Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

You could probably get it at CVS or the grocery store! It''s available everywhere. It''s this gauzy stuff that comes on a roll and you cut what you need, put it in the "pocket" of what you''re hemming and use an iron on it.

With Kimi''s permission, here is the beautiful Jane Katherine!

aw, kimi! jane is beautiful! and i LOVE her name!

Awwhhh, so precious Jane Katherine... Congrats Kim! Good luck moving! (I can''t believe your moving with a brand new baby but hang in there!)

HH, hugs to you and maybe get your DH some kind of book on surviving your wife''s pregnancy for men. I swear, my DH has been pretty good about the nausea and dont-touch-me-wife that cries randomly and gets exasperated for small things, but its taken some training and he still feels unloved
7.gif
7.gif
he''s like, no one warned me I''d be losing out to the nausea and little bean already. I''m like, I''d much rather be feeling great and wanting to by affectionate and physical, but I''M NOT THERE and its not my choice. I mean, who warned me? I didn''t know the first tri would be such a trial.

Speaking of, I think I''m in denial. Or something. I''m not excited yet. Or maybe I would be excited but I''m beaten down for now. I told my sister last week, because I was miserable and crying and DH was not available for dealing assistance, and she was *so excited* and it was wonderful - someone excited! yay! - but then she asked if I was excited and I really am just *surviving* right now. Counting days. Pleased with the good/easier day, but mainly waiting for the general icky feelings to let up. Yelling myself I will be excited in the second tri, and things will be easier then? Hmmm, how does this work? Memo to body, brain, please process pregnancy news and get excited :)

There''s a Carter''s very near me (strangely, it''s not in an outlet center), and I''ve popped in there a couple of times to buy gifts. I usually head for the sale rack, and I''ve been able to find some great deals.

But now that I''ll be shopping for my own LO and looking for specific things, I may get more insight into their pricing. They always seem to offer coupons and I''ve heard that you should sign up for their mailing list to learn about sales and other offers.

In other news, my legs are a bit sore today from yesterday''s 5k. I was only able to run about 1/2 mile, and then felt a bit of belly tightness and didn''t want to push it. So I ended up walking/rubbing the belly and speedwalking most of the 3 miles. Overall, though I was glad to have gotten out on a beautiful day and this is always a fun race.

JCrow & Mere- I LOVE the SM outlet! I made it a point to carve out time to swing by there when I was in the area for business every year.

lulu- sooo close to vacation. yahoo for you!

What a gorgeous baby Jane is. I LOVE her name - definitely on my short list - that is if we have a girl!

Gosh, I wish the next weeks go by fast - I can''t wait for the gender scan!

cara, hang in there! it does get better. i remember feeling positively miserable and everyone saying it would get better and me thinking yeh right! but guess what, it did. a big thing that helped me was when we did the anatomy scan and found out we''re having a girl. for some reason, something inside clicked and it was like i just connected suddenly with a being inside of me rather than a thing. or a bean. or a whatever. it was like oh, now it''s a person growing.

Hugs to you, Cara! I had a relatively easy 1st tri, but I too was in a state of denial. It truly didn''t feel REAL to me until the NT scan at 12/13-ish weeks combined with going into the 2nd tri. That''s the 1st time I went from being "quietly and cautiously" excited to being REALLY excited.

And because we didn''t spread the news until about 16 weeks, i really didn''t have a IRL outlet to share my concerns/overall feelings with. My best friend knew, but she''s kinda anti-kid so she wouldn''t have understood anyway. So good for you for sharing the news with your sister!

Your brain will certainly process that you''re PG and you''ll begin to get excited. Trust me!

JCrow and I were posting at the same time.

Ditto to feeling connected with your little one after going through a "key" scan or appt!

Kimi, she''s beautiful! Welcome Jane!

cara, it gets a lot more REAL the 2nd trimester when you start to feel baby movements and/or you find out the gender. In the beginning, you may be excited but it''s hard to feel excited when you feel so sick and tired! I have no energy to feel excited. It does get better, I promise! hugs!

Cara I totally ''get'' it. DH and I have had that talk on numerous occasions and at this point I think he still thinks it''s just an excuse I''m using to cover up bad behavior. He''s read the books and he''s talked to people, he just refuses to believe it.

Congrats Kim and family!
Jane Katherine is so teeny (though she looks way bigger) and precious

Love her name -- so simple yet eloguent.

congrats KIMI!! she''s just lovely and she looks wayyy bigger than 5lbs!!

jcrow...it doesnt matter if anything is called ''sleep'' whatever. basically the kid wears whatever you want it to for whatever occasion hahaha. we only change J once a day so he lives in kimonos and sleep gowns. we have yet to put a ''cute outfit'' on him and he is starting his 5th week. i just don''t feel like dressing him up in outfits when he''s way more comfy in just lounge clothes (just like mom!).

oh, and regarding the sleeper bundlers with mitts - we bought size 0-3. should we also get 3-6 or do they no longer need the mitts then?
Sleep sacks with mits - I would say you''ll use them up until 6 months or so.

HH, I have the same issue with DH. He *understands* that the mood swings are hormone related but still thinks that''s not a good enough excuse to act in certain ways. Men!

KIMI, congrats! She is absolutely gorgeous, I just want to squish her cheeks!

