Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Shout out for DrK...

I''m a big fan of a duo here in the UK called Amateur Transplants and DH and I go to most of their gigs. One is an anaesthetist and the other a OB/GYN and they write fairly (very) non-pc parodies of songs mainly on medical themes and raise a load of $$$ for Cancer Support charities in the process. I''ve been meaning to post you a link to this... The Anaesthetist''s Hymn.

Enjoy!

Happy New Years Day!

We went down to Balboa Park and walked around for a few hours then had lunch. It was a nice way to start our new year.

I have a new laptop, can''t figure out how to resize pictures using the new program. Once I do I''ll post as I actually managed to take a picture today.

Pandora - I actually know that song already - it was a wildfire Youtube hit amongst all the anesthesia departments where I trained a couple years ago. Even got sung at one of the Christmas Grand Rounds as part of the anesthesia presentation. Totally awesome song, and I''d love to see them in concert to hear more of the other stuff. Loved how non-PC they were. And able to poke fun at the medical profession - just great!

I wondered if you might have come across it. They are so funny, their gigs are always a sell-out - the do the Edinburgh Festival each year as well. A lot of their other stuff is available on You-tube, otherwise the DVD is the full version of one of their concerts. Their take on the 'Your Beautiful' song is awesome...

I did actually check on google to see where they both worked as I could not have coped with being in labour and one of them walking in!

Wondering about Anchor...

Mere, Steph, Burk, and DrK you all look awesome! Esp love your smile Burk!

I promise that I do wear other clothes than this T and jeans, but how cute is our little nephew sitting on my bump? Two cousins just hangin''

Swimmer,

I just posted on the TTC thread, hoping you''d post a belly pic soon. Yay, my wish came true. What a precious picture! And your baby will have a playmate in that cuteness nephew of yours. So fun!!

You look great, mama!!

I missed Mara's photo! You at too cute lady, can't wait to get that far!

eta: Fisher, thank you! see my reply in TTC.

Cute bellies everyone.

Steph - You look great, and the bump does look low.
Drk - Where are you hiding that baby? LOL. You are still so tiny.
Burk - Beached whale? Are you kidding me? You are adorable.
Mara - Real beached whale... don't think so. You are all belly.
Swimmer - Your belly pic is so cute with your nephew hanging out. But I don't see the bump. hehe.

Here's me at 36w 1d. My belly is huge. =D

Ladies, I love the bellies! I hope that I''m lucky enough (and have the willpower) to keep the bootie and legs in pre-preggo shape like you all have. Everyone of you...all belly! Good for you!

Vesper, thanks for the info on spotting. It''s gone now. There was some pink on one wipe then a little pink mixed with cm on a wipe the next day and gone since. Before I was preggo, I spotted ALL he time and my doctor said I had a really vascular and sensitive cervix so hopefully that''s it. My worry and anxiety comes and goes but I''m trying to stay sane over here...oh, and maybe enjoy this just a little.

Here we go with all this huge talk again; you don''t look huge, ladies, you look pregnant.

I think I figured out the picture thing, just shy of 30 weeks.

swimmer, such a cute photo but yep that bump is pretty hidden!
qt...i love your belly, you are so small everywhere else. and you are glowing!
kimi...yay for working the camera to get us a pic! i can definitely see the bump now hehe.

ginger are you ever going to post a photo girl?!?!?! not fair!

and yeah i hated the digging into my lower pelvic area, but thankfully i have slugged out even at work and am wearing stretch pants with dresses and the like more and more. and at home i am always in sweats. it cracked me up because for NYE i found this super cute dress in my closet i forgot i had. it wasn't even maternity, but was strapless, silvery w/embroidery, fit perfectly and everyone was saying how great i looked. i laughed and told greg that people probably think that this preggo stuff is effortless when they only see me like once a month looking cute w/makeup on. they don't see me moaning on the couch like a beached whale with uncombed hair, cutup pre-pregnancy pants and tops that don't cover my belly...
3.gif
which is what i look like 95% of the time. HAHA.

