Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Vesper/Mere- interesting idea about compressing the ole' girdle. I will look to you ladies to come back with some testimonals about their performance . . .

HH - splitting a pair of pants is definitely one of those laugh/cry moments, but at least you're getting some great new pairs out of the event! I really have been surprised by how much I like my maternity pants. comfy and don't look too shabby. plug for gap maternity if you have to be office appropriate. plug for sweats if you don't
3.gif
.

jcrow - I saw that you picked up a crib. Did you set it up? Do you like it. I had to order ours (same jenny lind style) and it still hasn't arrived. apparently, there was some sort of a warehouse holdup. i can't wait to see how it looks.
30.gif

************************************
so I just got back from my 24 wk appointment. This was my first appointment with my new OB and I think that I love her. She just had a great personality, asked what I thought the be the *right* questions. overall felt like a good match. hurray! Otherwise it was an uneventful appointment. My little lady is measuring well (1 cm behind, but was told that was perfectly normal), heartbeat excellent (never get of that tiny thumping) but apparently over the last four weeks I gained SEVEN pounds. I blame the blizzards. nothing to due but be housebound and eat. however, the dr. wasn't concerned at all and said that overall my gains are great. (maybe the true reason why I love her). so, I think that I have to lay off the pancakes a bit. starting after vacation.

one day until mexico. bathing suit or not here I come
emsmiled.gif

lovelylulu - we ended up getting the delta jenny lind crib. at the time, i couldn''t justify the price difference between the delta and davinci one, especially since you have to buy the conversion kit for the davinci where as the delta comes with it. it was a cinch to put together and i think it looks great with the other furniture we''re using in the baby''s room.

--

any one else STRUGGLING to come with a name they love? ugh. it''s so frustrating. we''re getting calls from family members seeing what we''ve decided on. everyone wants to know. some even want to monogram stuff for us, but we just don''t know! nothing says "oh that''s perfect!"

jcrow - no judgements from me on brand
5.gif
I was just curious if it look smashing all set up and I''m so glad to hear that it does

36.gif

and yes.

names. are. tough.

care to throw around any possibilities?

I''ll go first
9.gif

We have a last name that ends in an ry, so lots of names that I like don''t flow well, i.e. Lucy. Too much of a repetitive ie sound. So far we''re thinking about:

Lila nn Lulu (yes, I know that some people think Lulu is an absurd name, but I am so smitten with it at a nickname)
Nora
Eleanor

But really we don''t have anything sorted...

lovelylulu,

I remember (and love, and vote for!) Lila James from a previous post. I think it has such a nice flow.
30.gif
And I think "Lulu" is precious.

LULU-I love Eleanor and Lila!

Lulu-I remember your earlier thread too and think that Lila James is an AMAZING name!

Another lurker vote for Lila James! Love it!
2.gif

Also, FWIW on the belly bands, I think they possibly help you go back down faster, but they really don''t do much more than that IMO. And I wouldn''t spend a lot of money on one, after my c-section my hospital gave me one for free, I just had to ask. I wish I could remember what it was called, but it''s "medically" used to give you stomach support after a c-section or other ab surgery.

Lulu-

I love all of your names. And I happen to think "Lulu" iis a lovely nickname!
2.gif

I also like Louisa, which can also use the nickname Lulu or Lula.

Meresal and others- I am a total gift-giver and a long time ago I had to accept that it's something I love to do, but it's not something that everyone loves to do. There was a book that was really popular awhile ago called The Languages of Love (or something similar). Basically the idea is that everyone "shows" their love in different ways. So for example one person is very affectionate physically, while another may be very vocally affectionate. Or I am a gift-giver while DH "shows" his love by doing things for me. So I try to remember not to be mad at the way he DOESN'T show me his love, and try to focus on and appreciate the way he DOES show me his love. I never actually read the book, btw, but remembered the concept. But that's not to say that I don't get disappointed sometimes. I *wish* he'd come up with a push present all on his own. But it's not his thing, so for Christmas I said "I want a necklace with an O initial." I got a necklace with an O initial.
3.gif
Which, btw, is NOT my push present but he doesn't know that yet. I am plotting what I really want.

ETA: Mer, interestingly, my DH also totally surprised me with an amazing wedding gift.

Congrats Kim!!!! I have always loved the name Jane.

Mere sorry to hear about your hubby. Unfortunately I have no advice, as my FI is that way all the time. In fact, this Christmas for the first time he actually decided on a gift on his own, and was super stressed about it and almost didn''t get it for fear I wouldn''t like it
20.gif
. Funny thing, I loved the gift. He is sweet and thoughtful in other ways though, so after almost 9 years, I just deal with it.

