Really?! Do we have the rule of law in this country or not? She was found not guilty. Like it or not, it's over--I hope you aren't insinuating that someone in this country should go outside of the law to administer some vigilante "justice" in this case.

I don't think that someone should KILL her, but I do think she will have a hard time living her life in the U.S. I wouldn't want to hire her, if I was an employer. I would not want to work for or with her. As a customer, I would not want to be waited on by her at a restaurant, retail store, anywhere! I think, for a while at least, she will have a rough life. Everyone knows who she is and what she has done (or not done, if you agree with the verdict!)

ETA: If I saw her on the street, I would have a hard time controlling my mouth to not scream - MURDERER! I think that she will cause a scene whenever she goes out in the public for years to come.
right...except she lived for years before Caylees death with fake jobs, stealing, lying, and cheating her way through life. She didn't need a job before all of this to survive, wont need one after.
especially once she makes millions from her book deals, TV movie rights, and everything else that comes from this. Makes me sick that she is going to be free to go, and she will now actually benefit monetarily from her daughters death.

Sick sick sick.

I definitely agree with this. Life will not be easy for her. It just scares me when people start wanting to take the law into their own hands. We have to all believe in the rule of law for it to work and to keep us safe and free (relatively speaking, of course!).

She'll be on Celebrity Rehab or something when she gets out. We will never be rid of Totmom!

state will appeal. that said, casey wins b/c that body decomposed for so long and the one guy who found it was a not-credible creep.
The State cannot appeal. Once someone is acquitted, it's over forever because of our constitutional right preventing a person from being placed in double jeopardy. This is why the prosecution has the ability to make an interlocutory appeal (an appeal in the middle of the proceedings to decide an issue of law). Once the not guilty has come down, that's it for the State's case.

I used to agree with this idea but after today, I really wish there was some way for the courts to appeal the issue.

It is just wrong that she is getting away with murder.

This defense press conference is crazy. I'm actually kind of impressed with Baez's part of it. He's giving props to the prosecution and driving home the message that underneath it all, a little girl was taken away too soon. He could have been up there saying "I told you so". Still a sleaze bag.

I wonder if Baez's client base will skyrocket (hey! Get Baez to represent us! He was the one who helped out Casey Anthony!). The whole time the trial was going on, I was thinking to myself that he'll never get a client again.

ETA: Not the part at the end where he can say to his own daughter that he saved a life today. Go be a lifeguard. Or a firefighter.

I thought after the O.J. verdict, I'd seen it all. I was wrong.

Poor baby Caylee.

Really? You want to give the government carte blanche to prosecute you over and over till they get the result they want? I personally think Casey is guilty but the prosecution had a horrible case.

Can they do that?

I thought that you could only be tried the one time for a crime and if you were found "not guilty" there was no going back to do it again?

I really don't think they can. You can't be tried twice for the same crime. They could charge her with something new - but what?

Tax fraud? (after the book deals and the such she's bound to get :angryfire: )

I wonder if she'll try to go after her father and/or brother since they didn't back her up? For a woman capable of killing her own daughter, I don't think it is much of a stretch.

This will be interesting. She has limited skills and just accused her father and brother of molesting her. Not sure where she is going to go or what she will do with her life. I only hope she has no more children.

I think it would be beyond just wanting.... most will adamantly demand to have nothing to do with her... that's even with witness protection b/c she's easily recognized.

Disgusted right now.

i feel really, really ill right now. it's oj simpson all over again.

Witness protection is for witnesses not the accused!

That is the tough part. I really don't think the goverment should be able to do something like that and I can easily imagine such a thing being abused.

After today's verdict though, I do wish there was SOMETHING in place for cases like this. What exactly I'm not sure because anything that would prevent/correct this murderer from getting away with it would most certainly be used to torment those who are actually innocent.

Let's all make a pact that we won't buy the book she's going to write.

Or how about we don't promote ANYTHING that gives her any kind of publicity/support.

Hmmm..wonder who will take her in once she's released. Can't exactly go 'home' after trying to hang her father out to dry... :x Can't even believe this happened. Poor Caylee.

She'll be able to go home. Her parents were willing to lie for her until the very end. I'd imagine that if George didn't want her there then Cindy would go somewhere to live with her.