lol drk re: my butt... it has totally grown since pregnancy. normally it is not quite so big...but i do put on weight in my midsection and butt when i gain weight. and boobs, which are huge even though in the pic they look tiny compared to belly. they have grown like 3 sizes at least.

i am feeling a bit more uncomfortable each day. i am forcing myself to walk now... we walked last nite and this morning. it doesn't feel that great when doing it, but i like the feeling of knowing i'm doing SOMETHING and it makes all sorts of things happen down there, i feel a lot more tightening when i walk, and everyone keeps telling me to walk to help encourage things to get going. kimi how are you still walking for a few hours?? i can barely make it like 45 min at a snail pace.

one more week til full term according to babycenter...then it's fair game on getting him out! haha...if he goes to 40 i might be permanently under sedation. his snake in the uterus movements are more and more pronounced and the other night we felt painful little pointy TOES against our fingers as he was pushing. personally i think he can't really be having a good time in there, all contorted and squished. surely he wants to come out soon RIGHT?

steph....re: the lower back pain, omg...i get it if i stand for too long or even do too many things standing up. i literally can do like 15-30 min at a time of a standing exercise (like laundry, or dishes or cooking) and then i HAVE to lay down on my side for another 30 min. if i am sitting down i feel ok, but then he usually tries to crawl under my rib. standing or laying feels best for uterus comfort but not for lower back. and i have never really had lower back pain, it can be really uncomfortable. i put the heating pad on at night now for 15 min.

i spent a few hours yesterday organizing and doing laundry for the baby too. wow SO much laundry...between the sheets, pads, burp cloths, swaddlers, clothes, towels!!! now i have to fold it and put it all away. and everything just takes so much longer now since i am slower. i want to pack our hospital bag this wkd as well just so it's ready. greg will put the car seat in next weekend.

tomorrow we will take down our xmas stuff--the house will seem so barren for a week or two without it.

Mara, I'm sure it has lots to do with my job.. I'm on my feet for most of a 7 hour day, running after kids on the playground, walking around campus, standing in class, etc. I haven't been doing my normal exercise routine, which makes me feel terrible, but I've maintained my ability to keep moving as it's a necessity. I was definitely moving slow yesterday, I was not at all dressed for a long walk and it was warm, but it feels good to be up and moving, when I sit for long periods of time is when I get uncomfortable.

I'm definitely getting bigger, I've still yet to have a stranger comment on my being pregnant, which isn't a bad thing. I'm sure clothing choice has something to do with that.

I almost have a butt now. Like you, drk, I've always been lacking in that area.

Steph, hope you're doing okay.

Swimmer, that photo is darling.

I moved baby stuff from a closet to a storage container this morning so when it's time to move it's ready to go. This kid has a ton of newborn clothes and I haven't even had a shower yet. She'll be well dressed and have nowhere to sleep at this rate!

Well, I think it''s time I officially join the Preggo Thread. I am 12 weeks and due for C-section around July 7. We have a little boy who will be 4 in Feb and he is extremely excited about the baby. JT was a big baby and we''re expecting another big one. I''m trying hard to keep a handle on my weight gain. With JT I gained 21 lbs total and lost 20 lbs in the hospital. With this baby, I''m trying to keep the gain at 15 or less. (I''m one of those "obese" ladies, although I only ever felt chubby...) To increase my weight gain fear, my sis is getting married in August and has asked me to be matron of honor. So, yeah, that should make for a panicky few weeks!! lol. I haven''t gained anything yet, I''ve lost a couple pounds due to MS. Right before I got pregnant I started getting serious about getting in shape. I lost 15 lbs and toned up a bit. I''m going to try to keep working out (on a lesser level) throughout this pregnancy. I did lots of yoga poses when I was pregnant with JT and I think it helped me to bounce back after the c-section.

