And why not?! It was no secret...even his wife did not like him!

He might return to chastise you!

I think by now he has "moved on" to the other side...thankfully!

Does that mean your son is no longer having conversations with him?

OMG, that stopped many years ago, he was about two and he is now over 14. It thankfully did not last long, but it was spooky to me nonethless...he was so calm and matter of fact about the whole thing...I recall he had a toy play house with a plastic phone in it, and I would walk into the room and he would be blabbing away...when I would ask who it was he would say Grandpa like it was so normal...

Maybe he was just an imaginative child?

No, not in this case. I believe kids have certain talents and abilities that get lost to them as they age...I also had some psychic ability, very minor, but it was more than just imaginitiveness, he was only 18 months old when he died and could not have remembered him much.

What were your abilities, if you don''t mind divulging them?

I would dream things that would come true, pretty random things, about people I had not seen or heard from in years, and I would dream about them and the next day they would call me or I would bump into them in a store or restaurant. I knew the moment my father died, he was sick and in the hospital and I was home, and woke up (at the time he died, I looked at the clock and my mom later told me that he died at that same time). It was July and incredibly hot, and our home did not have air conditioning and I was roasting, and suddenly I woke up, felt incredibly cold and was shivering, could not get why I was suddenly cold and wide awake...my mom then came home a few hours later and told me he had died. I would then have dreams about him, where he was in my room, sitting on the end of my bed talking to me...I would wake up and feel so much better.

I categorically reject all this kind of stuff. It makes my life much easier. I have enough things to think about. I favour more rational explanations. Old houses may creak as they settle (or have rodents or whatever). When I get tired from too much studying, I start to see "smoke" out of the corners of my eyes.

One of my co-workers likes to talk about little dark bars that appear on photos. I think he was saying they''re aliens. (I shared with him my theory that tables and chairs are aliens in disguise, spying on us. They want us to think they''re not alive. Think about it. There''s at least one in every house or office I go to.)

I see no reason to look at little blips on my photos and conclude it''s Elvis Presley.

Can someone explain the Bloody Mary story for me please, I don''t know what it is?

I don''t have any experiences to report, but I just wanted to say this stuff is fascinating! I love the cat story.

I do believe wholeheartedly in ghosts. I''m glad no one on this thread has been harmed.

Can someone explain the Bloody Mary story for me please, I don''t know what it is?
Via Wikipedia (forgive the lengthiness herein):

In folklore and children''s street culture, "Bloody Mary" is the name of a children''s game in which a ghost or witch of the same name (or sometimes other names, such as "Mary Worth") is said to appear in a mirror when summoned. One of the more common ways participants attempt to make her appear is to stand before a mirror in the dark (most commonly in a bathroom) and repeat her name three times, though there are many variations. Some include chanting a hundred times, chanting at midnight, spinning around, rubbing one''s eyes, or chanting her name thirteen times with a lit candle. Most of these are meant to disorient people. In some versions of the legend, the summoner must say, "Bloody Mary, I killed your son!" or "I killed your baby." In these variants, Bloody Mary is often believed to be the spirit of a mother (often a widow) who murdered her children, or a young mother whose baby was stolen from her, which made her go mad in grief and she eventually committed suicide. In stories where Mary is supposed to have been wrongly accused of killing her children, the querent might say "I believe in Mary Worth." This is similar to another game involving the summoning of the Bell Witch in a mirror at midnight. Similar rituals are also used to summon spirits in the movies Beetlejuice (1988) and Candyman (1992). The game is often a test of courage, as it is said that if Bloody Mary is summoned, she would proceed to kill the summoner in an extremely violent way, such as ripping his or her face off, scratching his or her eyes out, driving the person insane or bringing the person into the mirror with her. Other variations say that the querent must not look directly at her, but at her image in the mirror; she will then reveal the querent''s future, particularly concerning marriage and children.

Bloody Mary Worth is typically described as a child-murderer who lived in the locality where the legend has taken root years ago. There is often a specific local graveyard or tombstone that becomes attached to the legend...

The appearance of a ghostly figure in the mirror could be explained quite easily for the more complex rituals, for example spinning around whilst summoning Bloody Mary in front of a mirror lit by candles. The combination of dizziness, rapid movement and flickering lighting could easily fool the eye into seeing someone, especially when the idea has already been implanted. The participant may think that they have seen a spirit, it is, however, most likely a trick of the eye brought upon by the combination of darkness, fear and disorientation.

Okay, I haven''t read any of the replies, so I''m only replying to Amber''s original post:

Yes, I believe people can be haunted. My family and I have had too many experiences to not believe it. In one house, my dad saw the ghost of a little blonde girl, and she only appeared once. That was when my young cousin was having a bday party at our place. My dad thinks that all the laughing and playing attracted her.

In that same house, my sis and I would never go into any of the rooms alone; we''d always accompany each other, because you would always get this funny feeling that someone was watching you and was about to grab you. Creepy. It was also in that house that I experienced what scientists call "sleep paralysis." We believe that it''s a ghost that lays down directly on top of you, therefore immobilizing you. What''s scary about that is the fact that when you try to move, there''s a loud buzzing that starts in your head and gets louder and more painful the harder you try to move.

After we moved out, my parents, my sis and I all had nightmares about that house. There was something wrong with the place, and we all felt it, but we didn''t mention it until after we moved. So, in closing, yes, I believe people and places can be haunted.
