Hi! Newbie here. And very new to the lab diamond world. I recently just impulsed purchased this 3.19CT oval because it was really cheap but kind of having second thoughts now.
I asked another forum about possible bow ties and someone pointed out that it’s HPHT and not CVD. I didn’t even know there’s 2 different kinds and I’m not sure if this is a bad thing or not. I would love to hear your opinion about it and help me understand on what to look out for when it comes to 3+ct oval.

HPHT is not a bad thing...Lab stones can be created via HPHT or CVD. HPHT is considered closer to how natural earth-mined stones
are made.

Unfortunately, we cant tell much from the numbers for fancy cut stones (basically anything that is not round).

Do you have a link to videos or pictures of the stone?

Thank you for your response. I thought I attached the 360 videos but let me see if this works 360 video

360 video did it work?

Yes, it worked. Its a pretty typical/average 8 main.

I very much appreciate your input! To be honest I never got far into learning anything about 4,6,8 faceting if that’s what you’re referring about 8 main.
The information out there got so overwhelming lol to the point I just copied & paste the proportions and put it on the website and picked based on how it looks

Agreed - average because it shows the usual indicators of some leakages at the tips and in the center/belly (mushy/blurry areas in red) along with the potential for slight bowtie effect (in yellow), which can be quite normal for most modern ovals at closer viewing distances when obstruction starts taking over.

I have no concerns with the HPHT quality since it leans towards a normal yellowish instead of of grayish, greenish, or blueish.

This could be a very nice oval!

Should I keep that one and return this?
IMG_8745.jpeg360 video - I hope this video link works, it’s the only one I could find :/

Hard to say which would be better...this one may have less chance of bowtie effect, but maybe slightly more leakage in the center.
There's also the potential concerns with CVD grown material causing light scattering.
Impossible to tell without assessing it with your own eyes in a variety of different lighting conditions.

Yes, by average/typical, I don't necessarily mean bad. Just typical. You have to hunt around a lot to find
really nice (above average) ovals.

Have you looked at any regular 4 mains? Personally, I would not keep the one you have. Its not doing a great job
at returning light. What is your budget?

To be honest, I wouldn’t even know how 4 main looks like or what to look for. I just learned the first stone is 8 main from you guys lol.
My original budget was 400 for 2+ct but I found the 3.19ct for 500 so I didn’t mind paying that. Then I found the 3.15ct (second one) for $635 because I really love the look of the modified brilliant and they’re also difficult for me to find so I bought it. I figured I could just return one of them. Turns out none of them are any good either I’m not sure if I can find a good one under $650.
But I also only looked at Calavera because their prices seems lower than lgd or luvansh or I could be wrong.