Sorry, that was quite long...

We have had our first US and everything looked good, baby measured right on schedule and hb was 141 at 7w2d. I have an appt on Wed and will hear the hb but no US until around 22 weeks to hopefully find out gender.

All of you ladies and your bellies look gorgeous. I will not be posting those pics. lol I really do look like a beached whale when pregnant!!

SS congrats !!!

Love all the bellie pics, you all look amazing!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy SomethingShiny! Don''t worry too much about your weight - just enjoy your pregnancy - I''m sure that you look beautiful, and your body will do what it needs to grow a healthy baby. BTW, I am totally jealous of the fact that you only gained 21 pounds last time and lost 20 at the hospital - that is amazing!

somethingshiny, congrats, glad to have you here! Not to pry too much, but is there a reason for having a c-section scheduled so soon?

All the bellies look so adorable ladies. I can''t believe how well you are all carrying! I have been totally lazy about pictures since I haven''t been at work to use the big mirror - my first fun thing to buy for our new place is going to be a full length mirror, for sure!
25.gif

Thanks for the Congrats, ladies!!

Vesper~ There''s NO reason to be jealous of my previous gain, like I said, I''m heavy to begin with so I really have to keep my weight down. I would much rather weigh 145 and gain 40 lbs than to weigh what I do and gain 15!! btw- JT was 10 lbs 7 oz, so the 20 lbs came off easily between him and the extra stuff.

MP~ lol about prying. I seem to have no personal boundaries on this board!! I''ll share anything! With JT, I had an emergency c-section after 39 hrs of labor due to "disproportion." His head was ginormous and I couldn''t get him out. I actually never even pushed because he never came down far enough. So, the dr is assuming that this child will also be big (most of the babies in my family are well over 9 lbs with the biggest ones at 11 lbs). My due date from LMP is July 17th but he wants to get the baby out earlier so it will be an easier surgery. July 7th is the estimated date that I''ll have a C. We''ll find out more info closer to the end of the pregnancy to see how big baby has gotten. The reason this topic was approached at all at my appt was because I was asking what my chances for a VBAC were. My doc won''t attempt a VBAC with me (although he offered to refer me to a doc who might) so we went into detail about why and that''s when he decided he would take the baby early to try to get the baby before 10 lbs. I''m not sure why 10 lbs is the mark....although I do know that they are very concerned that I''ll develop gestational diabetes. (I did not with JT.)

I also don''t have a full length mirror. Not sure I would consider that "fun" lol!!!

Ah, I see. Well I will be sending you tiny baby thoughts them somethingshiny lol. My biggest worry is a big baby!

Just thought id pop in to share the news that Im an Aunt
36.gif
my SO''s brother and his wife welcomed Eva Juliette on Jan 3 in Aus. Im hoping to be a good Aunty to her and reading the posts of all the lovely ladies in here, and on the other Family & Home threads has put me in good stead i think, so thank-you
21.gif

She was due December 20 but had to be induced on Jan 2 and unfortunately after 27hours of labor had to have a c-section. Ouch! I think my SO was a little nervous at how i could chat about pitocin and intervention etc and its all from reading this thread

Congrats on being an Aunty Blackpaw. Eva Juliette is such a beautiful name!!!

Thanks Kaleigh

it is a beautiful name...i think it will suit her!

