Can I use ammonia to clean aquamarine?

I clean my diamond and platinum engagement ring with a 50-50 water-ammonia solution. I just got a pair of aquamarine and diamond earrings set in white gold. Can I safely use this solution to clean these as well?

Should be fine - warm, soapy H2O safest - stay away from hydrofluoric acid!