HH sorry to hear about your pants, although it was good for a laugh. And hey, you get new clothes out of it, so that is always good.

Lulu I love Lila! And I think Lulu is an adorable nickname. I also like Eleanor, and I would have that on a girl''s name list if it wasn''t the first name of a friend of ours. I hope you have a great time in Mexico.

Jcrow I know what you mean about names being hard. It took us a long time to come up with any names, and although we have a short list I am having a hard time committing to anything. Luckily people haven''t bugged us too much for names, because as far as they know we don''t know what we are having
2.gif

I have a hard time remembering I can''t do things at the same pace anymore. I went out to do a couple of errands, and right now we live right downtown. Because everyone is moving so quickly (and that is how I am used to moving) I still walk around at the same pace. Well, it didn''t take long before my belly let me know it was not happy with this. So then I had to slow down, but it was driving me crazy with everyone zipping around me. By the time I got home I was sore and annoyed. Oh well, I guess in ten weeks or so it won''t be an issue anymore.

I love Lila James! My nickname with a lady at work is Lulu....so I''m partial to it also.

re: names... we had a horrible time too. honestly we went into the hospital with a few we ''liked'' but none we absolutely ADORED or knew were the right ones. the kid didn''t have a name til we actually left the hospital. everyone just called him baby ''last name''..hahaa. and seriously even though now we have a name for him obviously...sometimes i think...does he really look like a Julian? oh well! hahaha. right now he just looks like a FUSS to me. he is going to grow up thinking his name is creature and fuss.
3.gif

but i do love the name lila james too. that sounds really great together!

oh and for anyone considering a baby memory book i just ordered one from RubyLoved on Etsy and it came (2 days after i paid) and it''s personalized, it''s so cool. i wanted something modern and retro at the same time and it''s great. i can''t wait to start writing in it before i forget all these amazing details!

Mara, I was looking at those baby books and already had the seller marked as a "favourite". Glad to hear you like it, it might just sway me to get one!
31.gif

ETA: but of course, I can't order a personalised one until we figure out the name...
3.gif

re: names - yep, same here. we have a short list. but nothing that screams out it''s the ONE.

re: baby books - funny, i was just researching baby books. i actually came across that etsy seller and favorited them. i also like the binth baby book even though it''s pricey.

re: pace - i completely am on the same page. it''s hard to realize that you just can''t move at the same pace your use to. how long i can stand on my feet/walk, etc. has completely changed
40.gif
when i met with my dietitian, she asked if i was exercising. i was thinking are you kidding me? i''m 31 weeks pregnant, feel the size of a whale and my legs ache just walking around the grocery store
20.gif

Lovelylulu I like Lila! Very similar to a name on our fuzzy lists... Have fun on vacay!!

mere I am not quite your husband but I am not so thoughtful on the gift front! I def. prefer to have suggestions if not be out-and-out told what to buy
7.gif
bad wife I am? oh well. funny though, a good friend of mine broke up with her long-time bf after he did nothing for her birthday. he''s a sweetie but not so much on the initiative front. he figured if she didn''t tell him what she wanted she must not want anything or it wasn''t important? Anyway, obviously not the *whole* reason for the breakup but the catalyst - she didn''t want to always want to be the initiator for things gift and otherwise. Now she''s found another lovely guy with more initiative and is much happier - not such a great solution for you
40.gif
but sometimes its a tradeoff! Or a need for partner-training.

Vesper you are close! How great! And good of your hubby to survive if not understand the hormones...

Um, maybe its just the first tri dont-touch-my-abdomen thing, but I have no desire for the corset/spannex right now. Makes me sick to think about it. Guess that''s the point right now, no sucking in only puffing/pouching/growing bigger!

HH
14.gif
on the pants! Oh and I''m a wreck there too. Even my roomier pants are not working these days and I''m doing things involving unbuttoning, walking around the house with obscenely low waistlines. Haven''t told at work so I''m not looking to sport maternity wear yet but might have to give up that ghost soon enough. My bloat belly was like 5 mo along earlier this week - hubby was
23.gif
23.gif
what happened - is that real? I thought the critter was only an inch! LOL, it is unfortunately real but not real all at the same time.

But I went in for an appt today at 11 weeks or so and the critter is almost 2 inches and heart beat-beating! Luckily the little one was Doppler-avoidant so I got another peak on ultrasound and it looks good! Definitely a little more humanoid with limbs and a biiiggggg head. Got blood drawn and NT scan in 2 weeks.

