Can anyone help me with the HCA tool?

Well, after speaking to Blue Nile and one of their diamond specialists who is a lead supervisor, she agreed with EVERYTHING you all said about our original diamond! Horrible diamond with no sparkle/shine and that it should have never been suggested to us. I asked her to come up with a diamond she felt was the BEST diamond for us and she choose the EXACT same diamond Kim recommended, all without knowing we were going to ask for this one. I'm still in shock that this website knew more than a "diamond expert" from Blue Nile. The original "expert" has given us nothing but poor advice and horrible customer service. We had already previously asked him to be removed and to no longer contact us. He still contacted us numerous times after being told not to by supervisors. This latest mess up just solidifies that he shouldn't represent Blue Nile any longer.

We can't THANK YOU all enough for all your support and suggestions! I'm glad I found this website (already knew about it) and SUPER glad I asked the question about the HCA. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! We will be returning the old diamond, but already have the new one reserved and they will be sending it out immediately. Small overlap for return, but we don't care!

I can't wait to see the new stone in my new setting! Again, THANK YOU ALL!!! You saved us so much disappointment and heartache.

This is fantastic news! So glad you got validation from the lead supervisor. I'm happy you found PriceScope in time and I was able to help. I hope you come back to share photos and thoughts on your new gorgeous diamond!

I absolutely love reading comments such as yours, Julie C - it makes it all worthwhile, and that's even before you see your new (and much better) replacement diamond for the first time...and every day after that!

My new ring is going to be spectacular, thanks to all of you! I will share photos! Glad I got to see the diamond that we are returning this morning. Can't wait to see the new one and the difference. My husband also thanks all of you! At first, he was questing "stuff on the internet" but now...he's SO happy I asked the original question. Someday, I will share the story/reason for the upgrade <3

We are so glad that you popped in here to get an analysis of the diamond that BN first recommended and looking forward to seeing some pictures and reading about your thoughts and impressions when you get it on your finger!

Please tell your husband that I understand the notion of "stuff on the internet" causing some pause.
Thankfully, the PriceScope approach to buying diamonds is built on facts derived from the science and physics of light interacting with diamond material. Truly, the best and brightest minds for all things diamonds and gemstones are here as a cohesive and collective unit.
I came here out of happenstance when I was shopping for an anniversary upgrade to my wife's ring a little over a year ago. I've learned SO MUCH since and continue to learn more every day and, like you, I was able to get the info and understanding that I needed in order to get that jaw-dropping diamond - my wife and I are still mesmerized by it. She'd never admit it, but I often see her staring...nah, outright gazing into her diamond while whatever deep thoughts she has are rolling through her mind. There's just something magical about a exquisitely cut diamond that looks like you could dive right into it and feel focused and centered. It's not just a fashion statement: it's a seering stone...a place to fix your gaze on for clear thought.

As a testament to just how much talent is here (and this is just the PS staff, not accounting for the huge amount of members that are in diamond industry representing each and every imaginable job/career/specialty):

Two individuals that I'd like to call out as the "foundings of fabulous cut" that took Tolkowsky's work and refined it an even higher level are @oldminer (Dave Atlas) and @Garry H (Cut Nut) (Garry Holloway).
Garry is the inventor of the Ideal-Scope and the ASET scope, the latter of which is used by AGS to assess the light performance of every diamond that comes through their grading lab.
As I've read it in past threads: While Garry was devising his own proportions and angles ranges for ideal cut parameters in Australia, so was Dave half a world away, at the same time, unbeknownst to one another! That is another testament to the sheer amount of passion for defining what the best parameters are to get the highest performance possible for a diamond.
Maybe they'll pop in here and give us a story or three to tell us more about the history aspects.

Here is a wonderful article that describes how it all works and why most diamonds, despite having so-called excellent grading, aren't so excellent:

Be sure to catch the PS webinars on their YouTube channel!

As you delve into the thickets of diamond learning, feel free to ask any questions because there's at least one (OK more like at least twenty) folks with real-world experience that will be happy to share their knowledge to provide you answers and insights.

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with all the help that has been provided to Julie C.

Everyone checked Blue Nile and provided her with the perfect choice. No one received a commission for the help provided - Everyone just wanted to make sure Julie was taken care of.

Kudos to you all!

Frank

I'm forever grateful! Definitely going to suggest everyone come here first before buying a diamond! Since I have a big mouth when it comes to referrals, I'm sure some business will come of it. Lol. I'm the one who always asks for the manager to tell them how awesome their employees are. I rarely complain. Hoping the original Blue Nile expert never gets the chance to work with anyone else again. He's a poor representation of their company.

I may have just learned how to quote and reply. Haha!

It came in today!! It's so freaking stunning! We took it to my jeweler and he placed it in the setting and oh MY, it's GORGEOUS! We get to pick it up later today! I look a little video of it, but my old hands are so ugly. Lol. Waiting a LONG time for this ring! I really can't thank you all enough!

Glad to hear that you are in love with it and looking forward to seeing some pictures, Julie C!

My husband and I took it outside and I freaked out because it had a couple blue spots in it. My husband was wearing a blue shirt. :lol-2: The jeweler is going to take better photos. I have a short video but don't know how to post here.

Again, thank you ALL for the help! Best thing I ever did is ask a question here.

Yay, that's wonderful to hear! I'm so happy for you! It sounds like a real stunner. You can link to an anonymous YouTube account, Imgur, or Vimeo.

We need pictures!! So happy for you!!

Here is a quick one I took. Need to study the thread of taking good pics. Waiting for the jeweler to send me more. I'M IN LOVE!! I'll have to tell the story some day. I'm in my 50's so my hands are old. tempImage4OWtST.png

Photos don't do it justice!

I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!

Let's see if this works. The main diamond looks yellow because of the LED lighting in the jewelry store. It is NOT yellow at all!

Woooo doggie - look at all that sparkle and fire!
Gorgeous piece! Congratulations!

Here it is with 2 of 3 bands. I will only be wearing it with my one wedding band. I think... The jeweler store lighting is pretty bad. Super yellow/dark in there. Not like ohter jewelry stores I have been in with bright lights. I'm super obsessed with my entire set. (Ignore the other customer...lol!)

Gorgeous!!! Love the sapphire accents too. Enjoy!!

Thank you! It's my birth stone. Old sapphires are the best! This ring is similar to my original engagement ring, only =)2WAY bigger!

I will eventually get good pics.tempImageZR1K4O.pngI use https://edubirdie.com/buy-term-paper to get help with diamond research and appraisal. I buy term papers and get good grades.
Even though I'm a boy, I'm in love with nails and sapphire both)) It looks exquisite and luxurious at the same time! I think I have found the ideal gift for my little girl for Xmas.
