Can someone weigh in on this aqua?

The vendor circled back to confirm with her supplier heat treatment only. I told her as long as it’s eye clean to me and treatment is stable, I’m happy. After confirming everything was ok the aqua was shipped out. She did confirm price was because of inclusions. The search for other aquas is on pause right now. I’ll post pics when I get it.
She’s not saying it’s eyeclean is she?
I didn’t take it that way.

But - no issues it seems, her return policy doesn’t hinge on that, besides any duties/tariffs or whatever.
So getting it in hand (even if you do return it) will be a good learning exp to your own eye.

Hope you post lots of pics for us to see when you get it.

She listed as eye clean and says it’s eye clean from regular viewing distance. I don’t have eagle eyes so I’m inclined to think I’ll be ok with it. Especially since color is my top issue. I ended up paying $275 total for it (duties TBD, but I’m not too concerned with that) and with that price in mind, I’m not too concerned with inclusions.

I will definitely post loads of pics when it arrives.

When do you expect it to arrive? :)

I thought it was going to arrive today but it’s still showing in transit. It was in LA on the 16th. I’m up near Seattle so I can’t imagine it’d be too much longer, right?

Ok it arrived this morning. It’s cloudy in one corner but I think once it’s set I won’t notice. Photos are taken in the backseat of our truck on an overcast day. We have tinted windows too so it’s a bit dark in here. We’re running errands so will post pics in other lighting conditions when I get home.

Well cut stone. I’m kind of glad there are inclusions because aquamarines are synthesized these days, and they look very natural, albeit very clean. I think with this one, the most important thing is that it’s heated only, not irradiated. If irradiated, the color could fade over time. Aquamarine is a gem that I would want lab verification on, but I’m not sure if they can test for irradiation. You would need to verify with the lab in question. Other than that, it’s a lovely stone, and will look nice once set.

I think I have to see it in other lighting conditions before deciding on setting it. I’m considering keeping it and continuing my search just to be extra sure.

Was able to get some pics outside while the dogs went potty. Had the kid so I had to do it by the front door, which is covered. It’s still overcast. Hopefully the baby will let me put him down and I can go out where there’s more sunlight

And in sunlight. The sun came out but it’s not super bright (ya know the PNW and all).

Some of the pics make the stone look a little darker than it actually is. I think the vendor’s photos are pretty spot on to how it looks in sunlight.

How is the luster and sparkle?

I’ve only ever seen mall aquas so I have no idea what to expect from an aqua.

It’s already an improvement then, lol!

Aquas do tend to have nice surface polish (luster) and sparkle off the back facets if cut well. I think you should find a mount and sit it in there to see the full effect. Maybe your local mall will have some mounts, and you don’t have to purchase one. Aquas can be very grayish and often look best once set. I like the color, it reminds me of some Montana sapphires I’ve seen.

What are the mm measurements?

Lol yes it’s the most beautiful aqua I’ve ever seen IRL.

I have to find my calipers and post that later cause I didn’t think to screenshot that before the listing went down. I bought outside of Etsy so my account isn’t linked to the listing.

The original idea I had to set this doesn’t seem right now that I have the stone in hand so I might really take my time and figure out what to do/ maybe collect some aquas on the way.

I really really love the picture of it on the pink flowers. I can see it set with pink melee side stones..

I thought that was the best pic too! What gemstone would mimic that color though?

I think it is lovely and seems truly representative of the vendor's pic. But I'm really here to say: Baby Feet! I want them!!!!!

Lol baby feet are so chubby it’s cute! Same with baby hands - even though they’re entirely too sharp and grabby.

For the pink? Or the aqua color?

These are roughly 5mm square. But don’t know what size you’d need.
Color shift in this color is a wildcard in either spinel or garnet.

Very pretty! I've never seen an aqua irl that shade. I have a cuprian tourmaline that is very similar color.

Oh I meant for the pink. I think a halo in that color would be very interesting!

That is a close match! Thanks. I’ll start looking around to see what I can find.

Thank you! How did you set your tourmaline?

If you want to do pink gems, and you don’t care about treatment, but you want it to be cost effective. You could go with diffused pink sapphire melee, or other side stone shapes. If you really really don’t care about the nature of the side stones, you could even do synthetic pink sapphire. Both options are lovely and cost effective. Natural untreated, or just minimally treated stones will be expensive and require thorough lab reports to ensure you’re not being ripped off. Even pink spinel is a good option, but is often synthesized.

Thanks! I’ll look around. For just the setting I don’t think I care about the stones used.