HH, I still say threatening him with a titty twister will make him more sympathetic. Grrr.

puppmom, the photoshoot went great, despite the weather NOT cooperating. It was gloomy, gray, and threatening rain - plus I wore my coat the whole time because the wind was COLD! So we plan to have another little shoot on a sunnier day near our house. She said she should have them done today or tomorrow though. Here is a teaser!

It was the opposite for us so I think maybe just wait? After 3 months when she realized she has hands, that was the end of anything placed on them

I''m not sure what the mitts are for besides scratching their faces. I always kept her nails really short so we didn''t have a problem with her scratching her face too much.

Cara- I am almost 32 weeks and still get that sudden feeling of , "Ohh, holy crap... I''m pregnant!" It''s hard to explain, and I don''t even understand it, other than the fact that it might have something to do with the fact that our LO was a surprise. I haven''t completely wrapped my head around the entire concept. I go thru stages of being very excited, and some where I''m kind of ambivalent.

My sister had hypermesis and trust me, the only time she was excited about her pregnancy was the day she found out and the day her daughter was delivered. She is the best mother ever, and is testament to the fact, that how you feel during pregnancy is not always indicative of how you will feel about the baby afterwards.

Some people just have a harder time getting excited about things they don''t *know* and haven''t *experienced* before. I am one of those people. However, I know the minute we meet our son, he will immeditaly light up our lives.

Everything will work out and you will get excited, don''t worry!

congratrs kimi!!! jane elizabeth is just precious

jcrow - those are the the sleeping gowns we have. i love the gap ones because they are slightly smaller and the neckline unbuttons to make changing easy, then buttons to a narrower neckline so it stays on better.

mara - A stays in his "lounge clothes all day too, as does mom
9.gif
waaaay too much effort to dress cute when the chance of explosive poo or massive pee is not unsubstantial
3.gif

cara - ditto to what jcrow said. the first tri it''s all about getting through that yucko feeling one day at a time. 2nd tri really will be better, although it may be hard to believe now. then you may be able to better wrap your mind around the whole whoa i''m preggo! although like mer i still had the whoa i''m preggo feeling well into 3rd tri. esp when i would walk by a morror and get a glimpse of myself with a belly
5.gif
. it''s a lot to process.

MP i love that image!! so cute, except you can't see any belly lol!!!

re: mitts, even though we file down J's nails he still manages to stab himself in the eye and stuff, so the mitts stay on. it prob depends on your kid too...ours is a little flailer and self-mutilator.

oh and jcrow re: the update on the 'activity in the womb' and real life? well now that J is entering his 5th week, i am starting to FEAR how active this kid will be. he ROLLED OVER at the pediatrician's last week, yep at 4 weeks! and he is incredibly strong, it's crazy how strong this kid is already and has been since birth, he can grab and pin our arm on his body with his arms. we def feel like he will be an 'active' child and won't just sit back watching blithely. he is always flailing his arms, legs, he kicks off any socks or anything we can put on his feet. houdini's out of his hand mitts. loves to stab himself in the eye, smack himself in the face, and scratch his face and my boob. obviously he is adorable but yep he's going to be ACTIVE. when i think back to how CRAZY he was in the womb, honestly could i have expected anything else?? those feet and hands. will report back later LOL.

ginger...lol well J loves to pee on himself and his outfit and in his face when we change him sooo yep, cute clothes, not so much!! but i still love to put socks or something fun on him so we can be entertained at least haha.

gotcha. thanks for the clarification. do you put pants on too when you have the kimono tops on him? i know i'll have a spring baby, but i'm thinking something will need to be on her legs too...

thanks for the crazy in womb update. that's what i'm thinking will happen with us too.. ekks.

Mara, I was stuck in my coat the whole time! Haha I should have more soon, hopefully that show the belly better.

My friend who is a nurse in the NICU told me that they teach new moms to cut their babies nails during BFing - with their TEETH. That sounds horrible, but smart at the same time. You can feel exactly how low to bite and you will be holding their little hands during a time when they generally sit pretty still - distracted by milk! - so the risk of cutting them too low or annoying them with the nail file isn''t as bad. She said she will teach me how - I''ll report back on how that goes lol. I may be too scared to do it properly.

I''ve heard this too. I''m sorry, but I don''t bite my own nails, why would I bite my child''s?

kimi, congratulations!!! Jane is just beautiful!!!!!

MP, I totally bit my children''s nails for a while! After I accidentally cut DD1''s little finger the first time I used clippers on her, I was so traumatized that I vowed to never use them again!! Honestly, she bled a lot but barely cried--I was just in major hormonal mode and couldn''t deal with it! Anyway, biting their nails isn''t that big a deal and it certainly helps to avoid any cutting of their skin so I did it for a while. Now that both girls are bigger, they actually enjoy when I cut their nails with clippers and of course, the older one loves having her nails painted too so it''s a package deal! But I know lots of people who bite their littie one''s nails in the beginning.

HH, you''ll do a lot of things that you never thought you''d do once you have a child. Trust me!!!
3.gif

Because they are DELICIOUS baby toes and fingers!

MP- I can't wait to see your pics!!

For those of you ladies that are further along, have you noticed sore/tender spots on your belly. I have one, if you look down at your belly, it is locaetd about an inch to the left of my belly button. It gets really tender as the day goes on, but if I press on it at any time during the day, it hurts.

Any ideas? I tried google and can't come up with anything?