Hello Ladies,
Popping in late after catching up on all the prego belly pics and a crazy holiday and I just want to say you all look so cute! Your bellies are wonderful! I am not showing all that much with a "baby bump" as of yet at 18 weeks so a pic is kinda senseless - I was actually hoping this one would have been like my first and I wouldnt show for another 12 weeks... Thats obviously NOT my luck this time as I am already up 5lbs and it seems as if it should be more like 10 the way I look.
8.gif
Oh well right, afterall, it is pregnancy and the bump is part of all the fun!

mara~You look great! I''m pretty low b/c it''s my second pregnancy. I hope this low stuff means he makes his appearance early b/c I''m getting a little uncomfortable these days and going at 38 weeks or so is sounding perfect.
40.gif
Oh, and the smile was b/c my lovely husband was cracking jokes about belly shots.

drk~Thanks! The belly is just so much bigger than yours but I shouldn''t be comparing. I hear ya on the butt....I''ve never had one either.

steph~Thanks. I''ve been carrying him very low the whole pregnancy but it''s becoming pretty obvious. Doctor says it has to do with the second pregnancy and pretty close together. You may need to do a bare belly next week so we can really tell how low you are!
9.gif

ginger~Like I said to steph and mara, I''ve carried low my entire pregnancy and it is a PITA sometimes because pants are VERY uncomfy unless I''m wearing yoga pants or some other stretch pant like that.

Kimberly~You look great!

Swimmer~Such a cute pic!!

QT~You are all belly lady!!

somethingshiny~Congrats!!

Blackpaw~Congrats on being an aunt!

I keep checking to see if Anchor has posted! I''m assuming her absence means she had her little one...I wonder if she had a boy or girl.

Tomorrow is going to be a long, pregnancy filled day. Doing the 3 hour GD screen first thing in the morning and then our first CBE class from 6:30-9. The hospital is about 30 minutes from our house, so lots of back and forth too. John is really not feeling well, but feels the need to go to both. From what I''ve read I need someone to drive me to the GD testing, just in case I get sick, and he can go out to breakfast and work from Kinko''s rather than sitting with me for 3 horus, but I''m fine with going to the first CBE class alone. He says the baby will be mad if he doesn''t go because he won''t be ready when it''s time for her to come; I told him I''d take notes. He''s so stubborn we''ll see what ends up happening.

Weird - I never read about getting sick with the GDM test. I felt fine throughout for the 1 hour test.

I think my little one is making up for a quiet early 3/4 of the day by beating up my ribs and stomach tonight. Good thing, since I keep waking up in the middle of the night paranoid that I''ve landed on my back and killed the placental blood flow and hurt the baby. Luckily, she still seems ok.

Time for bed, I guess - Have to be up shortly after 6am to head to work tomorrow morning. Oh joy! I''m not even all that tired right now either. I wonder how many times I''ll write 2009 by mistake on my charts?

Drk, I had no problem with the one hour test, but because the 3 hour test includes fasting for 12 hours or so (my paperwork just says don't eat, drink, chew gum after 10pm the night before the test) prior to the test one can get quite nauseous and weak according to my OB, the lab, and my friends/family who have had to take the test. I'm just takign the better safe than sorry route.

i never knew about anyone getting sick from the GD testing either. my coworker did the 3 hour one on her own with no issues except being really hungry afterwards hehe. but maybe it depends on the hospital and what they recommend. your hub sounds funny kimi re the baby will 'know' hehe.

welcome something shiny!

congrats blackpaw!

i also am hoping anchor has her little baby and all is well... i wonder girl or boy!!
5.gif

today was our last day 'off' ...i have 2 weeks at work left then i'm off on mat leave. i have been feeling ok the last 2 days.. just random stretching and pains below but getting more used to him creeping under the rib i guess. sleeping ok at night still thankfully. knock on wood. i am getting tired of people poking at my belly though!! i did 4 loads of laundry the last few days, made the bed, put nb and 0-3 months clothes in drawers, etc etc. it all took a lot longer than i thought it would given my slower moving self. but we're almost ready so yay.

I think they take the extra-cautious route in suggesting having someone available to drive you. My sister and good friend both felt awful after the test, but another friend felt fine, so we'll see how it goes for me. I tend not to be affected by such things, so I'm guessing it will be no big deal but who knows.

Mara, my husband is a nut. He was so serious about not missing the first class, he woke up this morning saying he feels better, I think he's fibbing.