I think this case has proved there are a lot of nutjobs out there willing to kill. Casey had better keep her eyes open for them. That's all I'm saying. You should see blowup on my facebook feed of people who are hoping for that to happen, it's crazy.

So I guess little Caylee crawled into the trashbag, self taped her face and rolled into the woods to die.

I'm beyond disgusted.

RIP Caylee Marie Anthony--we ALL failed you.

More likely that Cindy would welcome her home and if George didn't like it HE'D be the one told to find somewhere else to stay. Either that or Cindy will welcome her home and the two of them together will be enough stress that George will just die. :nono:

ding, ding, ding==we have a winner folks!

I feel disgusted- I just cannot believe this happened. What an injustice!!

Were the jurors given any information that we weren't?

Today was an amazing day, I am sad and I am disgusted and I am upset and I do not believe justice was found for that little girl Caylee.

We're we watching the same trial? I mean, were we? How is it that they saw everything we did and then turned around found Casey NOT guilty? How the f*** is that even possible? I don't see how that happens, or how that works, or why that happened.

It makes me sick, physically ill. And I have to believe that if justice isn't found for Caylee here, on Earth...then that's only because something larger, bigger than our legal system, is waiting on the other side.

I'll never buy her book, or support any endeavors she takes on after this. I've heard her speak, I've seen what she has to say...and none of it interests me, because it will always be another LIE. She's disgusting trash, and the world will reject her.

When I look at the definition of "reasonable doubt" given to the jury in instructions from Judge Perry, I cannot fathom how 12 people unanimously agreed to these verdicts and so quickly. The only thing I can come up with is that it's all in the interpretation of reasonable doubt, and that interpretation is highly subjective. If I had been one of these jurors, the rest would probably have wanted to kill me after a while as I argued with them that their doubt was not reasonable!

Below is the definiton as described in the instructions to the jury. The part where it says that an abiding conviction of guilt must be stable, not waving or vascillating, really drives the point home for me. In the blogosphere, I've read many comments where people say that they think she's guilty but the the prosecution didn't prove it. Well, if you have an abiding conviction that she's guilty and it doesn't waver, then you do not have reasonable doubt! It makes me wonder if people have become so used to cut and dried stories of DNA evidence that conclusively proves how a crime happened (TV shows) that they see circumstantial evidence as being invalid. Also, I wonder if for some people (this jury?), having a wavering opinion that maaayyyybeeee it might have been an accident is the same thing as having reasonable doubt.

What does everyone think of Baez saying that this trial should make us rethink the death penalty. I agree with him on that one. The jury isn't supposed to consider the sentence when determining their verdict. Do you think the outcome would have been different without the DP?

sorry for being so wordy!

--------
Whenever the words "reasonable doubt" are used you must consider the following:

A reasonable doubt is not a mere possible doubt, a speculative, imaginary or forced doubt.

Such a doubt must not influence you to return a verdict of not guilty if you have an abiding conviction of guilt. On the other hand, if, after carefully considering, comparing and weighing all the evidence, there is not an abiding conviction of guilt, or, if, having a conviction, it is one which is not stable but one which wavers and vacillates, then the charge is not proved beyond every reasonable doubt and you must find the defendant not guilty because the doubt is reasonable.

It is to the evidence introduced in this trial, and to it alone, that you are to look for that proof.

A reasonable doubt as to the guilt of the defendant may arise from the evidence, conflict in the evidence or the lack of evidence.

If you have a reasonable doubt, you should find the defendant not guilty. If you have no reasonable doubt, you should find the defendant guilty.

Hmmm, but if there are sufficient grounds for appeal can the case not be appealed?? I get double jeopardy, etc., but are there no grounds for appeal post-verdict in criminal cases? I'm not a crim pro expert...

I love how Mason stuck his thumb into the eye of the douchebag pundits. I enjoyed Nancy's reaction to the defense presser immensely.

UN-FRICKING-BELIEVABLE!!! i AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!!! :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire:

She killed her own daughter and now gets to walk scot free......It's so unfair!!! This is not justice!!!!

Poor Baby Caylee! I am so sick for her!!! This is just so wrong!!!!!!!! :errrr: ;( :(sad :angryfire:
