can you change the width of a band?

My e-ring band is about 6mm all the way around. It looks great but it is not comfy in the back due to the width. Is there a way to get the ring tapered in the back to about half the size? The ring is 14k.
Also, will it affect the integrity of the pave stones along the top of the band? And will it affect the way my w-band fits against the ring?

You could definitely get the band filed down ... but it *will* change the way your wedding band fits against the ring. Hard to say how it will affect the set stones (I'm guessing it won't, but won't commit firmly without seeing the ring). My advice would be to talk to your jeweler to see if s/he has any suggestions ....

if i could figure out how to post a pic, i would! i have given up hours of my life trying to post in the past. obviously, to no avail. i am not smart enough

thanks for your input. I only have 1 jewelry store here and I am sure they do fine work but I dont trust that they will be objective in answering my questions truthfully because they want the sale. Ya know? Plus, it is a chain store that starts with a Z and they send absolutely EVERYTHING out to another store...so no jeweler on site. I just cant 100% trust the sales person to know for sure if my pave is safe or the structure and integrity of my ring will be compromised; so I thought I would try here first and get some sound knowledge before walking into that chain store.
