustrating when there''s no progress. I started getting them at 36 weeks last pregnancy, and I was always only fingertip dilated, which basically mean I wasn''t dilated. I kept worrying that I would be overdue, but Meena came 4 days before her due date.
Sounds like you have a great weekends just doing stuffs.
Any updates on your friends? Our cousin went in preterm labor at 20 weeks with twins, and it didn''t end well. Hope she and her babies are

Mandy
Were you able to get some sleep yesterday night? I hope it gets better for you.
Just a couple more weeks.

LOL on the fist bump. You got a couple football fans in there.

Natalina
Did you get to talk to your dr? When I lost my MP, my dr said I will probably be giving birth within 24 hrs. Hope that''s true for you.

Amber
Good for you and DH for standing up to MIL. Do what you are comfortable with. Call them after Piper is here and you get to spend some time alone.
LMAO about your 330 pee problem. Love your humor.
Sorry about your lack of appetite. Hope it gets better.

I think at this stage, the baby is still kind of sideway in a cradle like position. I always feel the kicks on my right side. Meena was the same way up throughout the pregnancy, and she still ended up head first.
I need to use "growing some legs" reason with DH.

MP
I love your comment too. I''ve been too easy on DH.

Wow you were productive. I am so not in the nesting mode yet, but we don''t have much to do. We just have to get a full size mattress and move some stuffs around in Meena''s room. They''ll have to share a room until SIL moves out of our extra room.

Enjoy your massage tomorrow. DH was asking if I want another one the other day. At first I was thinking about getting one once a month, but I decided I''ll wait until I am closer to my EDD and more uncomfortable.

meresal
I had gotten hotter, and usually also ended up feeling nauseous too. Feel better.

SoCal
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your birth story. Can''t wait to see pics of Eli.

- I''ve been reading your posts on newborn photos and was just curious if those of you who have done it had the photographer come to your house, or did you bring the baby to the studio? Obv with the baby being so young, I wasn''t sure if it''s best to have the photographer come to the house?

TIA and congrats to all the soon-to-be moms out there!

Generally the baby is happier and more comfortable if you bring the photographer to your home - the baby is already used to the smells and sounds of being there, and is more likely to sleep through the whole thing. If your photographer shows up with the sniffles or something, though, kick them out! Lol. Just find a corner where you have good, natural light and move the furniture out of the way so he/she can set up their props there.

Amber, at a month old they won''t be as easy to curl up, but you can still lay the baby on her tummy with her butt in the air - with a tutu you will want to show it off, and that''s the best pose when they are so small!

Qtiekiki, husbands are the best, mine is anyways. He''s just been so fantastic through all of this: supportive, funny, loving, concerned; I can''t say enough good things about him.

Mandarine, nesting for me usually means cleaning frantically; my husband has totally taken over that responsibility, sans the franctic part. The plan is to get a house cleaner after we move, so I''m hoping the move happens before the baby comes, but we''ll see how things pan out. I enjoy looking at stuff online for limited periods of time, but it hasn''t translated into doing anything around the house. I think, in part, because we are going to be moving. I wouldn''t go through the trouble of making a nursery here that would only be temporary and the kid won''t know the difference so I''m not worried about it.