Re: Baby Names
I feel it MUCH easier to come up with girl names... which doesnt do me much good since a baby boy is cookin...

totally the opposite over here! we had a boy name but we''re having a girl! haha.

MP- LOVE your teaser pics. When can we see more??????

Lulu- Lila James is a great name!

Speaking of names, the plan is to come up with 2 choices for each gender so that we''ll be ready on delivery day. All we know is that the middle name will be after DH''s dad if it''s a boy, and it will be after my mom if it''s a girl. I''ve got a short list going, but have to work on engaging DH- he''s not quite there yet!

I''m catching up on my DVR-watching (last night''s THE BIGGEST LOSER) and just saw a promo for tomorrow night''s "big baby event" on THE OFFICE (yeah, I''m sometimes bad about FF during commercials!)

YAY!! is anyone else excited to see this?? We finally get to "meet" Jim and Pam''s LO!
36.gif

Cara, do you realize we''re going to pop these little ones out within days of each other????

I slept like CRAP last night. I had the most messed up dreams about life and the baby. In one I was in a hospital but all of the kids had major issues and my kid had the head of a very ugly adult and looked like a klingon or some other ST character with this big ridge down his/her face. I remember the doctor saying they suspected something was wrong because she only had freckles on one side of her face. My reaction was like ok, so then wtf is wrong with his/her head and why are you not concerned about that? Then I woke up. But I remember earlier in the dream being handed a baby to nurse, and it wasn''t the same baby. So I didn''t know if the nursed baby was mine or not (we''re they trying to give me some sense of normalcy after birth) or if the mutant was mine. Oh, and I tried and tried to get a bead on the sex of the baby in the dream and I couldn''t. So while I''m not one to put a lot of value in dream interpretation I''m slightly skeeved now. It was just so messed up and creepy. I''m sure it''s just subconscious anxiety because I''m having the screening for downs T-18 and spina bifida next week, but still. Have any of you had anything similar?

Happy Birthday, MERESAL!

Yes, Happy Birthday Mere!

Pupp and HH, Thank you ladies!!
9.gif

The day started much better than originally expected. DH had to go back to our college town(3 hours away) for an alumni meeting/conference and a group baseball game, and was going to drive back this morning to meet me at the doctor's office... BUT, he called my cell at 11:50 last night and asked me to move my car into the garage so that he could pull into the driveway!!!!
36.gif

He arrived home just in time to celebrate my birthday at midnight
5.gif
(apparently his plan for the last 2 months, and I had no idea). I also received my annual birthday wake-up call from my 5 yr old neice. So stinkin cute.

DH told me that he is getting me my post-partem waist cincher for my birthday. So we are going to pick it up after the doctor's appointment. Yayyy!!

Lulu- I'll definitely post my review afterwards. I'm hoping that it will bring things back "in" after the baby arrives. The one I am getting actually only goes around your hips, so I don't have to worry about it covering up my whole torso. Maybe Vesper and I will have different opinions in the end, though I hope we are both able to see good results!

China- Too funny about the wedding gift as well. DH really hit it out of the park with that one. I guess it's the big ones that matter... he always seems to come around by the day of though. (However, that might be my low expectations kicking in... lol! Always happy!)
2.gif

I have taken the day off of work. First time EVER to take my birthday off. I have a hair appointment in an hour and then the doctor's appt, then who knows. It is going to be almost 70 today, so I'm hoping to be out and about in the gorgeous weather!

Happy birthday, Mere!

HH, I didn''t do that screening, but it''s just a blood test so it''s really simple. Do you have anything that runs in your family at all?

Charger, I should be getting a link to all of my completed pictures sometime today (hopefully!), but I got another teaser pic. I think it''s hilarious - my tummy was way closer to the camera than the rest of me so it''s sticking out WAY far and my hands look huge!

maternityteaser_monkeypie3.jpg

I''m not having the CVS or anything done, just the detailed u/s and blood test. Still, I guess it has my imagination up and running. We don''t really have a history of those issues in my family so I know rationally I have nothing to worry about.

Just popping in to say hi to all the future mamas. Hope you are all feeling great. I just discovered Baby Jogger strollers came out with a new version of their city. Details are here. Looks like a great strollers for those of you who think you will have your children close together. I have not seen them in person but there are 16 different ways to configure the seats. I have seen the elite in person and loved the way it pushed. They really are nice strollers.

Happy Birthday Mere!

Glad everything is going well Kim!

I got all my pictures! There are tons, so I''m sure you don''t want a picture flood, but here is a seriously cute one.
