Tiny ruby eyes so this qualifies for the CS section but I mainly posted this in SMTB. My late 1800's diamond and ruby fox stickpin conversion ring. Here is the link:

Bah! I was wondering about that. It's lovely. How accurate do you feel his photos where?

A bezel would be cool but I would be afraid of darkening it.
E/w in a semi bezel though would be so cool. Maybe a semi bezel with pave?

I don't feel like it captured the colors, but it did capture the blue-green moments.
Something like this to allow light to pass through, but would that still darken it?

Waiting on two colorless chrysoberyls from TGT. Mine are the two lefties (not enough $$$ to buy all 4 ) the 1.07 and 1.25ct are mine

Yeah that setting is nice. I'd just make the shank thinner. I know I'm getting David Klass to make it.

Hi all, I'm new here but quickly developing a new addiction to gems!

My story starts with finding a smooshed ring in a parking lot over 10 years ago. I thought it was costume jewlery, so I tossed it into my beading box...several years later, I noticed it and wondered if maybe it was something 'real'. Upon taking it to a jeweler found out I had a gold, diamond and over 3ct tanzanite ring! Somehow though the ring was smooshed almost flat (should have taken a photo of it) the tanzanite was undamaged...I had it repolished and set in a simple pendant.

Here it is!

With some gentle nudging from a good friend (and mostly because she persuaded me to get a mani this weekend) I am posting two beauties. I know how the amethyst will be set but I am still inspiration hunting for the spinel.

Neil - no plans to set them yet. I have been on the lookout for a larger colourless chryso or a vanadium... But when tgt had these I couldn't pass them up. . . . I have no self control. Plus Brad is helpful & very easy to deal with...

You're absolutely correct. I have an awesome friend. She tolerates my obdurateness in life and gems daily.

I am very excited about the spinel as well, though I still am researching my options.

Yes! Chris Auletta arranged a custom with C. Morin. There was a snafu in ordering an amethyst on loupe troop and it turned out for the best because I ended up with the asscher I always dreamt of. I cannot wait to set it. Chris was excellent to work.

It's going to be an alternative e-ring because I work with preschoolers and don't want something that can scratch them. I'm contemplating getting diamonds flush set down the side. I just know I want no prongs.

puppyguts what is the colorless chryso like IRL? Does it behave like a colorless sapphire? I looked up dispersion and RI and I would guess it's more like a sapphire but there are so many factors and I'm a novice. I was intrigued when Brad offered one in his drop before last. I'm so drawn to unusual or rare things. Anyway what is your impression. Any plans?

Im sorry i have never had/seen a colourless sapphire so I can't compare between the two. I was supprised how bright and colourless they actually were - They look a lot brighter than in my terrible pictures. And I thought that maybe they would tint to a colour but they don't. They look a little bluish in my outdoor photo but that's not what I see IRL. Very clean no inclusions even under my 10x loupe. I have no plans for them at the moment, just a happy addition to my little collection.

Maybe someone else can comment on the comparison between colourless sapphire...

tsavorite recut by Jerry from 1.6ct to 1.3ct, it is as bright and shiny as tsavorite can be and holds its beauty compare to my Gene tsavy so I set it in PT and a big halo, you have seen the emerald before, small demantoid I obtained a few years ago in custom 18k WG setting. I copied diamondzone's style but didn't purchase from them.
